Bonnie Raitt is a great singer, guitarist & songwriter who covers many genres such as blues, rock, folk & country. Her biggest hits are from the 70's-90's. "Something To Talk About", "Love Sneakin' Up On You", "Nick Of Time", “Have A Heart”, "I'm In The Mood" (duet with John Lee Hooker ), "Papa Come Quick" etc.
Bonnie is the daughter of a broadway star, John Raitt, from the 50’s. She’s an incredible blues guitarist and I don’t need to say anything about her powerful, beautiful voice. One of my favorites is her cover of “Angel From Montgomery”, by John Prine. Another musician you should eventually look into. Keep going with Bonnie. Don’t forget Linda Ronstadt, one of Bonnie’s contemporaries and good friend.
Yes, she's definitely worth diving into. 'Something to Talk About', 'Thing Called Love', 'Love Sneaking up on You', 'Nick of Time', 'Runaway', these are upbeat, great songs. She's an iconic singer & guitarist, famous for slide guitar. Even Prince called her to Paisley Park to teach him to play slide, but in the end he just used her playing on the song Cream. She's won a ton of Grammy's.
If you wanna hear her rock out listen to 'Love Me LIke a Man' by Bonnie. She is a fantastic guitar player. She won the grammy for best song of the year last year! And was inducted into the R & R Hall of Fame and Blues Hall of Fame in past couple of years I think. She has been a stellar artist for several decades and still looks gorgeous and sings and plays great. Don't know if she's still touring, she is getting up there in age. 'Angel From Montgomery' was another HUGE hit for her. In this song you just heard I'm thinking she was probably in 40's. Maybe older.
One of my all time favorite female artists. Her catalog is definitely worth a dive into. Angel From Montgomery, Something To Talk About, Thing Called Love....everything she sings is awesome. She is also a great Blues guitarist. People try to put her into the Country category, but she is Blues that sometimes crosses over into Country.
I love this song because it places no blame. There’s no ill intent. No bad guy. No one to whom she can direct anger as a way of coping. Just melancholy and the realization that it simply isn’t going to work out as she hoped. Nice reaction.
I love her cover of Angel From Montgomery (one of John Prine's song). Speaking of John Prine, I saw Bonny Raitt perform in Nashville. She came on stage after John Prine warmed up the crowd. Covid took Prine from us...RIP
A tear jerking fantastic tune and yes dive away into the deep end of Bonnie’s songs.. Try reacting to Angel From Montgomery and Something to Talk About!
"I Can't Make You Love Me" was written by Mike Reid with Allen Shamblin. Reid was born and raised in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and attended Pennsylvania State University, where he played defensive tackle on the Nittany Lions football team. In his senior year, 1969, Reid led the defense with 89 tackles. He was a unanimous All-America selection, won the Outland Trophy as the outstanding interior lineman in America, and was awarded the Maxwell Trophy as the nation's outstanding player in college football. Upon graduation, he was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals, playing for five years while twice being named to the All-Pro team. Retiring on top in 1974, he was finally free to pursue his first passion: Songwriting.
Just Like That, Nick of Time, Angel from Montgomery, Something to Talk About, Runaway, lots of great tunes. She's got such a soulful voice for love songs, won an Grammy for her song about organ transplants no less (Just Like That), had a huge hit singing about getting old (Nick of Time), she can rock with the best besides playing a world-class slide guitar
The great Bruce Hornsby on the piano...Love Bonnie Raitt's unique voice. Anything with her singing live is worth listening to/watching esp if she's playing slide guitar. Also anything not live. :-)
One of those songs that will make you sad beyond measure. Beautiful but utterly depressing. Which is why I listened it to a ton back in High School and College.
A quietly incredible song, which I love. If you want to hear Bonnie rip it - she's a KILLER slide guitarist - try a live version of 'Love Me Like a Man".
Bonnie is the girl. Early 70's she did "Love Me Like A Man" "Been Too Long At The Fair" "Nothing Seems To Matter Without You". Start there. You will absolutely keep going. She's powerful, sweet, bluesy, smart, and kind. Her slide guitar playing is top tier. She has paid her dues and then some.
You should check out Bonnie w/John Lee Hooker “In The Mood”, or Bonnie and B.B.King “Nightlife” Bonnie w/Keb Mo “I Just Can’t Get Over You” or any of her solo performances (of which there are many)! I’ve been listening to her since the 70’s and have seen her perform twice at Shoreline in Cali. All of her music is amazing and her slide guitar is awesome 🎸😎👵🏼☮️💜
She JUST won a Grammy in April for "Song of the Year," for a powerfully moving song called Just Like That (I highly recommend a reaction). And this is after she's been making music for over 50 years! (She won 2 other Grammy's this year, besides.) She is also widely acclaimed as being one of the best slide guitar players in the business, especially blues. So yes, she is very much deserving of a deeper dive.
I've seen Bonnie three times - she puts on memorable shows. "Angel from Montgomery." She did a fantastic cover of Talking Heads' "Burning Down the House"!
This song was written by Mike Reid and Allen Shamblin. Mike Reid wrote most of it i believe and funny thing is is that he played for the Cincinnati Bengals from 1970-1974. He also wrote "There's a stranger in my house " recorded by Ronnie Milsap that became a big hit also.
Love Has No Pride , Love Me Like A Man, Come To Me, Runaway , are some of my faves (plus some others listed below)> Lucky to have seen her three times in concert
Bonnie is one of my favorites ! Definitely recommend more of her catalogue, especially in her more common style - funky blues. “Feeling of Falling” and “Tangled and Dark” are good examples with their seriously funky bass lines. This lounge music style is uncommon in her work, but great choice of a cover !
She's in my top 3 female singers of all time. Here's one no one but me will suggest, her cover of Bob Dylan's "Million Miles" from NS Design's channel.
🎸💯 Bonnie Raitt is definitely one of the best‼🔥 This particular cut is incredibly performed‼Bonnie Raitt's voice is like no other‼Great choice for a reaction, BizMatik‼☮ ❤ 🎶
Have you ever covered Laura Nyro. She’s a very soulful singer/songwriter. I would suggest you start with Nyro version of Eli’s Comin’, which she wrote and became a hit when Three Dog Night performed it.
Ms Bonnie is a premier guitarist and writer as well as a superb vocalist. Yes, indeed her catalogue is worth delving into. Try SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT. or ANGEL FROM MONTGOMERY. There is just so much to choose from... This song tears me up. I start weeping from the first couple of musical bars.
Absolutely worth a deep dive ! I’ve seen Her many, many times ...always absolutely awesome! She and Jackson Browne used to play in my town all the time 🤙🏼
What a beautiful song and mesmerizing voice. She is a really clever songwriter. I can totally understand that "VoicePlay" wanted to try this song as acapella. Good reaction.
Hey Biz, you should check out the live version of "Tell it Like it Is" by Aaron Neville, Bonnie Raitt and Greg Allman. It is amazing how many people she has had the opportunity to perform with. She is also an amazing blues slide guitarist🎸
I'm a big fan of Bonnie Raitt's music. Here's another one of her songs "Bonnie Raitt - Just Like That (Official Lyric Video)" Raitt won the 2023 Grammy Award for Song of the Year for her original song "Just Like That" this song was written and produced by Bonnie Raitt and tells the story of a woman who is visited by the recipient of her son's heart, which he received in a life-saving organ donation operation. Fair Warning: it's sad...but beautiful...get the tissues🤧
It's a beautiful song. The last few years ever since discovering it, I always listen to the Lenny Zakatek cover of it, instead. (He sang on some of the Alan Parson's Project songs.) His emoting on this Bonnie Raitt song is wonderful. His voice sounds full and round and heartfelt.
I know I'm late to the party here but, yeah, Bonnie is definitely worth the time investment. She's one of my "deserted island" music choices because of her range - from mega ballads to blues rock over many decades. She's got the music to satisfy many moods. She also plays a killer slide guitar.
This song got me through the end of my 22 yr marriage. I had to accept he was moving on. Here I was this strong woman lying down and destroyed. I grieved but accepted what was and learned to heal. I saw that I stayed so long bc I wanted him and my middle daughter to find the peace I'd found in sobriety 10 yrs earlier. He still drank and she was an addict.. Oddly enough 2 yrs after I left they found their ways up and out. Was I offended? Nope. They came alive again which made me happy. I know now while with them I enabled and tried too hard to fix. Anyway this song reminds that I got back up when I was so low. I accepted what was real tho I didn't like it and I survived. My daughter has been clean for 8 yrs as and the ex sober for 9. We have friendship tho we've both moved on. We can mend our broken hearts when someone falls out of love with us....and still love ourselves.
The fact that this beautiful sensitive song was co written by a big powerful NFL football player, Mike Reid along with Allen Shamblin is amazing. Of course only the great Bonnie Raitt can spin it like this.
