I accidentally snapped the top growth of one of the two root over rock pines I bought. I was attempting to wire it and add movement. I have a couple of smaller branches at the bottom, but now I'm bummed out that I set back the growth. The other one is doing ok and have it sitting on a rock ready for development.
It's a 16" plant tray/saucer, normally used for houseplants etc. I got that at a hydro supply store, but there are tons on Amazon and online. amzn.to/3Glli5d
70-80% perlite and 20-30% coco coir. But, I'm finding after a few years that the coir breaks down too much so I've started adding fir bark recently. Like 30% fir bark, 20% coco and 50% perlite. This video was done before I started doing that.
Actually, there are different patterns of yellowing. If the base of the needles is yellow but the tip is darker, that is normally overwatering, or another root problem (like aphids, rot etc.) If the needles are uniformly yellow-ish, then it is normally too little water or lack of fertilizer. In this case, I think it was actually too little water and fertilizer, because the soil mix was too lean - e.g. too much perlite and not enough coco coir. Which makes it hold onto less nutrients in my experience. Thanks for your comment!
Had to google that. No, at least not on purpose. But, lately I've been listening to a podcast called "Swindled" which you can also find here on RU-vid: ru-vid.com The ambient music in the background is bespoke, by Trevor Howard (Deformr) but I've never chased him up. I like the way that the low-volume background music creates a bit more cohesion and ambiance. If you have suggestions for background music LMK.
The two songs are listed in the description if you want to chase up the creator (the first one is just the opening bit, it's the second you're talking about.)
