I clearly remember Luisa competing in the 1992 Olympics, she was wonderful and her beam, compulsory and optional was stunning! The Grozdova was the best I ever saw and her flexibility was beautiful and impressive. On optionals night the audience showed great appreciation for her performance. She was truly robbed of a spot in beam event finals. Dory Donna has posted all four of Luisa’s optional routines from Barcelona and there is footage of her compulsory beam to compare with Bontas. I'd heard of Portocarerro, but never saw her gymnastics until now. Her sideways walkover a la Grozdova (one of my favorite beam workers) was gorgeous. Beautiful form, too, as you pointed out. I'll have to search for any videos on her. Thanks for posting, Wally 👍

Lets be real, we all know the "big names" are not scored on the same scale as the not so big names in the sport. Umeh's vault in team optionals would be a 10 if done by Gutsu, Zmeskal, Miller, Boginskaya. Or maybe not since Miller's AA vault should have gotten a 10 and didn't but very good chance it would have been. Certainly much higher than 9.900. Imagine Grudneva's bars or compulsories done by Boginskaya instead of herself.
If they want to go back and deduct 0.3 from all the Romanian gymnasts at that time in exchange for restoring Andreea Raducan to her rightfully earned AA gold medal later on, I'd be cool with it.
Bontas score on compulsories was scandalous, same as Pasca, anyway Portocarrero was first reserve, we should see her qualification beam, there is no videos of her at olympics
@@thesovgc I did a search. Portocarerro's compulsory exercices (at least for beam) is on RU-vid. Remember the TriplePlay option NBC did for the '92 games? It's through that feed. Also. there is home video of all four of her optional routines. I do have a question though... why were the individual performers only in the first group? My thinking is that anyone whose compulsory scores were high and potentially qualifying for a place in the finals, they would be placed with any of those who had full teams. Just my thinking.
