Short video from the forest :-) Just sharing first feelings after switching from 2.2 tires to 2.4 high volume tires from Bontrager - XR3 Team Issue model. First impressions:
better grip during cornering - sharp pattern on tire edges makes the difference
even lower tire pressure

You won't be disappointed. Best tires I had on MTB bike so far. Good for low pressure ride, pretty solid. Also easy to seal and easy to clean after ride.

How the 2.4 tire fits in 30mm rim canyon lux rear, is it the ultimate maximum tire size rear?

Canyon claims the max tire width that fits Lux mtb bike is 2.3 but in reality you can go with 2.35 as far as I explored in the Internet. In my case Bontrager Team Issue XR3 have real width 2.35 inch and they fit very well - I see some additional space even. However I wouldn't risk to put 2.4 tires from other manufacturers . The thing is that Team Issue are higher than wider after pumping up so although the overall volume is the same as in case other 2.4 tires they are a bit narrower.

If i am looking for more general grip and stability on trails, but also ride on dirt/sand/asphalt at times, what would be better, XR3 or XR4 for a front tire ? thanks!

I would still go with XR3 as they are lighter and good enough - tubeless. Keep in mind you can get more grip on trails just by lowering tire pressure. I would prefer XR4 for riding on rocky terrain or typical mud/dirt.
