I used to think that the "New Breed" gimmick of being from the future was the worst, with them claiming to have been sent back from 2002 to "save wrestling." Then the WWE acquired WCW in 2001 and I realized it was all too tragically true

Although he made it work by having good psychology and better work, the fucking Undertaker has a pretty silly gimmick when you get right down to it. If he'd been less talented or just not taken it seriously that could just as easily have flopped.

I remember being a kid going to watch Lucha Libre in Cd. Juarez Mexico. They had Freddy Krueger as a main event heel. During the same time they had Frankenstein and Dracula and Werewolf man as a trio opening the show against Batman Robin and I think mighty mouse. Even as I kid I didn't like those gimmicks. On the plus side I got to see Eddie Guererro (18yrs old), Mil Mascaras, Blue Demon, El Santo, Villano III, etc. Good times.

Phantasmo was a magican/wrestler who made one TV appearance for WWF.

I still say The Gobboldygooker holds the highest rank in terms of ridiculousness and mind-numbing stupidity. At least with these other gimmicks, they attempted to wrestle. What the hell was the purpose of The Gobboldygooker's existence? All that "thing" did was dance appallingly. They spent a long time hyping up the mystery egg and what pops out is a man in a bird suit. Yeesh. More hilarious is when the announcers desperately did their best to sell it as the next big thing in WWE Wrestling as the entire gimmick was booed maliciously and vehemently.

The Fabs were in the AWA for awhile, and to use Corny's line, "They had to beat the pussy off with a stick!" Verne wanted to put the belts on 'em, but the Road Warriors famous "We're not goin' for the finish" killed that idea.

i dont even know what to say about bad cheesy gimmicks when The Undertaker is absolutely huge and beloved, and Sting blatantly ripping off The Crow was huge and beloved, and later he trying to blatantly rip off the Ledger version joker. and all of this after being huge for years as this spiked hair bleached blonde glitzy all American good guy for years, which even that in in of itself felt slightly indicative of Sting the rock star with the spiky blonde hair and that name. but then Jesus Christ you have some using the Sid Vicious name, that always just felt like straight up plagiarism to me.

I think nothing tops the gimmicks from the Titanes en el ring promotion from Argentina for sheer stupidity. But for some bizarre reason it seemed to work in Argentina.

Stupid gimmicks in WCW are not limited the Jim Herd days and later. I seem to remember a Crockett era tag team called The New Breed. They were supposed to be a couple of bounty hunters from the future, sent back in time to take out another wrestler with a stupid gimmick, Lazer Tron. Yes, it's not a typo, fucking Lazer Tron. He was a futuristic masked guy, with antennas on his head & a fucking laser tag receiver on his chest. He won the NWA Light Heavyweight title & formed a tag team with Boogie Woogie Man. Back to the New Breed, one of them broke his arm & had a forearm cast with a small circuit board and some wires stuck to it because he went back to the future and they gave him cybernetic repairs. Also, stupidly enough, they started a fued with the Rock N Roll Express because they hate rock music in the future and love the Beastie Boys. I swear to God I'm not making this stupid shit up!!!!!!

Or, possibly, The Gladiators who came highly heralded “from the west coast”. (I don’t think George South ever got any farther west than the west coast of Texas.) To come all that way.....TO LOSE TO THE MULKEYS! I’d love to have been a fly on the wall when Dusty (or whoever had the book at the time) had to tell George and Gary Royal that they were going to job to the Mulkeys. On the other hand, I can give you 2 reasons why they might have not minded at all. 1) They got to wear masks so almost no one knew who they were. 2) From what I read, Randy and Bill were VERY well respected by the fans, as well as the stars of the show. The Road Warriors (GOAT) liked wrestling them so much that they used to share part of their winnings with the beloved brothers. So, South and Royal might have been happy to do the job.
