@psydust if you say there are "better poppers" out there, keep in mind that they're only "better" because they improved their skills upon a foundation that SAM built. HE is the innovator. It didn't exist until he did it. All the so called "better poppers" took what he did to another level physically. In my previous post I got cut off! I meant to say not to mention the sub styes like scarecrow, puppet style, etc. That go into the dance contribute to Sam "repeating the same moves" that's because those moves ARE the dance. So many dancers today think you just "do what you want" and call it your style. You can do that, but if you do and neglect the basics of the style you ain't doing boogaloo, you're just dancing.
@psydust he does "repeat" but that's true of all dancers who have "signature moves" that fit their temperament , mood, personality and physicality. Keep in mind that in this clip Sam is an older man and as such his movement is going to be a lot different than it was when he was younger.
@frankejara you mean where are the talents in Oakland that he is still dancing like? Not only did he steal a lot of moves, but he took the names as well. Creepin, Puppet, Scarecrow, etc. There were so many different styles that existed in Oakland back then that the style that Sam is doing is only a small part of it. And yes there are still cats from Oakland that are still getting down from that time period. If he had been honest from day one he still be famous but without the controversy.

@chaosnorder I was in LA, BBoy Summit 2004. They had a panel. Many OGs was there. Sam and EB's was there and cats from Black Resurgents was there also. And no one say nothing in front of 3.000 people. No one argue with the fact that Sam created this style. I got that on video. Plus no one was dancing at the same way that EBs. So, They had their chance to show the world the truth, but, no.They keep quiet and defended the style that they created in Oakland. What is unique but not same as Sam.
@chaosnorder Dancing in 70! My mon was dancing also... So, what does mean? Just because you are more old you created everything? Sam can created his style in 78, 88, 98 what ever... What the problem? I respect Black Messengers... they are pioneers in their style. What I don't understand is why they need claim about the way that Sam dance? Just because Sam called Boogaloo? If Sam called what his dance like "Sam's Dance" will be different?

@frankejara Sam does not know nothing about the real boogaloo style coming from Oakland. He was just picking up bits and pieces from what he saw at the Fresno Relay's. Then he saw The Black Messengers on the Gong Show. The last post said you were 38, you don't shit about this dance cause you were too young. How can a country boy from Fresno create something that started around the mid sixties in Oakland. Since your all up in Sam's butt tell him to come out and be truthful.
@frankejara There is style of music called Boogaloo. I dance from 60's that James Brown did called Boogaloo, a latin dance called Boogaloo... Even before Oakland. Go do some research.

Even if Sam wasn't not the creator, the most important is the fact that looks good... and I never ever saw any dancer from another area that dance the same way like the Electric Boogaloos. @frankejara.. Who are the OG's from Oakland that you saw? Name some names. Your 38? You from Oakland? And as far as him looking good, compared to the cats from Oakland, he looks like garbage. And if you know anything about Oakland people did not film back then. The tech was not it is today. That style does not even look anymore because its been overdone. Know your history, cause your messing up.
