Booger McFarland thank you for being so real! That's why you play the game! One person doesn't make a team! Just admit it they didn't want FSU in regardless if Jordan was hurt or not. It's just an excuse. Shame on them! An undefeated team should be in regardless. Now if they have the same records then make that decision period! They earned the right on the field. If the shoe was on the other foot. Meaning Alabama was in FSU's position and FSU was in Alabama's. I think we can agree they would have never done this to Alabama what they did to FSU. I think NCAA has been bought and is a SEC company. They are not objective in their decision making.

@@sarahmccoy1941 We do know. They of course went with Bama over an undefeated team because Greg Sankey of the SEC said on Saturday this event cannot happen without an SEC team. He has too much power and influence on NCAA and the committee. They never would do to Alabama or any top team in the SEC what they did to FSU. We have over 15 years of BCS and 4 team playoff data that shows this bias and preferential treatment.

This is not about having "Florida State back", this is about right and wrong in college football. Booger has been keepin it real for as long as I can remember.
I honestly thought when looking up his bio I was going to see that he played for FSU but was surprised it was LSU. If LSU had gone undefeated and not gotten in Booger would’ve…… hell I don’t even know what he would’ve done to be honest.

There are upsets every week in college football. To say a team can't win a game prior to it being played is foolish. Every sports commentator out there saying FSU didn't stand a chance needs to find a new profession. It's embarrassing to listen to. At the end of the day a team that goes undefeated has the upper hand over a team with a loss. Shame on everyone trying to justify the committee's decision. Games are won on the field!!

I am with my man Booger…Florida State took care of theirs business with 0 (zero) loss…they are IN. Now…Alabama was ranked 8 before the game against Georgia. Florida State was ranked better than Alabama. Georgia lost against a ranked 8…naturally Georgia is out of the 4. Michigan moves to 1, Washington to 2, Texas to 3, Florida State 4. This would make the whole lot of sense. Also…the committee are not using theirs heads but theirs emotions…they wanted Alabama to get in and theirs excuses are Alabama beat Georgia number 1 team…Florida State played their third string Qb and they didn’t perform well. Duh…a third string Qb and won the game…that should be a PLUS for Florida State to get in. These people who were part of the committee should be BANNED from involving with College Football period. If I have the power I would ask the FBI to investigate if there weren’t any favoritism or Bribed to these committees people. That would make sure that the next committee don’t corrupt the game
I’m tired of these idiots trying to sound righteous in this situation even though they’re dead wrong. If you agree with the 4 teams that’s picked then how tf do you feel bad for FSU? You cant genuinely feel bad for someone or something if you feel they weren’t done wrong or slighted in a way. I appreciate booger for standing for the truth though.
DP said it out loud: it's a television show. So much for merit when it comes to the margins; it's about being the "bigger name/blue blood." FSU could have been in in place of either Texas or Bama, but the committee chose to fill the 3 and 4 slots with the two programs they think will get the higher ratings and make the most money. Unless changes are made, the same approach will be used when the playoff expands next year, squeezing in a third or fourth team from the B1G and/or the SEC at the expense of a deserving second team from someplace like the Big XXII or ACC. The "power conferences" did it to the "mid-majors" in the basketball tournament, and now they are doing it even amongst themselves in football. To paraphrase Orwell, "all power conferences/programs are equal, some are more equal than others."
Booger I didn’t know who you were until a few days ago, but by gosh you’re my hero. And be clear it’s not only that I’m a NOLE and you’re making the points we’re dying to hear, it’s because your defending the heart and soul of what these games are about. Every little kid with athletic dreams is depending on people like you to keep sports honest and focused on the game instead of profits. For those who think this will stop at college sports, just look how crazy we’ve gotten with data and media coverage over high school kids the last ten years. If college football is now the NFL minors, It’s not a far stretch to imagine high school sports becoming national entertainment as we seek to replace what was great about CFB. How long them before we start making the same mistakes. Child actors can make millions, why wouldn’t you assume the same argument will one day be made for high school athletes? It’s sad and insane.
this is the difference between an actual athlete that played the game and knows what it takes to compete at the highest levels, and a soft old guy that has sat behind a desk his entire career talking about those athletes and the games. DP just exposed himself as nothing but a corporate lackey.
Again, if that is how it is done, by creating sexy matchups, why would TCU or Cincinnati ever make a playoff? This year was different because a threat of not including SEC. Call it what it is. You cant have a sexy playoff without a team from the largest fan base. It has made a mockery of CFB.
That's easy... because this year it would have left out the famous SEC, those other years the SEC wasn't at risk of not being in the top 4..... it's bad but it's just that simple.
So it's not about "right" or the sport, it's about "show". Dangerous road for sure, because eventually people will stop taking it seriously. Not now, not next year, but in ten years it'll just be a joke. Hope they earn enough money now to last them forever because in 10 years people will stop tuning in, OR it'll just be like the WWE. At least Dan had the balls to be a prick in public. That's a step up from "the committee". Thanks, Booger, for having integrity and the courage to speak the truth at the possible expense of your job. It's disgusting to see this attitude by the sports journalists. Eh, it shouldn't be this way, but it is this way. They're exactly the reason it is this way. "I shouldn't be overweight, but I am." Then proceeds to shovel donuts in mouth.
The NCAA's decision to allow 2 imperfect teams, Alabama and Texas into the CFP while leaving out the perfect 13-0 Florida Seminoles has really tainted the upcoming CFP.
So it’s really all about GREED! What has happen to society? How can you look in the face of all those young men from FSU and tell them, they didn’t do enough! They did everything you asked from them and still it wasn’t enough! This is just WRONG 🤬
It's nice you admit it's about money and not about the sport. You agreeing with the teams in means you just want a paid show. You can go to exhibition games for that.
A few thoughts - (1) the principle of letting the players and teams sort it out on the field is no longer sacrosanct, (2) the regular season effectively means nothing, (3) the committee is structured to pick whoever it wants without meaningful account, (4) media control of conferences is corrosive, and (5) widespread trust in the process has been compromised.
I do believe Florida State and the ACC should jointly file a lawsuit, they've got a good case. and the ACC was 4-1 against the SEC this year, that's a stone cold fact.
The commentators are not Sports Analyst like Booger, He has a desire in the game still being played on the field...But his counterpart is a Television Executive who dresses down from the suit and tie, so you think he shares your sentiment but he loves the craft of money and power and how can we spin this to suit the real objective. Never has College Football been solely about money. Methodically killing these kids dreams, willingly.
Dan just said money is the deciding factor. So why do we play the games? The games don’t matter. ACC was 6-4 against SEC but that don’t matter either. Honest question for everyone, would you still watch the college football playoff if FSU was in over Alabama? Me personally I would. This money and ratings when it comes to the best teams doesn’t seem statistically backed.

Let's not call this thing a Playoff. It is not a playoff. Playoffs in sports are for determining a winner based on who wins games. This is a beauty pageant, so don't call it a sports playoff. The NFL cannot prevent an 8-8 Atlanta team from hosting a playoff game because the NFL is a real sport, where wins matter. If the people who want to make sports into beauty pageants get their way, then I'm afraid we're all going to be watching the Yankees or Red Sox play the Dodgers and Cubs every year in the World Series. Because if the Tampa Bay Rays have the most wins, who cares because that doesn't get ratings for ESPN.
Dan fence sits too often. There's really not a discussion here - FSU is undefeated, they earned the right to play in the CFB playoffs. The committee chickened out and didn't want to make a hard decision that would negatively impact the SEC or Big 12 so they penalized FSU, ACC.
Dan Patrick is part of the problem. Always has been! But at least he is being honest and saying what we already know, "It's not about who is the best, it's about the $$"
I can’t believe Booger has really looked very deep into his argument or he wouldn’t be making. Last year, TCU, with the same 11-2 record as Bama (who was ranked 5th), got in and Bama was left out. Why? Because TCU was "more deserving" as conf. champion. Well, we all saw what happened. TCU lost by 58. No way was the committee was going to let that happen again. FSU only played TWO teams, with less than four losses, and that was LSU in game one, and they ended up with three losses and Louisville. They also only played FOUR teams with winning records and only TWO teams in the top 20. On the other hand, Bama played FOUR top FIFTEEN teams with a total of seven losses between them and only three teams with losing records. The committee picked Bama , because they "deserved" to be in by playing one of the hardest schedules in the nation, while FSU played one of the easiest, and losing only to Texas by 10 points, early in the season. That would be the same Texas team that is ranked 3rd in the playoff.😢. My guess is Booger doesn’t know any of these facts, or he wouldn’t have the same opinion.
What a bunch of hypocrites. The same haircuts excusing what was done to Florida State by spouting "College football is a business, it's a T.V. show, it's about the revenue and bringing in the most money" will do a complete 360 degree turn when you mention paying players. Then it's about "the history of the game and pageantry and amateurism."

Shame on you Dan Patrick. The NFL can’t and doesn’t pick playoff teams other than by wins and losses and college football should not be able to do that either. Thats fixing football. Football is not a beauty pageant - beauty pageant participants don’t get carded off the field with torn ACL‘s and fractured arms. And when I go to a football game -whether it’s college or the NFL, I’m a fan- I live in a city that supports its football team. I’m not a member of a studio audience. An undefeated team with a record of 13 and 0 and winning its conference championship should be in the playoffs. I don’t care if the kicker has to come in and run the wildcat.
Booger gets it. Wins matter. Losses matter too. They took what we thought was a playoff and turned it into the SEC Skating Invitational. No respect for those games now. I don't agree with Dan, but he gets it too. This is no longer football, and certainly not a championship tournament. It's simply selling TV ads.
Now see... all this is doing is exposing how the media sees this really. Booger is the only decent one here who's said this is wrong what they've done. And everyone else who's in media has said "yea it sucks and this is wrong but it's right for ratings and a better product". At the end of the day they're all saying it's no about the sport. Thanks Booger for your passionate support after this ESPN screw job. Surprised to hear Dan P. say it's all about match-ups and money and he agrees with that. College football isn't pure and money has always been the engine, but there has always been enough of the amateur element to make fan bases passionate because anything is possible. That's all gone now and people like Patrick are part of the problem for supporting garbage like this.
FSU has a top 10 traveling fan base. Even when they were terrible they still drew huge numbers on TV. Tate Rodemaker was going to be able to play in the playoff. Such nonsense to have all of these excuses to keep them out.
This is shameful. Noles defense can beat any other college teams. We have a great kicker and punter. Not their decision to decide if Noles will win or loose. They did not even give them a change to win or loose. They should have had that change. Favoritism or YOU CFB. You can’t base your bias opinion on a team loosing their quarter back. They were given NO CHANCE and that is criminal. Never done that way before and Hope they sue someone.

College football has always been about who “looks better”, human polls decided the champion from the start until the bcs and human polls were a part of that too. The playoff is the best system we have ever had.
Way to go Booger. What’s done on the field s/b the only thing that counts. The committee was DEAD wrong to exclude the Noles b/c of some boom boom reasoning that Travis got hurt. That was a ploy to control the money. Regardless of who’s hurt and whose team is not the same b/c of that injury - their record s/h allowed them play. Then whatever happens on the field is the determining factor
The new reality in college football -- It is two power conferences, not 5. ESPN has a huge financial investment in the SEC. Any team outside the SEC and B1G is on the outside looking in. It has nothing to do with the 4 best teams, attractive matchups, etc. nah man. It is a P2 world, and the ACC ain't in it. That's it. Stop trying to spin it, and call it a beauty pageant.
At least if you kept Alabama out, yes they'd be angry, but... the program/players/coach could all move on, understanding that it was in their control. They could have won that game!!!! And they didnt!!! Instead, they got beat by double digits, at night, in their own house. It's ON THEM. Their control. By leaving FSU out, you have eliminated ON THE FIELD play, control of one's own destiny on the field. Entirely. The program, players, coach, fans... all did everything possible from day 1. They knew the optics of the SEC was biased, so they made sure to schedule traditional powerhouse SEC teams to bolster the resume (schedules made years in adldvance mind you), in UF and LSU. They won every game, 13-0 perfect season, and the conference championship. They share 1 common opponent with Bama, and beat LSU by more points, and held them to less points. By leaving FSU out, you ruin the very integrity of college football... on the field play is done. What your basically saying, is everyone MUST join the SEC to be given the benefit of doubt. All recruits must now pick only two conferences because NOW, they've seen a group of 13 old people behind closed doors will negate on the field play. The end result of this, is join the SEC and don't break a leg. What a great message. So much easier for the nation to accept just dropping the team that LOST BY DOUBLE DIGITS AT HOME, instead of screwing a team that has NOT shown they can be beaten. You may THINK they'd lose based on future hypothetical matchups, and that's what this has now come to. Future opinions of hypothetical matchups matter more than on the field play. Just look at Oregon Washington, everyone had Oregon, 10pts favorites... and then they PLAYED ON THE FIELD. Washington was given their chance and proved you all wrong.

The ACC was 6-4 against the sec this year. We also don't really know how good UGA or Alabama really is outside of conference. Alabama played one major program outside of conference and lost, and UGA played one major program outside of conference and squeaked out a win against GaTech. FSU has 2 wins against major programs outside if conference, LSU and Florida.
The ACC was 6-4 against the SEC!! And FSU had 2 of those wins. All these people are saying the ACC is weak....the same could be said of the Big 12 (Texas and Oklahoma, the rest of the league is average, below average, the Big 10 (Michigan and Ohio St, the rest of the league is average, below average. the SEC Georgia, Alabama, LSU, the rest of the league average...these are facts people!!!

Massive fan base? So does Ala. Also, FSU QB situation is a total mess. Did not play well on back end and JT went down. Alabama is the better team as of end of season when it counts and earned its spot. FSU just not there yet and plays in a WEAK conference. Gotta get out the ACC Seminoles!

The fact Georgia couldn't run on them showed they weren't truly the best team in the country. Oh and SOS is a joke
Booga is a person from Tuscaloosa that has a hatred so strong for Alabama that its an illness. Its sad but he would found any reason to keep Bama out. Watching that ACC championship was Watching paint dry.
McFarland is on point. Every single critic who thinks they know the game alway say “I’m just relaying information to you from the higher ups” …. The difference is people like MacFarland had to earn their stripes by playing the game. These kids from Florida State played their asses off and won on the field, in the trenches, overcoming injuries, and beating 2 SEC teams! 13-0 means A LOT to Florida State and it’s completely disrespectful and out right criminal for what the CFB bureaucracy did to them!!!
This is the second time a Florida school has gone undefeated and been screwed by the committee. How quickly people forget UCF, who people said was not good enough, yet they went on to beat a very good Auburn team in their Bowl Game. I guess leaving it up to the players on the field means less money in the pockets of the morons on the committee.
