I've watched many videos on this. Yours has been the most helpful so far. I've read the comments too. It's so nice of you to share patterns. Many people want to sell you the pattern. Thank you!
You're welcome! So glad it helped! When you're done with your book, hope.over to my Fb group page (Crafted Sweetly) and post your book. Would love to see it! -Diana
Hi ma'am I am from India. I watched most of the folding videos. But your video is the most understanding. U show all the things very clearly. Thank you. But how I make the patterns. I am in some confuse
The skipped pages do not have cardstock. If you do a 180 fold like in this pattern, you wouldn't see the cardstock, and if you don't do a 180 fold, then there is no place to add the cardstock - hope that makes sense. Happy folding! - Diana
That's amazing! Thank you for this tutorial! I have a question: what happens if I follow this tutorial but instead of skipping the pages, I just go and cut&fold every page of the book?
The pattern would have to be adjusted so you have measurements on every page. Result, the image will be much stronger. Let me know if you have any other questions.. Diana
I use Wunderfold to make Cut and Fold patterns now. It's pretty easy and I have a basic video for Wunderfold. They've added some new features that were released after the video. Here that video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qsXRKHf9as4.html
Great video Diana - very well explained - for some reason today, my brain was stuck on coloring the lower end of the folds and not near the top - lol my brain! Question: when you fold in the first and last marks on a page, instead of cutting - can you do this with a shadow fold? and also can you do this with a book that you already cut those first and last folds - I have a book that I thought would look great with the folded marks (is that an innie?) but they were already cut - can I go back and still fold them in? thank you
Folding in the first and last mark and cutting in between is a combi fold. I supposed you can do a shadow fold if you fold that skipped page to the same point as the page you're cutting, but that would mean you need additional pages and it might distort the picture. I have not tried it. If you've already cut the first and last fold - did you do that only to a couple of pages, then you can use tape. If you've cut the entire book, then I would probably start over. Hope that helps.
This is all great! However, I wonder how you decide how many pages your book should have. How do I keep the proportions? If I fold a face like David Bowie's, I can't take 200 or 1000 pages. How do I find out the necessary number of pages so that it doesn't become too thin or too fat?
I don't know if there is a formula per say (at least I haven't figure one out yet!). I have found that, for me, portrait photos worked fine with books in the 325-375 page range. Horizontal photos would require more pages, probably in the 450-550 (possibly more) range. I try and stay away from horizontal images because I'd rather do a couple of portrait books than one book that's 600+pages. Other things can be a factor in the number of pages you need. If a book has really thin pages, you may need more pages than normal. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you, but the above should help.
how do you learn how to create your own pattern to make it look like the picture you want i understand the folding part but how to design a pattern and to make it look how you want seems difficult
It's not hard. I use Bookami software. I did a video explaining how to make your own patterns. Here is the video link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1EW5t67BU_M.html
Hi Diana...I really love your videos. I sent a msg in the Facebook Group but noone responded to me. Really hope u can help me out to complete a book folding project please🙂
It's called a bone folder. It comes in different shapes. You can get just a straight one or a set. Here are two links: amzn.to/3S7jbWN or amzn.to/3s15eyR
There is one main 180 fold - the one to which all the pages are folded to. The extra fold does appear as another 180 fold, but it's really just folding the tab back based on the pattern.
@@pilargarciamontes6154 It's available for free in my FB group. Ask to join the FB group and it's in the files. Link to group is in the description of the video.
@@farjanajahan825 Haha...I didn't, but now do :) If you have a sharp image, I can try and make a pattern for you if you'd like. Feel free to msg me on my FB group. Thanks.
@@CraftedSweetly I don't have fb ..I give you one tik tok I'd so you can understand @madeonringwood ..This is not my ..Just I saw this video and I want to make this bookfolding
@@farjanajahan825 Thanks for sending! Beautiful work! I would need the images to create the pattern. Perhaps check with @madeonringwood and see if she can create the patterns for you. I would, but I would have to purchase the images.
I was going to offer to send you the pattern custom made for your book for free. But, there are lots of patterns on Etsy you can purchase if you prefer. -Diana
