It is amazing that this is free content! This is the single most valuable piece of content for Weddinng photographers on RU-vid period! Thank you Katelyn for sharing!
I had a long period of time that i didn’t know what to do with my business. Then i found your videos and now im back fully motivated to create new content. Thankyou Katelyn
I've been shooting professionally for 14 years and this is some of the most resourceful information I have come across since I started. I am not a big fan of paying for advertising so this is all golden. Thanks Katelyn.
So helpful, because there are those “services” lying-in-wait to charge us for leads and marketing. This applies across all business. Thank you. I needed it!
This has got to be one of your most valuable videos yet. Thank you so much for freely and generously giving away such excellent content. You are one of my all time heroes!
Wow. I’ve gathered a bunch of these sort of tidbits while watching you do weddings in KJ All Access. To see you keep a calm and collected presence is empowering. You’re an extra help (like getting lipstick or mud out of a brides dress) and you are an amazingly gentle commanding authority. I love watching you work and it has been the fire inside of me in wanting to really focus on weddings. Thank you so much for showing us how great of a service you provide and for guiding us to do the same!
I love editing soon as I get home. Not a big wedding but just every day photo shoots lol. I just can’t help it I’ll feel crazy too if I don’t start editing right after. To me the love of eating is just as high as doing the photos. It’s fun
Amazing philosophy on business, I am inspired. My friend always sends a farm picture calendar to her best CSA customers of the year, and I thought that was a thoughtful touch. A few others I'm saving away for someday soon when I can start my photo/marketing business, thanks for walking us through what you do and why.
Excellent advices! If I was getting married, I would hire you as my photographer. I have never seen one of your wedding albums; but by the way you present your ideas in all your videos, I can see that you are worth those 10 K. Wish you the biggest success in your career!
Gold! Such a fabulous advice for all photographers. I'm not a wedding photographer but I'll be implementing many of these ideas into my own business. Thank you, Katelyn!
OMG! This is gold!! Even though I have seen a couple of these tips before, the way YOU present them is simply amazing. I’m definitely looking at what I do in a different way and I can’t wait to follow your advice and watch my business grow. Thank you so much!
I love all that you share on RU-vid I find it all very useful I do have a question for you. On wedding day how big is your crew is it just you and your husband or do you have a few extra people helping throughout the day? I ask because everything you said in this video is worth doing however I don’t know when I would find the time to cull and make a slide show, take pictures, and still find time to make everyone happy lol.
THANK YOU for this super informative and helpful video Katelyn! You are my biggest source of inspiration when it comes to photography, and this video was just great!
I am a photographer in Denmark that focuses on elopements (couples from rest of EU coming to Copenhagen to get married ) and I wish your advises (at least the first suggestion) would apply to this type of photoshoots as well ;)
You present yourself in a very appealing manner. What you're doing beyond anything else, is selling yourself. What I'd like to ask you what your thoughts are on someone that has shot for ages, but is looking to jumping into the wedding photography game later in life. On one hand I feel that as long as you're likable and can execute, then nothing else matters. On the other hand, I've seen some say that being a young, or younger photographer, is a definite advantage? Your thoughts please? Ty.
I love how you stress the importance of good business workflow and processes. Many photographers think relying solely on artistic talent will make their businesses profitable.
Do you share a list of the other vendors in your blog posts? I was just wondering if that would help the vendors recommend you more often when they know they're getting more out of putting your name out there because they know they're getting out more too
Another video idea: if you are a sole photographer on a wedding day how and where do you store or put all your lenses, lights, SD cards, batteries so they are easily accessible all day.
2:20 Is it possible to buy a copy of the book (The Wedding Experience)? I haven’t shot a wedding before and I think that book would be a great help for understanding the timeline.
We have a photo release in our contract and honestly, we have only had one issue with this and that was because a vendor did a VERY poor job and we didn't send them images anyway because they treated our client so poorly.
I've always waited to send vendors images until the client has the full gallery because I feel like the couple wouldn't want multiple people posting photos from their wedding before they even have a chance to post. Your clients never have an issue with that?
We never have! But that's because they see their blog post so quickly! And the saw the same-day slideshow too and sometimes we send those images to them that night! So they have access to the images themselves and I think that's why there isn't an issue!
I checked out your website because I enjoy your videos. They’re very helpful. But I’m lost on which course to take and I didn’t see any pricing? Is there a way to get all of them?
Here is a link to all three of our technical courses (more intermediate!) : shop.katelynjames.com/shop/kj-3-course-bundle-product/. The Starter Course is best if you’re a beginner!: shop.katelynjames.com/kj-photography-starter-course-product
I do most of the tips sometimes unconsciously (when I feel good , when I feel like they deserve , etc) , thank you 4 making me realise how important it is to do them all every time cause every couple should be treated this way 🥺🤍
