This is a great video for beginners. I am starting to get interested in this, but some of those I've seen are really complex. Thank you for taking the time to actually teach these methods. This will be helpful when I start doing it. You are a good teacher.
This lady was on a TV series called, Best in Miniature, it was a really great series. I loved everything she made. I’m really happy I came upon this site. She is wonderful
Omg Tina this is the most informative thing I've seen on the book nooks! I love the angled mirror for continuity, and the lighting...a 9 volt! Rechargeables 🤗 Thank You! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! Btw I miss my Granny will you adopt me?? Please?? 😁 She would be much older than you if still living but I miss our times of crafting together. You'd be crafting Granny on steroids with your knowledge! 😉 New subscriber here and going to check out your videos tonight. Bless you lady.
Greetings from across The Pond 🙋♂ I'm new to book nooking, so I found this to be a very informative and instructive video; just what I was looking for! I've also been experimenting with adding an infinity mirror and leds inside, which also creates that illusion of depth. The book nooks, and box frame dioramas, that I have so far made, have been scratch built; not the kit form that a lot of people buy to construct, but the basic principles are the same. Anyway, I've liked 'n' subbed! 👍
A few of you want my web site address. I don't really have one, but am the webmaster (and workshop coordinator) for our club website - www.miniature-enthusiasts-of-edmonton.com and have an Etsy store. at www.etsy.com/ca/shop/MiniMinutia. Hope that helps.
Thank you so very much for taking the time to explain and demonstrate this. I am planning out a book nook for the wife for Christmas and this is a HUGE help. Thank you again.
Okay, I already knew everything you said. But I'm blown away by your attention to explain the stuff... and by the way, you're the cutest granny I've seen around here so far. ^^
Thank you Miss Tina for being so incredibly informative!!! I wish you were one of my teachers at school - I might have done a bit better haha!! (Not shaming the teachers I had, but one more wouldn't have hurt)
Sorry, nothing on adding a window. As far as scale goes, the video was made using 1:12 scale accessories, but any scale could be used. It depends on how you want to furnish it. Hope that helps...
Hi awesome content! Thank you for the insight as to where to place a mirror. Would you mind telling me where you buy your mirrors for this purpose? Thank you!
Olá, Tina! Estou começando nesse universo do Book Nook. Essa aula sobre o uso do espelho é a mais completa que encontrei até agora. Já assisti duas vezes. Vou seguir sua sugestão de fazer os testes na prática. Muito obrigada! Aqui me chamam de Tina também! ❤
If I remember correctly, it was 8" tall by 4" wide. But I used flexible miorror tile, nbot a real mirrow, so you can cut it to whatever size you want. Hope that helps...
Great video! I'm working on using a mirror to give the illusion of stairs. What type of mirror are you using? I'm having a difficult time finding just a simple rectangular mirror.
Hi Tina thanku so much for all these wonderful hints and tips. Just found your channel and have subscribed. I saw a book nook the other day that had the ceiling lowered into the box by a inch or so, so the whole ceiling was available to use for electrics 😃
Good Afternoon Tina.. I just saw your video. Very interesting and well done. I would like to know what is the mirror material used and where could one purchase it?
Thank you very much for sharing this information. You answered many questions and fired off all sorts of ideas that need to come out of my brain. Stay safe and thank you.
Thank you so much! I have had so many questions about the mirrors in book nooks. Once I heard the info I felt a little dumb, it is a bit elementary, but I needed to hear the info! Now I need an intro to wiring!
Thank you so much for this! I have a really hard time understanding this kind of stuff theoretically without banging rocks together to see the proof of concept (which would have taken an untenable amount of time without this instruction). I'm attempting to accomplish this in life size in my library and all of the other YT vids on book nooks etc I've seen totally skip over this part of how to actually angle the mirror and what you need where in favor of showing their process. (Hoping u have the same on infinity mirrors)
Thank you very much for your video. It was very enlightening and I plan to make a book nook with infinity mirror. Maybe you could explain how to do it the best way. I'm subscribing to your channel ♥️
@@tinamacdonaldminiminutia Thank you for your answer Tina. Do you mean one way or two ways mirror? I'm confused but I've seen acrilic ones, both of them, that do the job pretty good even better than the glass ones. Sorry, my English is not very good, I'm from Spain 😅
I'm afraid I can't help you there... I just googled images for library shelving and them played around with some graphics till it looked the way I wanted it to.
I tend to call it just Styrofoam, but the proper name is Extruded Polystyrene Insulation (Foamular) made by Owen Corning. There are a number of types on the market in a wide variety of thicknesses. I use the 1/2" for Book Nook purposes. I also have some 2 1/2" thick stuff which can be carved into incredible stone work or bases for 1:48 inch buildings (think a castle sitting on a craggy rock). Hope this helps...
This video is so helpful! I couldn’t figure out how certain book nooks look like they just keep going off to the side and this video totally explained how to do it. I’m so happy to save myself from buying a super expensive kit and now able to make my own, thank you so much!!!
