Hello, dear friends!!
Wherever you are, I hope that you are well and in a warm, cozy place ✨
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been spreading alarmingly fast around the world and as a precaution, many businesses in Portland are having their employees work from home and are encouraging everyone to stay indoors. The company I'm working for is one such business; so for the time being, we're all working from home and I'm, therefore, preparing for a week (or two?) indoors ☕️📚 I'm going to try to make the most of the situation! This will involve lots of yummy tea, inspiring music, alllll the fuzzy socks, and many candles.

So I have just come across your channel last week and have been making my way through all your videos and they are soothing my soul right now. I live in London, where bookshops are open but I still don't feel safe casually going to them as all the magical elements of bookshops like browsing aimlessly and flicking through pages for hours is just not possible at the moment due to the pandemic. So watching these bookshop vlogs have been an absolute joy, although they make me even more desperate for things to go back to normal. I swear I'm going to spend a whole day in Foyles (a big bookshop in London) when all of this is over!

I'm so glad you've found your way here, Niki! It's about the same situation here in Oregon. I want to get lost in Powell's so badly but it's not safe at the moment. When it is safe again, I think I'll do a readathon in a bookstore with lots of tea & snacks✨

As someone from Yorkshire, I can highly recommend visiting the moors in summertime, although they do have an equal but very different kind of beauty in the winter too!

I just found your channel and I'm so overwhelmingly enchanted I started to cry of all the beauty and joy of all the books 😍 (I'm an HSP) but yeah, wish I could have found your channel sooner but I have now and I'm really happy about it, especially in this stupid pandemic.. also stay safe!

Thank you so much!! And yes, I did indeed make the leaf collage on my wall-- it's all the leaves I collected my very first Fall in Portland 🍁 I collected 10x more leaves this past Fall and will be making similar collages to sell. The leaves are just about ready ✨

When you were describing/reviewing Withering Heights, it made me think of a book that is a prequel to Brontë’s “Jane Eyre” called “Wide Sargasso Sea” by Jean Rhys. It’s another book that has beautiful writing but is also painful to read.

Jillie Alexander Jillie Alexander Hi, Julie!! Ahhh I love that you’ve describe my channel as whimsical ✨ And I’m glad you share my affinity for Danish Culture! I was just thinking about seniors in high school this morning as they are currently/have applied to colleges and I’m hoping they (you) get to have their first semester as freshman on campus and NOT online. I am a Virginia Tech Alumni!! I LOVED my time there, I was even a tour guide. I know they over accepted students the last couple of years so living situations have been less than ideal. Winters can also be tough (especially coming from Florida) as it’s very very cold and windy! But BEAUTIFUL campus, lovely professors, and a generally kind student body! I hope you get into all of your dream colleges 🤗

Chandra Moore Thank you so much, Chandra!! I’m actually flattered because I made the leaf “prints” myself!! They’re actually leaves that I’ve collected and pressed for many months. The one above my couch is made up of leaves from my very first autumn in Portland. I collected about 10x more leaves this past autumn and will be making and selling collages of varying sizes this year! They’ve almost finished their pressing period 🍁🍂🍃

Perhaps I enjoy your videos so much because I too am a Hufflepuff. Whatever the case, you have a lifetime fan here. Love how Mr. Roo just steals every scene he's in. I had the same problem with The Night Circus. I am madly in love with Erin Morgenstern's writing, but after so long I get so frustrated because I just want more resolution lol.

I wasn't the only one who disliked Wuthering Heights! Nothing bad to dislike a classic, I think. I didn't even see where's the love story that everyone loved so much. I just suffered all the way through the book and barely finished it.

The books that are cheaper are used-books. You can buy the books brand new at full-price or buy a used copy for less money. It's wonderful!

helloooo!! yay a new weekend vlog! i was so happy to see that you enjoyed the starless sea! the night circus by morgenstern is also just as whimsical :) i am excited to see what you think of an enchantment of ravens, i read it and found the writing so good but the plot was lacking so 3.5 stars from me! an ember in the ashes is one of my fav fantasy series and the last book in the quartet comes out later this year!! yay!! oh and i am reading a lot of mary oliver at the moment thanks to you! still in having exams but that lightens up my mood!

Hi, friend! Thank you for watching my video(s) and always sharing such positive comments 🤗 To answer your questions-- I don't typically sweeten my teas, though I have lately grown fond of adding oat milk and honey to any black teas I drink (which is rare). I mainly drink herbal teas! My favorite tea brand has always been Celestial Teas (I've even visited their tea house). I love how their tea is packaged in wax paper and I've yet to find a peppermint tea I like better than Celestials 🌿 (lol so many "teas" in this message) Also, boooo Heathcliff

The largest book store I've ever been to was Haslams' in St. Petersburg, Fl. I'd like to visit Powells' some day. One of the nicest, coziest book stores I've been to, is The Highland Book Store, in Ft. William, Scotland. And, I never liked Wuthering Heights either.

I saw you reading your herbology book in the beginning of the video and I'm so happy that my copy of "The illustrated herbiary" just arrived \O/ I'll make lots of tea for different purposes now that I have this book to guide me Hahaha I'm probably gonna read Emma this month as well, because I plan to go to the movies with my friends to check out the new movie and there are some details of the story that I don't remember. And I'm curious about The starless sea, but at the same time when a book have so many interruptions in the middle of the story I tend to get less motivated or distracted. Currently, I'm reading Norwegian wood by Haruki Murakami and I'm in love with this book, I highlighted many parts, I can't put it down and I feel that it's gonna break my heart Haha and talking about japanese books and stuff, this week I watched the movie Perfect blue!!! Have you ever watched it? It's so mindblowing, and disturbing.

Aaahhh, there are so many wonderful things in this comment!! 1. The Illustrated Herbiary sounds AMAZING! And you'll be making your own teas?? I've just begun to dabble in pine tea-- it's all I'm craving at the moment and living where I do, there is edible pine everywhere! 2. I've actually never read "Emma" and I'm sooo excited to have something new to me by Jane Austin. I hope we both love it and the movie adaptation. 3. I haven't read "The Norwegian Wood"! I've read, and thoroughly enjoyed, "Wild Sheep Chase" by Haruki Murakami-- is it part of a series? I thought maybe I had missed the first book or something because at times, I was very very confused. I loved studying Japanese culture while also reading the story though. 4. I haven't watched "Perfect Blue"-- I'm very intrigued though!

I can't remember if you have already read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern but if you haven't its really good! It has the same immersive world experience as The Starless Sea as well as a wrapped up plot!

@@MorganLong No I was never afraid of it, it is more of a mysterious, cozy book with a magical element. I always reread it at least once a year. It is the perfect Fall read but I can read it whenever! I don't want to give away too much but her descriptions are just so good!
