Nice choices, Vin. I read four novels from the original series in June. I was in a Vonda N. McIntyre kick for a while, but then I really loved Christopher L. Bennett’s Living Memory. I’m co-hosting Rocket Summer now in July, so I’ve moved into Classic Science Fiction these past two weeks, but I’ll be back to Star Trek when we get to the 1960’s in classic SF. I’m loving both of these events! 😊🖖🚀💫

I haven’t read any of Bennett’s books yet. I’m glad to hear you liked it. He’s definitely an author I’d like to try out.

@@revenantreads I don’t have a lot to compare him to in this genre, but I thought he was terrific.

BookTrek is an all year round thing for me since I discovered STAR TREK fiction around 1986. I'd been a fan of STAR TREK since my dad introduced me to the series reruns when I was five or six. (I'm fifty-one now.) I love A.C. Crispin's TREK books. Her HAN SOLO TRILOGY for STAR WARS is also good, even if the first book starts out a bit slower than her TREK novels. I noticed the cover image error when I re-read YESTERDAY'S SON a couple of weeks ago, and enjoyed it immensely. I want to read the YEAR FIVE series as soon as I read the English version of YEAR FOUR. I read the Italian edition of YEAR FOUR a few years ago. I'm currently reading TNG's BEFORE DISHONOR by Peter David, and I plan to read TIME FOR YESTERDAY after I read TOS's DEEP DOMAIN by Howard Weinstein. According the the Historian's note in TIME FOR YESTERDAY, it takes place right after DEEP DOMAIN. I've got a bunch of other TREK books from various series I want to read along with reading ALIENS, PREDATOR and ALIENS VERSUS PREDATOR comics and graphic novels for research for an article that should be published next year. Sorry for rambling. I could talk about sci-fi and comics forever, much to my poor wife's chagrin. That’s great! You remind me that I think I have a copy of Deep Domain on my shelves somewhere. I may need to give it a go this summer.

Love this - I read Yesterday's Son too and I'm hoping to read the sequel too. I really liked it. Great review with a lot of detail Vin.

Book trek has been fun and great to revisit some old friends from the original series. I am about to start Log 4 of the Alan Dean Foster series, stories adapted from the scripts for the animated series. I watched 3 movies from the original Star Trek and 2 from TNG. I also read Probe, enjoyed as added to the movie. Enjoyed hearing your summary of books you are reading 👍

I’m considering getting to Probe by the end of the summer.

I've always been intrigued by time travel stories; and the third season episode: "All Our Yesterdays" was one of my favourite Star Trek TOS episodes - A C Crispin's two books based on that episode, and Margaret Wander Bonanno's: "Strangers from the Sky" were among the first of the original novels that really resonated with me. It's a shame that second season episode/backdoor pilot: "Assignment: Earth" featuring Gary Seven and Roberta Lincoln was never picked up by the studio...it had great potential. As for my own Book Trek reading for July; I'm thinking of delving into the Mirror Universe/Myriad Universe anthologies. 😏

I read Dark Mirror quite a few years ago and I remember enjoying it overall.

@@revenantreads Yes, I think that one was the first Diane Duane book that I read and was suitably impressed with it. With the exception of the TOS books I've mentioned, and the film novelisations; for many years I only read the TNG original novels. I've steadily bought up secondhand copies of the TOS era books, and gradually reading my way through them. It's making for an interesting journey. 😏
