I also was hoping Caledonian Road on the list. It sounds like a moder Dickens book and I know I'd love that! Im also bummed that Praiseworthy didnt make it. I bought a copy and will be setting ut aside till after booker season. Pumped to read My Friends, Wild Houses, Enlightenment and The Safekeep. I wish Inhad time to read the full longlist and make a couple of videos. Its such good fun. Happy to be able to pop in the comments of the folks whonare still making them :) Happy Booker season! I hope you get time to read at least a few of the books. I’m cautiously optimistic about the books, but time will tell. Praiseworthy was one I was also surprised not to see because a lot of people had it on their predictions list. It’s so big though I’m OK with it not making the list. The eye rolling statement made me laugh. Because yeah, I feel that hard about a couple.
I'm one of the teensy minority who didn't think JAMES was great although I suspect it will win. My vote is for MY FRIENDS. I DNF 4 and am waiting for several.more from the library.
I’m with you on the vote for My Friends 💯. I haven’t been able to read James yet, but I cannot imagine it will be as good. I’m willing to be wrong, but it isn’t a book I’m super excited to get to.
I can get most of the list from the library too, but I doubt I'll get them all before the winner is announced. So I guess I'll read them in the order that they come in and when the short list is announced I'll probably skip anything that I haven't read yet that didn't make it. With the exception of My Friends. I'm reading that no matter what. I have already read Orbital and James. I am least interested in Held and This Strange Eventful History, so I hope they aren't shortlisted 😅 I have both There There and Wandering Stars, but haven't read them yet 😣Poorly planned by me 😂
Libraries are the best! I’m doing the same thing, there are a couple I, not sure I’ll be getting anytime soon but will read what I can when I can. Good luck with your reading! Hopefully a few of them are spectacular.
