Outstanding! You are so clear and concise and easy to follow Mel. You have made a fan with this guy. When I think of how I wasted money and time in the past. Never again! Thank you!
i find it hard to believe that you guys - you tubers - read and answer comments; however, here I go! After watching your videos over and over and over again, i was able to find a flight from LAX to Panama city for 15,000 miles with flying blue that took me to Copa - capital one does not have copa, so do I transfer to flying blue??? Please and thank you! You are definitely the best and most clear!!!
Haha I am very happy to answer your comment 😃 If the flight is on the Air France website for 15,000 miles (you're looking at it on Air France site and not the Copa site), then yes, you transfer the points to Air France. They sell seats on their partner airlines' planes too so that's why you are able to buy it there. You can call Air France and they will hold the flight for you while you transfer points, so maybe you should do that so the availability doesn't disappear. Then you transfer the points, wait for them to appear, and then call back to purchase. Hope this helps! :)
Yes, they definitely should be able to transfer there. Create a Flying Blue account and make sure your name is the same for both the Flying Blue account and your AMEX account, and you should be all set to go once you've found a flight and are ready to transfer 😃
Amazing video and I appreciate the help. $200 on taxes and fees seems pretty high, Is that normal across the board? Or is it specific to the example in this video?
Thank you! Glad you found it helpful. Unfortunately, the high taxes and fees are pretty standard for Flying Blue, and European carriers in general. And it's always worse for Business Class than for Economy, as expected.
Glad to have you here! Which part isn’t working? If you’re talking about the calendar, I heard that has recently been acting up and you should instead enter the last available date on the calendar. This should bring up the monthly calendar view as before! :)
When booking for 2 people using points, does each person need to have the necessary points in their Flying Blue account or can person have all the points to use for the tickets? After watching your video, it sounds calling Air France to hold the seats and then calling them back once the Flying Blue points are transferred over.
One person can book for two people with their points. That's no problem at all. Also, yes Air France is great about holding your reservation while you transfer points. Hope this helps! 😁
You can technically book Delta domestic flights, but to be honest, there's very limited award availability for these flights, so it's not terribly useful.
I just tried to view award points by calendar view by leaving the dates blank but it's then nothing shows up as in the calendar doesn't display anything. The website has no problem showing all the flights when I switch to booking with cash. Any tricks to this?
Hmmm without seeing exactly what you’re doing, it’s hard for me to tell. I don’t think you need points in your account to search for award availability, but I can’t test that because I have points in my account at the moment. You could try clearing your cache and cookies to see if that helps. Or try a different browser? I’m sorry I can’t give you a more specific answer. I just checked to see if I could still search for award seats, and I can, so at least the website is still working. I would suggest trying the 2 steps above. You could also call to check on availability, but I know that’s never fun 😅
You have to have points but you could confirm by calling Flying Blue. I found the reward levels too high for a casual flyer. Luck was better just casually checking flights over time until there was a huge price drop when world events lowered the price.
