In this video, I discuss books for the blind--specifically, Ryan Knighton's Cockeyed and Nicole Kear's Now I See You. Both authors possess the same condition I have--retinitis pigmentosa; and both authors do an excellent job at narrating their life experiences with retinitis pigmentosa.
I chose to discuss these books because during the earlier stages of my diagnosis, I felt alone and that nobody could truly understand my experience being diagnoses with retinitis pigmentosa. With these books, I found comfort in reading about he real-life, genuine experiences of people with RP. It was the first time I felt a sense of a relief in and an idea that I could tackle this hurdle and have a fulfilling life, despite having retinitis pigmentosa.

Hey Josh I just stumbled across this video looking for Videos about Now I See You. Now I See You and Cockeyed were the first two blind biography books that I read. I'm glad they helped you adjusting to visual impairment. They're both really awesome! I have since read a few blind biography books and have some recommendations for you. Touch the Top of the World by Erik weihenmayer Beyond the Bear by Dan Bigley I have a few more if you want more. Thanks for an awesome video! Cory

Hey dude, I am about to embark on my first youtube video....I have RP Type 2, profoundly deaf and down to 8 degrees of sight. Feel your pain on all the questions you had and how sighted and fully blind people don't understand. It's a daily battle to keep going everyday. You should write that book!

EnVision Vlog I thought I’d reach out to you, the blind community is small. There were many things you said I could totally relate to. I think I held back for so long because I didn’t feel I had a role model....Molly Burke has raised the bar. I started using the cane six months ago, that was very hard at first, full of shame and embarrassment, but it’s got easier now and I’m really embracing it.🙏 What was it like doing your first RU-vid vid??

Ian Treherne oh Molly Burke! She is awesome! It was tough at first because it is one of those things where you literally putting yourself out there for the world when not everyone knows. I have had to hide my vision before out of fear of judgment, discrimination, etc, so putting it out here in a video was a huge leap of faith!
