I never knew there was a hype. I just stumbled on the books and decided to pick one up. Did not regret it in the slightest. But the two movies? (Unless there's more I don't know about) they're okay, just so far flung than what's in the books.
lol I had to read the 1st book for school I read it in 10 days then I read all of them and like now I looooooooove uncle Ricks books IT GOT ME OUT OF MY SLUMP
I loved the hunger games but Harry Potter was a complete miss :( Honestly kinda disappointed. And its not because i disliked books with the genre of fantasy.
Agnete Lundvald Fisker SAAAAME, i only read them a couple of years ago (when i was in the 10th grade ahaha), but i fell in love instantly and i'm now on my 5th read 👀
Books i’ve read because of the hype and actually enjoyed: Everything Everything To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Six of Crows (and now i’m obsessed, help) The Darkest Minds and more that i can’t remember
Oh yes! I bought the six of crows duology unintentional around the time the S&B show was announced and saw the permanent sticker about it, but six of crows is as blown up as I’ve gotten so far haha
I was the same way. Everyone kept saying I had to listen to it so I just kept pushing away from it. But when I finally made the decision to listen I loved it. Especially King George's songs.
Funny I'm in the middle of "City of Glass".. It actually took me a few attempts to get through "City of Bones" too! But once I got to the middle - it sucked me in!
HAMILTON HYPE IS STILL A THING OKAY?!?! I discovered it like 3 months ago and I haven't been able to listen anything else since Also 6:17 Jesse: "which must be nice" Me: "....to get Washington on your side..."
The only reason I read Cruel Prince was because someone i trusted was like, "Yeah, Jude is a badass". This was the book that made me realize enemies/rivals to lovers was my jam...
Yeah me too! I really enjoyed both The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King! And honestly can't wait for The Queen Of Nothing! Like, I NEED to know what happens!!!
i actually love reading hyped books bc (in the case that i enjoy it) i’m subject to a lot more opinions and a bigger fan base, which means more fanart and content to enjoy yknow
I love getting into hyped books, especially since I don’t live in the UK or the US, so for me hype on BookTube and bookstagram has a lot of influence on which not-Danish books I even hear about. That being said, I’ve had The Fault in Our Stars sitting om my shelf since 2014 and still haven’t read it. Yet.
OMG... In my head I have been calling it the immortal instruments too... but in my defense I didn't even get into reading until about two years ago so ya... everyone is judging me right now... 😢😭
Jesse, Hamilton is incredible -PLEASE DON'T RUN!- and I am reasonably sure you WILL love it if you listen to it. The community and references alone are worth giving it a listen.
You dont have to be obsessed with Hamilton or even like it, you just have to try it and discover the GENIUS behind it Its literally been years and I am still mindblown lin manuel miranda wrote something that good in 7 years😱😱
Well, I live in Russia and it's the best way to escape the hype vortex😂 it takes a couple of years to translate a book (sometimes a couple of decades) and bring it to the Russian audience. And if you order it from Amazon in origin you sometimes have to pay up to 50$ shipping. Hachiko mod on actually😂. Constantly.
Liz’s Library The Stormlight Archive is very good... it was an amazing read for me. I always thought I knew what was going to happen and then... let's just say book 1 is amazing, book 2 is more amazing and book 3 is even more amazing! I love them. If you want to have a short taste of Sanderson's writings, start with The Emperor's Soul novella. It's short and very good.
Ksupppa Fresh I love big books too. I can't wait for book 4, hopefully it will be looooong, so the journey won't end early...I want it to never end! :x
@@joyestel You know it will be great. All the character development in just 3 books... It won't be finished till like 2035 I heard. 10 epic long books.
I easily escaped several hyped books... I ignore it... I have read books before they became super popular like school for good and evil. Otherwise the only book series I got into because of hype is the manga series promised Neverland. Also if you love manga, especially horror manga with lots of mystery and secrets I suggest reading promised Neverland.
I fell into the Brandon Sanderson hype and sure am glad I did-- He's now my favorite author! TMI is one series I've been avoiding forever because of all the hype, and I'm still not sure if I'll ever read it XD I remember enjoying Divergent when it first came out, but yeah the series as a whole wasn't the best :P I decided to read The Martian after watching the movie, and it was so good!
I appreciate you so much for not spoiling any of the books you review! I watch your videos and I haven’t been disappointed yet! Thank you for giving me great recommendations! ❤️❤️
When I read We Were Liars the first time, I ended up on my floor in my bedroom crying. My mom was really concerned and I tried to explain it to her but she was super confused
I read the Geekerella series because of YOU Jesse, I am halfway through the second book and am absolutely LOVING IT!!!! They're both so great thank you!
I honestly think giving into hype is one of the best ways to understand people!! If everyone is reading it and talking about it, there must be something to say! There is no shame in hype, it’s how we can relate to eachother over shared interests or even differing opinions.
“How to make friends with the dark” You’re the one who told em to read. I just finished reading it and have to say it IS very sad and I loved it,but the ending was just eh.. we never found out what happened to cake and if she found out about tiger.
Maybe in your next video you could talk about books that you don't hear about pretty much ever (like the Michael Vey series by Richard Paul Evans or the Amulet graphic novel series by Kazu Kibuishi)
i couldnt figure out why i knew the name Holly Black.. But she wrote one of my favorite childhood series!!! The Spiderwick Chronicles are wonderful, i could probably devour both of those series in a day. I love those
Please, don't avoid it. It will turn your world upside down, and I swear, even if it's not the best thing for you, it will make you satisfied. Just you wait.
@@chicorish_ But we gotta tell these people to RISE UP! Rise up their standards and don't just wait for it, and I feel like puns are gonna help them get exposed to the show somehow.
If i ever pick up Miss pergrines (which im so close to!) Thats because of you Jesse! My tbr is overflowing and my Bank account is overflowing with empty space!☺️
DaIsY jOnEs AnD eVeLyN hUgO!!! I was interested in both of them but did NOT see the masterpiece coming throughout Evelyn. I’m reading daisy now and I’m excited
Jessie: (talking about the shadow hunters chronicles) there are some Jems I this series. Me: *starts laughing at his choice of words knowing he said it on purpose*
I hate divergent for the hype it gets and the comparison of it with The Hunger Games!!! (Hunger Games is my LIFE, and I hated divergent- or maybe I just disliked it because I had high expectations due its comparison with Hunger Games ) I liked the story initially, but the rest of the trilogy was kind of lame for me.....Cuz I really didn't like Tris and Tobias, the side characters were better than the main characters
