Both Ninth House and Hell Bent are 5 stars reads and I will NOT be hearing otherwise!! Leigh needs to focus on her adult novels because I cannot NOT wait 3 years for Alex Stern 3
Missed you so much. I know you are going into a RU-vid slump but you are missed and loved always. You give me joy in my day and show me books I wouldn’t know of on my own.
I liked Ninth House but felt it was too many threads, but I thought Hell Bent was a big improvement. Or maybe I just finally got a handle on all the stories. I was surprised at how many times I've heard that Hell Bent was a disappointment. I loved it.
Glad to catch up and see what you've been reading lately. I think later this month I am gonna dive into Ninth House. I have put it off for far too long.
Hell Bent was def a 5 star for me. Ninth House still is not, but HB was definitely one of the best reads of 2023 for me, I would say this early on even.
Personally, I didn't enjoy House of Leaves at all. It thought it was a lot more clever than it actually was and spent a loooot of pages saying absolutely nothing, just pure filler to make it seem more complex than it was. The actual "meat" of the story was good but ultimately lost in all that. Try Craig DiLouie's "Episode Thirteen", it deals with a similar subject way better imo.
