Intervals was nominated for the Women’s Prize for Non-fiction (longlisted), as far as I know. I started this one in April, and oh boy… stuck in the middle, cause I have a terminally ill mother, and can’t proceed with reading on the assisted death topic. Tbh I thought I could make it in a breeze 😅 Maybe, I will force myself to finish it by the end of the year, it’s worth it.
Oh perhaps that was the prize o was thinking of. I can imagine that is a particularly intense reading experience. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t finish it, I’ve left many books on chronic iilness half finished because they just hurt a little too much. They’ll always be there for when we are ready. X
Such a good list! Just wanted to note that Dear Dickhead by Virginie Despentes is not the first novel of hers translated. She has an entire series called Vernon Subtext and multiple other novels i believe. My (French) professor for feminist film studies is a huge fan of hers and recommended me many of her works. Despentes is rather well known here in Germany because her works are translated to German much faster it seems
Interesting selection! If you have a chance to I'd recommend investing in a good mic for your videos, it would make the watching/listening experience more enjoyable :)
@@hannahmay11 girlll i dont want it to come off as critical, just some feedback to make the audio better :) there was a bit of background noise and the audio was not very clear on this one
Books waiting to be read in psychical form/ kindle and audio Intermezzo Creation Lake The Inheritance by Cauvery Madhavan ☘️ Shy Creatures by Clare Chambers Playground by Richard Powers And that is just the tip of the iceberg. I’ve been trying to finish Wellness for months.
Wellness was definitely an undertaking for me, reading it in the winter with not much else to do probably helped 😁 report back on creation lake if you do get to it, I’m still on the fence on whether to get it!
*loved* INTERMEZZO, and really enjoyed FRIENDSHIP FIRST (it was called JUST FRIENDS here). added DEAR DICKHEAD, STATES OF EMERGENCY and OUR LONDON LIVES to the years-long storygraph tbr
I received a book in the mail last week and couldn’t work out who had sent it. Contacted friends and relatives. Later in the day I went through my orders online. I’d placed the order in July and completely forgot about it. Definitely a sign my brain is mush.
