Agreed, I personally like to play vst's and samples as realistic as possible. Especially in boom bap. We used to sample drum breaks from real drummers so if you want a more authentic sound, play it like a real drummer. There's no real rules in music, but that's definitely my preference. Great tip with attention for details.
Love how you left in the parts that you ended up changing up. Like trying out RC 20 and leaving it off, changing mind and certain samples etc. It's a very real part of music production that I think is important for these tutorials. Some people come to these cause they don't think they're good enough, because of reasons that are just a normal part of music production. Most tutorials breeze through like it's that easy to just go "yea I'll just use this sample and that sample" and sounds good. So good shit on keeping a very real part of the process in.
