this reminded me of my relationship with my mother my mom has made me cry 2 times this last month and I'm 28 like really made me cry uncontrollably !! my mom screams at me and talks down to me all the time i end up looking like boomer in tears not able to react and confused why she keeps doing this to me.. this was a powerful scene
Aria Membreno, no matter how old a person of abuse gets, they never stop feeling like that small helpless child in the presence of an abusive parent. It's called Stockholm Syndrome where the victim of abuse identifies, attaches and bonds with the abuser and still has love for them. I grew up the same way with a dad who psychologically abused me and made me feel insecure and inadequate. I'm 50 years old and to this day, I still secretly feel like that same small helpless child every time I'm around him. I have to remind myself that I'm more than enough and that I am worthy before I go around him. I've finally stood up to him in my later years, but it does take courage. Getting away from him years ago, has helped heal me. Surround yourself with positive people who will lift you up and not tear you down.
