So cool! As fun as it is goofing around with beaters, I really appreciate learning from guys who really know their stuff. Thats some serious performance gains with simple tuning. But without experts like Tad, it would likely never be realized. Nice setup Zac, well done!

The LS engine is such an impressive bit of KISS engineering. Gm took what they know works from years of tweaking their small blocks and designed the LS to breath well to produce efficient power with bulletproof old school pushrod tech that just works. I'm kinda tired of seeing one under every hood but it's hard to argue why any other V8/V6 is a superior choice.

I really appreciate episodes with real car guys that actually know their shit. That's the kind of shop I'd love to work in. Machine shop to dyno. A place where you can build something from scratch and have the equipment to back up that work by checking the numbers, no bullshit. Like everyone's comments about zack's mustache, because that's what's important here... Tad knows his shit, 545hp on a streetcar daily driver on California gas, that's impressive af!!

So it ends up being 18% drivetrain loss if we assume that this tuneup got it back to the 669 it made before. That's because (in my opinion, and from a short conversation with Gale Banks) driveline loss is expressed in a percentage, because it's a measurement of how efficient a system is. However that math does not work backwards. Essentially a drivetrain takes a straight horsepower amount to spin, beyond that it's just gravy. That's why lower power cars express disastrous drivetrain losses and higher power cars express lower. Dyno a 1000hp engine and then chassis dyno it through a turbo 400, it'll seem efficient compared to a 300hp small block through that trans.
