I thought I was going crazy, but I was getting some clipping at the mic (before getting to the receiver). I watched some other videos, and people were having a similar issue. I figured it was user error, but it seems like the auto-gain on the transmitters is a bit unreliable. I'm interested to see if this can be patched with firmware.

Can you use any lav mic? Or the ones that come with it since it has that locking pin thing on the top

Great question. I should have tried that. Just tested it with the lav from the Deity, and it was not recognizing it. That said the Deity one has a locking thread on it, and it didn’t feel like it sat in all the way. Maybe another lav might work, but I don’t have other ones to test out, sorry.

Hi, I have a macbook air with only thunderbolt and 3.5mm slot. Is there any reason why I can't choose the device (Comica boomXD) in sound "input" ? It doesn't seem to work on my computer in zoom. Can anyone help please ? Thanks!

How is the sound quality from the lav?

Excellent review. One question: when you compare the audio quality recorded by the receiver into the camera, how does it compare to the quality of the safety tracks recorded within the transmitters? Is there any difference in quality?

Great question. From what I can tell it’s virtually identical. Then levels might be a bit different because of your cameras gain setting. But they sound comparable!

I should add, I was switching interchangeably between the two in many of the outdoor shots at the park. Some was camera sound and some was internal recording.

Hello Sir, Thanks for the helpful info. Do you know whether you could charge the receiver via USB while it is in use. It would be helpful for longer use for not to loose power. Do you mind give it a try in your system and let us know if that works? Does anyone else here could give info on that aspect? Thank you in advance.

I'm really interested in this system. However, I'd like to connect the receiver directly to my PC using a USB data cable. Have you tried that by chance? I reached out to Comica support and they confirmed that it can record directly into a PC using a USB cable. But I can't find any reviews where they test that function.

@@randyrektor so I was able to confirm this first hand. The BoomX-D Pro can record directly into a computer using the included 3 way USB-C to single USB-A cable. I had no issues using it this way right out of the box. I just wanted to report back in case anyone else asks about it.

Thanks for this. It did help me to determine to purchase this mic system. Have you done a camera review of the new Panasonic LUMIX s5ii and kit lens? I'm interested in that from you if you do that kind of stuff. Cheers.

@@randyrektor People are saying external recording on the s5ii basic can record externally through the HDMi out. You might want to check on that. It may be Panasonic throwing out a lie to get others to wait for the X for marketing reasons. Marketing ploy.

I formatted it to free up memory, now it's not recording in the internal memory anymore, WHAT TO DO?

Just make sure the format you've created is the right file-type. I believe it requires a Fat-32 format if I remember correctly, but I may be wrong. Hope this helps

Thank you so much for your review!! 2.4G will be indeed not stable as UHF tech. But I believe the onboard recording can make up perfectly! As to the clipping sound, I didn't find it out in your video. Could you please tell me more details via email? I will report it to our tech department and handle this issue as soon as possible ;)

Not as good as a shot gun microphone? Really? I can bet my life on these microphones. Nothing comes close, besides, how many seconds does it take to add a little oomph to the sound 🤷🏾‍♀
