This boondocking camping spot was on The Wall (AKA Nomad View Dispersed Camping). It was incredible to see wildlife up close but I did get nervous when they were blocking me from getting back to my camper, the Little Guy Max.
If you plan to travel or take a road trip to South Dakota camping in the Badlands National Park this place has abundant wildlife and gorgeous landscape you have to see for yourself.

That was funny when the sheep followed you back to camp. Wildlife is typically more afraid of us that we are them but you can never be too careful!

I know!!!! 😁 They were so fun to see so close up and watch them climb around on the steep Badlands. I did feel better though once I was able to get back to my camper!

INCREDIBLE SPOT! We camped in the badlands in Alberta, Canada and had the same reaction. So different and beautiful. I hope no one was in the chair when it went down the hill! lol! What a treat to have sheep right out your door!

This is one part of South Dakota that I didn’t get to when we were out that way we’ll have to make a plan to do a little camping in that spot next time thanks from Wisconsin

I have seen other videos of this place. It is on my bucket list. How do I find it? Loved seeing the big horn sheep. Thanks for the video. Others have said that it can be quite windy there. There are urban legends that RVs have been blown off the cliff. Have you heard that?
@RandisAdventures
@RandisAdventures Год назад
I have heard that it gets windy at this camping spot too! I think I got lucky when I was there. Search Google maps for “the wall boondocking in the Badlands” to get the location. I am glad this spot is on your bucket list… it will be an experience you will always remember! 😁

Randi - does it get cold there? If so, what do you have to do different for cold weather camping in the Little Guy? (Asking for a potential newbie from the South!)
@RandisAdventures
@RandisAdventures Год назад
Hey Donna from the warm south! It gets very cold in Minnesota where I live and I love winter camping in my Little Guy Max. I did a video sharing how I do it. You can watch it here: 9 Winter RV Camping ESSENTIAL Tips ☃️ (Winter Camping in an RV 101) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3oZZKIpIEbU.html

So I don't know a whole lot about the Bighorn Sheep but I do know that they are normally not that friendly. I suspect that visitors to the area have somewhat domesticated them. It is a very bad habit that people camping have to give food to undomesticated animals. When animals receive free handouts it trains them to keep coming back to the same area and teaches them to not fear humans. While this sounds great for the short term they then rely on the campgrounds for food and when the campers are all gone they didn't move along and they tend to not relocate to their new feeding grounds in the colder months. It is the same with birds, and rodents. It is not a great idea to feed them. I'm not saying that you are doing that but a lot of folks who have not grown up camping are suddenly out in the wild and disrupting nature. That's why folks on RU-vid have to put out videos with etiquette rules. One thing people should remember is to not feed the wild animals because they will come to rely on the public handouts and not learn to forge for themselves. I'm sure we could draw a parallel in society but I won't go there. LOL... Anyway, you did a good job in not scaring them and moving slowly but watching peacefully. You got great shots of them too and you should be commended. Please spread the word to your viewers though so that newbies don't feed the wildlife. Great video as always Randi!!! Pat

That is great advice Pat! We all need to be responsible when we are camping and we encounter wildlife.
