I'm actually here because I was taking an amino acid supplement that has l-tyrosine in it and I noticed that my roots were suddenly dark again. All my hair had been gray/white for several years and I wasn't trying to reverse it, but here we are 😆 Not complaining, that's for sure. For those interested, I've been taking it about a month and I see about an eight of an inch of new darker hair growth. Of course other people's hair might not react this way, but I think a lot of people would like to know about this to give it a try at least

Hi נועם נועם, thanks for your question. L-Tyrosine I would say is to boost the darkness of hair colour, which should mean that there is more resilience against the bleaching effects of Hydrogen Peroxide, which is the main issue when we talk grey hair. The first thing to do is to start controlling excessive amounts of Hydrogen Peroxide in the body, see my video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1aT_4rQx5uI.html The doses I did to see a difference is mentioned in the video and the one about L-Tyrosine. However, at present I do more NAC than mentioned in my "How I changed my "HOW I CHANGED GREY HAIR BACK TO MY NATURAL COLOUR USING N-ACETYL-L-CYSTEINE (NAC) & GLUTATHIONE" it was done as an experiment but resulted in stronger hair ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wLqbv5ICTlU.html L-Tyrosine might increase your skin colour, as in how it tans, L-Tyrosine is usually part of any "tan quickly/strongly" product. However, sun spots/age spots are uneven colourations caused by too much sun exposure over the years and best guard against that is a sunscreen ru-vid.com/group/PLuCgQRSkzHPzeVxwSrMS0wxg4DzXQdUSw. Hey Jesper, I was wondering in what order should I take the supplements? And will this work if my grey hair is genetic?
@JesperOffersenBSc
@JesperOffersenBSc 3 года назад
Hi kevin cuhz, thanks for your question. I take L-Tyrosine in the morning with L-Cysteine both mixed into my fromage frais, the fromage frais tastes sour anyway. And I take it in water in the evening with other amino acids and vitamins. Also in the morning I take it with those supplements I take in capsules and pills. Maybe there will be some saying something about when to take what but I don't see any difference in my sleep pattern for example if I skip the dose one day or another. Something like vitamin C can be a good idea to spread over the day as it only last for about 4 hours at a time and it could be so for for example vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) as well. Spreading stuff over the day and suddenly the whole thing becomes a bother and one is more likely to skip it, so I just do morning and evening. Amino acids will naturally come mixed together in the food you eat. Unless you mean that your natural hair colour is grey then it should work saturating the colour, for grey hair that comes with age a better option is to do as in my video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1aT_4rQx5uI.html that one is about how to prevent Hydrogen Peroxide from bleaching one's hair from the inside, something that gets worse and worse as we age. Hi Karim, thanks for your question. L-Tyrosine works as colour is produced, so it boost the colour to begin with, makes it more saturated as for the dogs in the article I refer to. It takes some months time to see a difference because one's hair once produced is dead so only will you see a change as hair grows out. L-Tyrosine is for boosting colour, my video on how to keep the colour ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1aT_4rQx5uI.html will show you why Hydrogen Peroxide bleaches the colour produced more and more as we age and what to do about it. Hey Jesper. When it comes to boosting the production of melanin you mention L-Tyrosine. I've read here and there that Ashwagandha is good at boosting the production of melanin. Any feedback:idea on that ? Never tried it, have you ? In your other video you mention NAC that will be used to increase the level of Glutathione which is said to reduce the production of melanin especially for those who want lighter skin. Wouldn't it be counter-productive to supplement with L-Tyrosine and NAC ? Thanks for your time. Great videos dude.

Hi Matt Davies, thanks for your question. There are many suggestions for various herbs that will cure grey hair but usually very little scientific evidence to back it up. That does not meant that at some point there wont be but usually then it will be when a substance has been isolated from a herb and then tested, like for many of our modern medications. Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera, fam. Solanaceae) also know as poison gooseberry, is a plant in the nightshade family and those plants one should be careful with particularly if they can be used as medicine, as it indicates some strong activity. However, tomatoes and potatoes are in the same family but also deadly nightshade Atropa belladonna. Apparently has Ashwagandha been used for all sorts of ailments for thousands of years in India, so if it really works for greying hair I think it would be common knowledge and there would not be many people with grey hair in India, where the plant is widely grown and used in Ayurvedic medicine. Glutathione, well, firstly Glutathione does not lighten the skin in respect of pigmentation as such, and various procedures claiming so are more than very questionable. The point with Glutathione is that yes, it inhibits Tyrosinase which is responsible for the conversion of Tyrosine into Dopaquinone which in turn becomes pigments but, and there is a very big but, and that is, Glutathione can not enter the melanocytes in which the tyrosinase activity occurs.... www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5808366/ As always, doing as I say, show, write, do, or whatsoever is at one's own risk regardless. Hey Jesper. I was browsing all the comments and correct me if I'm wrong but I got the feeling that Taurine is indispensable to make Glutathione active thru the availability of Glutathione peroxidase and reductase brought in by Taurine. So if you take NAC you have to throw in Taurine as well, right ? Thanks for your videos. Regards, M. D
@JesperOffersenBSc
@JesperOffersenBSc 3 года назад
Hi Matt Davies, yes NAC alone dose nothing as such but is a cofactor for Glutathione Peroxidase in the breakdown of Hydrogen Peroxide, the Reductase makes Glutathione "active again" as in it returns it to it's reduced form. Taurine boosts the production of those two enzymes. I think that because I had taken Taurine for a long time prior taking NAC, NAC had a very quick effect on my grey hairs, whereas Taurine alone "just" gave me an overall saturated colour, both together took away those few greys I had. Hi Matt Davies, just stumbling upon and old reply and notice I write NAC in the first line which can be a little confusing, I meant that NAC does "nothing directly on it's own" for grey hair but it is used to make GSH, as in, it breaks down Homocysteine and the resulting Cysteine is used to make GSH that again on its own does nothing but is the substrate for Glutathione Peroxidase, the active enzyme. The point of the matter was that, yes, Taurine is important. I remember we spoke about Melanocytes as some point, so hope you have see my video on the matter. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JxFNS3h8nag.html As always, doing as I do, say, show, write, or whatsoever is at one's own risk regardless. Hi Aus Berlin, L-Tyrosine is important for hair colour but here it is mainly to deepen the colour, for grey hair as such, see some of my other videos on grey hair to get a deeper understanding of what is going on ru-vid.com/group/PLuCgQRSkzHPyeM4wiNhxAkzP1mQCdMxMS I just answered another question, and I put in here below what I said as to how to start "slowly" with the supplements as it can be a little overwhelming, and, not all might be needed for everybody. Cut and paste: "Hi x, Thanks for your letter, as such I tell in the videos how much I take, but it can be a little difficult maybe to keep track of. It is of course a little young to start going grey [the person is 21], but the issue should be the same, with oxidation. Though oxidation should not be a huge issue with your age, then the matter could be that you maybe don’t genetically produce enough of the various enzymes that are needed to deal with Hydrogen Peroxide, just as in normal variation between individuals, some are high, some low, others in between. There are some videos on how to boost Catalase and other enzymes needed in the Hydrogen Peroxide dismantling process, however, if you have not done anything yet, then I would start with NAC (I do 2-3 5ml scoops a day, usually 2, divided over the day, like morning/evening), then I would do Q10 (I do 3-4 100mg Ubiquinone daily, spread over the day (natural Factors)), then I would do Taurine (5ml spoon in the evening, not in the morning (might give bowel issues). With DL-Methionine I do 2-3 5ml spoons a day, spread over the day, usually 2 spoons. Glycine is part of Glutathione and could for some be limited, I take 2-3 5ml spoons a day, spread over the day, there are other things to consider as said in my videos, but I would start out with these and see how it goes, it will take some time to see a difference as the Glutathione builds up and it will only be for new hair growth. Obviously, you need to think about what you eat/do, like don’t smoke, don’t drink but for the rare occasion (common sense), then reduce sugar intake and so on, fast food of course being a no, no. The amounts mentioned is what I take, but as you are younger you might get away with less." As always, doing as I do, say, show, write, or whatsoever is at one’s own risk regardless. In respect of natural remedies be careful, Fo-Ti (Polygonum multiflorum Thunb. (He Shou Wu (HSW)) is the root of Polygonum multiflorum, a member of the Polygonaceae. HSW is well known for causing liver damages and is very high in estrogen-like compounds, and there does not seem to be any scientific evidence for all it's health claims. You don't want to screw up your estrogen balance, as it can make havoc in the body if not controlled by a medical professional. From the article below "Symptoms of liver damage (by HSW, inserted by me) occur mostly a month or so after taking the medicine, mainly including jaundice, fatigue, anorexia, and yellow or tawny urine. Of the 450 patients, two cases who received liver transplantation and seven who died, the remaining 441 cases recovered or had liver function improvement after discontinuing HSW products and conservative care." & "With the wide application, liver damage associated with HSW has been reported in China, Korea, Japan, Britain, Italy, Australia, and other countries [14, 15]. " www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4306360/ or "Several cases of hepatotoxicity due to PMT (Polygonum multiflorum Thunb., inserted by me) have been reported in patients from Australia, China, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands and Slovakia taking the product for hair loss, chronic prostatitis and to boost the immune system.[38,39,40,58,60,129] www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4471648/ I would stay well clear of Fo-Ti/HSW/PMT/Polygonum multiflorum. Hi Maria Papaconstantinou, thanks for your question. L-Tyrosine is reported to basically saturate the colour, that's why the dogs hair got more black. NAC is to stop the oxidation of the produced colour. The Glutathione produced from taking NAC by the released Cysteine, needs two enzymes to work and they are boosted by taking Taurine as explained in the NAC video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1aT_4rQx5uI.html which I guess you have seen. In respect of being afraid of overwhelming one's body with supplements, try and go through your supplements and check if the claims are backed by science, like search the supplements name or active ingredient and then NCBI, then you get scholarly articles on the subject, then read the abstract, particularly the last lines which sums up the findings. Be vary of supplements that are a multitude of ingredients "for good measure..." mixing such with others also containing a multitude of ingredients and you have a hard time figuring out how much you get of each. Hi Jesper. Im a 33 yr old female. I have hypothyroidism and has been taking homeopathy medicines for it. The hormones are in balance now but I have a noticeable number of grey hair, especially in the temple areas. I have thick black hair, but the grey hair comes out very weak and thin. I have read somewhere that in people with hypothyroidism, the level of Hydrogen peroxide is more. I came across your video recommending the supplements for natural glutathione production. Do you think it will benefit me? Should I apply something directly on my scalp? Also, I have seen in some RU-vid videos that catalase helps in fighting with hyd perxide production. Whats your thoughts on that? Does catalase tablets work when taken orally?
@JesperOffersenBSc
@JesperOffersenBSc 4 года назад
Hi Dhwani Sharma, thank you for your question. Often grey hairs starts at the temples, so that is quite normal. You mention hypothyroidism and though I'm not a doctor with any expertise out in thyroidism, homeopathy is not the way I would go. Usually for hypothyroidism in homeopathy one is given Thyroidinum (Dried Thyroid Gland of the Sheep), if that helps it is most likely because it contains unknown amounts of Iodine and L-Tyrosine, because it contains thyroid hormone consisting of Iodine and L-Tyrosine, in other words you don't know how much you get, as it would depend on the quality of the dried thyroid. In traditional science based medicine Levothyroxine is taken to replace the missing thyroid hormone. Having thyroid issues, one should ideally consult a doctor holding a degree in medicine, however, I understand that it might not be possible for everybody in the world to do so. L-Tyrosine, the body uses for various processes and amongst them is the production of thyroid hormone, hence it could very well be that thyroid hormone will go up taking L-Tyrosine but when one has issues with the thyroid one should go slowly and ideally have thyroid hormone levels checked regularly. If one does not eat meat, dairy, fish, eggs, and drink milk one might be low in L-Tyrosine (an amino acid). In respect of Catalase, it is correct that it dismantles hydrogen peroxide and therefore some thinks that one can take it and then it will work in the body. However, there seems to be little proof of that, if any at all. Catalase is a protein with enzymatic activity but still a protein, which consists of a long chain of amino acids. In fact is the enzyme a tetrameric enzyme consisting of four identical, tetrahedrally arranged subunits of 60 kDa, meaning that it can not pass through our intestines and into the blood stream. Instead, as with other proteins it is broken down into amino acids, as single amino acids, dipeptides, or tripeptides, larger peptides should not pass unless there are damaged parts of the lining of the intestines, which would cause all sorts of problems. For the same reason, it does not make sense to supplement with Glutathione but to have the body produce it itself as I talk about in the video below. However, Glutathione is small but will be broken down in the liver, so basically you just get the components out of it and then the liver might use them to produce Glutathione afterwards, as our liver produces Glutathione but not necessarily from those exact amino acids that comes from breaking down ingested Glutathione. It's complicated, yes. From what you describe I would do as in the hair loss video because you say the grey hairs are thinner than the rest of your hairs, so when they at some point turn grey too (it will eventually happen to most of us) they will most likely also be thinner. You can read some of the comments in that thread about how some have notice thickening hairs (to the level of what is normal/original for them) and my explanations there. Also I would do as in the hydrogen peroxide video on grey hair. @@JesperOffersenBSc What about taking MSM powder for hair thickening? Also, some people say that lipsomal glutathione is better than NAC because some people cannot break down the NAC because of leaky gut.
@JesperOffersenBSc
@JesperOffersenBSc 4 года назад
Hi Camelyonia, thanks for your questions. First, MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is simply a sulphur containing molecule, Cysteine and Taurine that I talk of are sulphur containing amino acids. Hair consist for about 18% of Cysteine and it's the sulphur parts (disulfide bonds) of that, that makes hair strong, Taurine has a protective effect on human hair follicles. Nothing seems to support the use of MSM, it's not enough just to say that hair contains sulphur, so MSM must be good, for sulphur is not incorporated into hair strands as an individually ion. However, sulphur as such is good for various things and therefore was sulphur containing spring water in the old days considered healthy but it stank to high heaven because of the sulphur content. Liposomal Glutathione is simple Glutathione disguised as a lipid (a fat molecule) and so it by-passes the liver where it would else be broken down (that's the advantages of liposomal drug deliveries). However, intravenous delivery of Glutathione used by some to lighten skin has not shown to stop hair from being attacked by hydrogen peroxide and anyway does Glutathione not stop melanin formation because it can not enter the melanocytes where the melanin production occurs. So, it seems having the body produce it's own Glutathione is the best bet. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5808366/ NAC, it might not be broken down to be used for Glutathione production, rather it seems that NAC releases Cysteine already in the body and for that to be used for Glutathion production pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17544838/ therefore NAC is important. If one has "so called" leaky gut, grey hair is of lesser concern, rather one should focus on solving the gut issues. Leaky gut is not something that is officially recognised as such www.nhs.uk/conditions/leaky-gut-syndrome/ and therefore as such I would say that the NAC theory on leaky gut is not an issue. However, if one has bowel issues, a strengthening of the lining might be helpful (the submucosa layer containing collagen), so a general strengthening of one's collagen see my videos on that subject here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VE3DOI5S1vU.html & ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-94-30D9KCk8.html As always, doing as I say, show, write, or whatsoever is at one's own risk regardless. Hi again Matt Davies, thanks for your question. As such hairs grows not that fast so it will take some months to see a difference but that is from when the supplements are starting to work and they might not make much difference until some time has past, maybe a months time just to say something in respect of, that after a month our outer layer of skin is renewed but our entire body is replaced around every 7th year. So it will take some time for the body to adjust, maybe a months time and then the visibility of it will start to show as the hair grows. So it's not just the immediate growth after first day of supplementing. Hydrogen Peroxide might not be neutralised where hair colour is produced if Hydrogen Peroxide neutralisation is more needed in other cells than in or around hair follicles, that might be why some only see some reduction in grey hairs but other more if their general health condition is better (low oxidation levels). It might also be that Glutathione works evenly throughout the entire body but if oxidation is higher than what can be dealt with by the extra production of Glutathione and the colour boost from Tyrosine, then less effect is expected but maybe more than if Glutathione primarily worked where needed the most (hair is not important for the body and therefore not prioritised). With me and my husbands health condition, lifestyle and diet, we might see better results than others but the biology behind what goes on is the same for all. Different lifestyles can mean more or less oxidative stress person to person and for some taking the supplements we talk of might not do much until general oxidative inducing lifestyle issues are dealt with. I will say that in our case results were visible after maybe 3-4 months. Not all hair for my husband has changed from grey/white to colour but then again he was blond as a child, slowly going darker as he grew up and then around his 30-ties going what you would call grey. However, what is very clear on him is that particularly the top is getting warm brown and greys are disappearing on the top but for a few, a colour he has not had even when he was younger, where it was more a dark grey colour that dominated. I know many talk about Catalase which works in the same way as Glutathione but it's not that easy to figure out how to boost the production of it in the body just yet. Taking Catalase as a supplement does not work because it's broken down in the digestive system. Maybe a liposomal version of Catalase will overcome the problem with the digestive system but still it's no guaranty it will work the same way as if produced by the body itself. However, it might very well be that Catalase is what will cure the last bit of stubborn greys that Glutathione can't deal with and therefore I'm looking into finding out a way to boost Catalase and when I know more I'm doing a video on it. I think that what you will first notice is a gradual saturation of colour after some months time for new growth. As always, doing as I do, say, show, write, or whatsoever is at one's own risk regardless. Nothing I say, show, write, do, or whatsoever is meant to cure, heal, or prevent anything regardless. Hi Matt Davies, just saw your reply (got it out of the spam filter). Yes, Catalase should be great and I will investigate it a bit further, trouble is that it's broken down in the digestive system but is produced in the peroxisomes inside our cells and it's used in the peroxisomes to break up hydrogen peroxide. So it's a matter of boosting the production rather than ingesting it though ingesting it gives the body the building blocks to produce it, those building blocks also comes from our general food. Not all likes sprouts but I do, cooked to al dente and then lots of butter. A good avocado is unfortunately very difficult to come by in the UK but I remember 2007 being a good year... Hi Masar Baghdad, thanks for your question. I totally understand your concern about taking all these supplements and surely we were not "designed" to do so. This is about compensating for what is naturally going on in our bodies and to a certain point I don't think one should take more and more. You could try and see if NAC will make a difference on its own and then if not add Taurine and active Folate. Tyrosine is more to boost the colour production, as in making it more saturated but it will most likely not take away grey hairs on its own, its more about boosting what is or screw it towards more darker tones. I will later make a video that deals more with the other elements of going grey, Catalase, Ubiquinol, and more on Tyrosinase. Check out my other answers in the comments thread. Hi Matt Davies, thanks for your question. Magnesium is important for a lot of processes in the body and supplying with it, if not having enough, might make various processes work better, so better support for hair colour in general but there seems to be little if any scientific backing for magnesium chloride directly affection hair colour as such. Low levels of magnesium can lead to build up of calcium in soft tissue and that could make difficulties in general and therefore also for hair growth, colour etc. In case one has issues with calcium and need more magnesium, vitamin K2 is worth looking into as it is needed to activate what shuffles calcium into bone, teeth, etc. and away from the soft tissue and saliva in which it causes calcified plaque build ups (tartar). However, blood supply might be different in chest tissue than on the scalp, hence what one do for hair colour might for various reason not work the same way all over the body, though it in theory should work. I take magnesium as chelated magnesium (from NOW), I'm not sure I would take magnesium chloride, I use if in my bath to loosen dead skin cells at which it is really good. L-Tyrosine is to boost colour production particularly for darker colour/saturated colour, see my video on actual greying of produced colour ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1aT_4rQx5uI.html As always, doing as I do, say, show, write, or whatsoever is at one's own risk regardless. Hi Jesper, what do you think of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD)? Is it worth taking? Thank you!
@JesperOffersenBSc
@JesperOffersenBSc 3 года назад
Hi Luigi Rossi, thanks for your question. Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) is a large protein with enzymatic activity and our gut is designed to break such proteins down, so that the amino acids it consists of can enter our bloodstream. So, SOD will be broken down and will not enter our bloodstream and therefore it gives no direct effect in our cells when supplementing with it (producers will of course have a different opinion). Studies have shown raised levels of SOD (4 fold more bioavailability after intake if coated with liposomes and caramides onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/%28SICI%291099-081X%28199603%2917%3A2%3C165%3A%3AAID-BDD945%3E3.0.CO%3B2-N), however, what sort of SOD in the bloodstream we are talking about is difficult to say because we don't know if the SOD passes through the intestinal barrier (very unlikely due to size and the fact it's broken down in the digestive system) or not but more likely is it that ingesting SOD triggers the body to produce some itself maybe. Our saliva contains SOD so maybe if the body senses SOD in the digestive system it starts producing more as it "thinks" that what is, is being used, so more is needed. The bottom line is that we don't know what happens but that SOD passes through the intestinal barrier the normal way is very unlikely. In order to find out if it does one should label the SOD ingested with a radioactive isotope (a label) and check if that is present in the SOD measured in the blood, that has not been done as far as I have seen. There is a version called GliSODin, which is Gliadin (a Lectin) combined with SOD, Gliadin being a part of the Gluten molecule (so most likely problematic for Celiac sufferers). However, Gliadin coating might ship the SOD safely through the stomach acid ordeal but then it is not broken down and therefore it is much less likely that any part of it will pass through the intestinal lining. However, Gliadin and SOD (GliSODin) works in the way that it sticks to the intestinal wall and should then be delivered into the cells on the other side as in, you have a lining, place a ball on it and push inwards, then you nip off the dent on the other side and hopefully the hole left behind closes up nicely, and then you have the GliSODin inside the cell, now coated with the lining as a sphere in the cell sap. However, Gliadin most likely triggers some inflammation being plant derived, encouraging the body to produce SOD itself maybe and that might be what we see but so far we don't know. However SOD, Catalase, and Glutathione Peroxidase is claimed to go up after ingestion of GliSODin but why Catalase and Glutathione Peroxidase when not ingested? www.glisodin.org/?page_id=14 by GliSODin.org . Maybe that is part of a response to the intruding and foreign Gliadin. Interestingly enough does it seem that studies on Gliadin itself in respect of SOD, Catalase and Glutathione Peroxiase production is lacking but not studies on Gliadin with SOD (GliSODin) and SOD alone. Studies in respect of SOD, Catalase, and Glutathione Peroxidase and Gliadin alone would be intersting. So far, until it has been proven that GliSODin really does cross the intestinal barrier I would not ingest it and I would be worried about ingesting Gliadin. Also I'm a bit worried that the science is sponsored by the producer of GliSODin, therefore I have ask about it, awaiting a response. Hi Eujanio Coutinho, thanks for commenting. Carnosine consists of Beta-Alanine and L-Histidine, with Beta-Alanine being the limiting factor when the body produces it. Phenylalanine is a derivative of Alanine and is usually converted into Tyrosine, people who can't do that has a condition called Phenylketonuria, resulting in a fishy odour and various health issues. The sweetener Aspartame contains Phenylalanine and is problematic for those people. Carnosine is important for muscle function and other actions in the body and can be boosted by Beta-Alanine. However, too much Beta-Alanine can give paraesthesia which is a tingling sensation like needles in the hands and so on, apparently when used as more than 10mg/kg body weight. Hi Arman, thanks for your question. With your age of 24% I would expect you will see some change doing as I do, which is also doing as in my video on grey hair and Hydrogen Peroxide ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1aT_4rQx5uI.html . L-Tyrosine will make your colour more saturated and works in the process of making melanin itself, which gives the colour to begin with. In the other video, we talk about N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, which is used to produce Glutathione which fights Hydrogen Peroxide bleaching our hair from the inside. The more Hydrogen Peroxide the more bleaching can occur. As we age we get less and less good at producing Glutathione and more and more Hydrogen Peroxide (from natural processes in our body) runs free, doing havoc. Both videos tells you how much to use and the importance of doing not just one of the mentioned amino acids or vitamins but what is mentioned all together. Also check my answer to Ivan Ivan, in the comments for the video about grey hair and Hydrogen Peroxide, about stress and live style and the impact on grey hair. What we talk about on this channel is the natural processes in the body, there is no remedy that will work equally for all but what I describe here will boost the body's way of not going grey. However, doing as I describe will delay going grey or help going less grey than if not doing as described. The point being that there is a limit as to how much you can compensate as you age more and more but I think you will see a good result with your age of 24, I was older when seeing my few greys disappear. Something you often hear about is Catalase an that works like Glutathione but is not at present easy to boost the body's production of, and taking it as a supplement it breaks down in the digestive system, so money down the drain. Hi Jiji, thanks for your question. There might be some saying one should take various supplements at various times, on an empty stomach or not depending on why you are taking them (usually when people use supplements for sports activities to optimise the activity of the supplement). However, I for these supplements are taking them mixed into my Fromage Frais in the morning and with Niacinamide in capsules form on the side, with my other supplements in pill or capsule form. If I specific mention when to take a supplement in a video it's usually because some can in the morning upset an empty stomach causing sudden temporary stomach issues as diarrhea. L-Arginine I would not take on the food as it tastes absolutely disgusting, like if one could taste the smell of rotten fish. I take it in a small glass of water, down with it and quickly take some more water as I hold on to the kitchen counter for support... @JesperOffersenBSc
@JesperOffersenBSc 3 года назад
Hi again ankita bhati, yes as such, however, genetics is what makes us different, therefore some people eating the same things and who does the same things will not respond equally though the type of response will be the same. One persons body will produce a certain amount of Tyrosinase and another person will produce less due to genetics but they will both respond to L-Tyrosine in the same way but one maybe more than the other, or one person might need more to see the same effect as the other. However, sometimes what is needed might be problematic in another sense, hence there will be a limit as to how much one can compensate for differences in genetic makeup. If a person for some genetic reason cannot make Tyrosinase then L-Tyrosine would not make a difference, like for someone that's an albino the TYR gene is damaged or altered and for them it would not make any change taking L-Tyrosine because they don't produce any Tyrosinase or extremely limited amounts. For grey hair due to Hydrogen Peroxide, NAC is the basic supplement to raise the level of Glutathione needed for the enzymatic reactions that dismantle Hydrogen Peroxide. Hi sharonkanipe, thanks for your question. Well, it's a rough guide but the one from Bulk Powders comes with a spoon and it's about 5 or little less of those. What you do is to take the spoon you will use and make a heap of powder, with like 40 heaped teaspoons, find out how much it weighs and divide with the number of teaspoons (40), then you know how much one spoon is. It will of course be a little rough for a measurement but unless you have a precision scale that is how you can do it. For me it's about a not too well heaped teaspoon but it stacks very well so best is to do 40 equal looking teaspoon heaps and find out how much one then is and you have a better idea what 2 grams looks like. Hi again sharonkanipe, I have always tried to live a healthy lifestyle based upon good produce (getting more and more fanatic I guess) but going grey early or later also depends on genetics (and therefore how much you shall compensate with amino acids). I've done the L-Tyrosine not for long and so far L-Tyrosine will not effect my hair colour, so as I say in the video we will check back on my husband with before and after pictures in some months time, the video is about the science behind L-Tyrosine and hair pigments. The few grey hairs I had were dealt with as explained in my video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1aT_4rQx5uI.html about internal hydrogen peroxide, the hair on the thumbnail shows how it was grey and then midway started to get back to brown from the root, when doing as described in that video. If you don't have any grey hairs at present, maybe just do as in the hydrogen peroxide video as hair colour is a visible sign of hydrogen peroxide "damage" but it occurs in the entire body anyway and that is not necessarily visible in the same way as grey hairs but it's still going on, however few grey hairs or none should indicate that the body still has hydrogen peroxide under control. Some might already have a diet high enough for them in L-Tyrosine and L-Cysteine without supplementing but if supplementing use NAC for Cysteine but NOT NALT as Tyrosine, L-Tyrosine only as explained. We started supplementing with amino acids several years ago as a must to help my husband who suffers from Myotonic dystrophy (a muscle wasting inherited condition) starting out with L-Arginine for muscle relaxation and from thereon things has progressed with other amino acids, me taking the same as him. Hi Robb Smith, thanks for asking. Cysteine is used in the body to create Glutatathione via various processes. Glutathione works so that Hydrogen Peroxide is being dismantled. Uncontrolled Hydrogen Peroxide bleaches the hair from within (and generally ages the body) so therefore Cysteine is important. N-Acetyl L-Cysteine has been found to release Cysteine bound in the body so it can be used to produce Glutathione. It seems that it is mainly the Cysteine that is released that is used to make Glutathione, rather that it being made from N-Acetyl L-Cysteine itself. L-Tyrosine on the other hand is used by the body to produce pigments in the first place. As always, doing as I say, show, write, or whatsoever is at one's own risk regardless. Hi again Robb Smith, NAC works in the way that it releases plasma bound Cysteine, that Cysteine one must assume finds its way into the follicles boosting the level of available Cysteine for the process of producing Pheomelanin. Stopping NAC supplementation and the Cysteine should return to how it was as NAC will no longer release plasma bound Cysteine (which will stay as Homocysteine). However, if one already has optimal/maximum levels of free Cysteine one should not see a difference from taking NAC for Pheomelanin production, hence no effect when stopping either, in respect of Pheomelanin production. @JesperOffersenBSc
@JesperOffersenBSc Год назад
Hi again Aus Berlin, in case you do as I have explained then you should see results by now if your hair is able to respond, but as explained in the "why your hair is grey video", then some Melanocytes can become dormant, or more likely as an article on BBC some time ago explained, then the Melanosomes inside the Melanocytes stops maturing properly, meaning loss of pigment (this is most likely due to oxidation). Why some can be helped by primarily NAC and others not, seems to be in respect of how severe the situation is with the Melanosomes. Lately I am as explained in my latest Collagen video taking a lot of Glycine, and I will make a video on my findings later, but Glycine is important for rather a lot of processes in the body and therefore might it be an extra factor to think about in relation to dealing with grey hair, oxidation, particularly because Glutathione (needed against grey hair) contains Glycine (1/3), so low levels of that can have an impact on how much Glutathione can be made, though there is plenty of Cysteine available (1/3 of Glutathione is L-Cysteine). Glycine also has another function in relation to Superoxide but that is a little more complicated. At present I experiment with 40g of Glycine, daily, divided into 4 portions. Hi again Eujanio Coutinho, thanks for your question. L-Tyrosine works in the way that is boosts the colour production of dark pigment as explained with the study on black Labrador Retrievers, so taking L-Tyrosine will saturate that colour. For me with a brown/golden colour my hair is now more dark towards a brown-red colour and my husbands hair, which was blond in childhood going dark/grey/graphite colour in adulthood, has gone brown-red, so basically a warmer hue. I believe that with your black hair colour it will go more black rather than brown-red. Boosting the darker pigments in the hair and it will be more resilient to going grey in theory, but if the problem is general greying I will suggest doing as in this video and the one on grey hair caused by Hydrogen Peroxide produced in higher and higher amounts in our bodies as we age ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1aT_4rQx5uI.html Any changes will only be for new growth as hair is dead material, and supplements might take longer for some than others to kick in. @JesperOffersenBSc 3 года назад
Hi Akshay Oraskar, thanks for your question. In respect of skin colour, Tyrosine makes the hair darker because it makes the body favour the production of Eumelanin over Pheomelanin, so maybe as you have a brown skin colour it might start to be more saturated but stopping Tyrosine and it will revert back to what was before if it happens. For the Labradors the study was done on, they did not mention if the skin also became darker. However, I don't think I will develop brown skin by taking Tyrosine, or in other words it has not happened yet and I've done it rather a while by now. Anyway, Tyrosine is used in tanning pills and that is because the sun stimulates the production of Melanin in the skin but not in the hair, which when thinking about it seems odd? A white haired person won't start to grow dark hair in the summertime but will sport a tan... Tyrosine I would say is to boost the saturation of colour but if one truly is grey it is the NAC regime one needs to do, obviously both routes will be a good combo. A sunscreen will help against excessive tanning due to Tyrosine supplementation. People seems to often only focus on NAC but the other ingredients, Taurine, active Folate, etc., are important too. Some might see results just taking NAC but we are all different and some will need the whole regime others just parts of it. The method is to keep hair coloured for longer but I don't think one can compensate forever for a degrading body as we age. However, with your age you should be able to see a positive outcome. Scalp hair and beard/eyebrow hair seems to be a little bit more difficult in responding. If it's only a few hairs in the beard, well, take a tweezer and pluck them. Also you might find that some hairs wont respond but the majority will, like, it depends usually on where they are located, as in, those that went grey latest will respond before those that did earlier, usually those that did early was at the temples. Generally, a lifestyle not resulting in excessive Hydrogen Peroxide being produced in the body is preferable when talking grey hairs and oxidation. Hi again Akshay Oraskar, Glutathione supplements are most likely broken down in the digestive system, so it's an expensive supplement with little evidence that it actually works. NAC is proven to raise the internal level of Glutathione and it's way less expensive. In respect of the word detox, you can't detox your body but rather stop doing what toxifies your body or take a supplement that deals with what will be produced in the future, as in when boosting Glutathione more will be ready for use when Glutathione Peroxidase deals with Hydrogen Peroxide produced after the boosting. What was produced of Hydrogen Peroxide in the body before the boosting of Glutathione has already done it's damage, so it's a forward acting solution, if that makes sense. Hi The Mentalist Zz, thanks for your comment. If you watch the videos you will see that there are several ways to boost hair colour, as in it's about reducing the amount of oxidation of primarily Catalase and that can be done in various ways, as you can see if you read the scholarly articles I refer to. You are free to look up the science yourself. I think the best place to start is to use NAC, then if no change add Ubiquinol and then L-Methionine (L-Methionine is something I came across after my first video but should not be used without NAC), what I described in my first video worked for me with the greys I had on my scalp and it clearly has worked for those who in the comments has mentioned so, but for some reason it does not work for all, and for some, some hairs might get darker but others next to won't and stays grey. L-Tyrosine I don't think can stand alone for grey hairs but rather it seems to be able to make coloured hair more saturated (as for the dogs in the study), as well as it makes you tan quicker, hence it is usually added to tanning supplements. I don't recall having said I swear by NAC but I find it to be important in the process of bringing back colour to hair that can still respond, various types of hairs seems to respond differently. I think that the older one gets, more different supplements to target the oxidation is needed and they should focus on helping Catalase not being destroyed by Hydrogen Peroxide, hence my videos on how to help save Catalase and how to boost the production in the first place. I think that if the amount of NAC that I talk about is not enough then one should not take more and more but rather add some of the other supplements that has a role in the process of halting oxidation, one way or another.
