Thank you Lina 😃One thing I have found to be very useful when I started learning Russian (after having learnt around two thousand words) was listening to audiobooks whenever I could, on the treadmill, while doing shopping, cooking and so on. At first I understood almost nothing but I got used to the music of the language, and more importantly I heard again and again the most common words until, after a while, I stop translating them in my head which freed my little brain to concentrate on the words I still didn't know well enough and had to translate.

I love how you punctuate your sentences in your subtitles. It makes it easier for me to learn languages. When I want to read two subtitles in any video, one in Russian and other in English, I just split screen into two. Hotkey Ctrl +Shift + 2.

I bought a Russian copy of Чехов stories, and I have found it to help my progress a lot, even if I need to spend some time looking up words.

THANK YOU LINA !!! What about journals ? When studying other languages journals were useful for me. Do you suggest journals for Russian ?
@LinasLessons
@LinasLessons 5 месяцев назад
Yes, they are also useful! Unfortunately I don’t have any recommendations as I don’t really read journals 😅 but if I find any good options, I’ll share them with you!

Hi Alina, nice video! Just had a couple of questions: How do I use the word чего? I can sort of gauge when to use it but I’m not totally sure. It seems to be popping up a lot Also I’m not to sure how to use small words like то, те and тех. Could you please explain? Thank you!
@v0r0byov
@v0r0byov 5 месяцев назад
То, те, тех mean "that". The first one is a neuter singular nominative, the second is a plural nominative, and the last is either a plural genitive or plural accusative (only if animate). I do not know if I explained well since Russian is my mother tongue
@user-xn2xx7jg8i
@user-xn2xx7jg8i 5 месяцев назад
Probably good to get advice from a native! Thx. So as I take it, то те, тех are like other forms of demonstrative prepositions (I think they’re called that) like тот, та, etc.?
@LinasLessons
@LinasLessons 5 месяцев назад
Yes, exactly! These are demonstrative pronouns 😊 and the answer you were given is correct! Чего is a genitive form of что. So anytime you’ll need to start your question with genitive, you’ll use it: Чего ты боишься? Чего тебе не хватает? Also in colloquial speech it can be used as why: Чего ты на меня так смотришь? (=Почему ты на меня так смотришь?)
