Boosting the Batteries with the 1945 Chevy Truck to Crank the UD 16 IH Motor for Oil Pressure July 3

it was hot in the morning and humid which meant thunder storms would be arriving plus the staff still had a toothache too.it was a shop day figuring out the UD-16 fuel injection pump to see if it could be cleaned up to make it work again. by the end of the day the injection pump was back on the motor from the Adams 550 motor grader named Gomez. with the injection pump on, the big test was to crank the motor over to get oil pressure to lube it up before we even try to start it. the motor has sat way too long so the more times we crank it over, the motor oil is lubing it up. of course the batteries were not charged up enough but a quick boost from the 1945 chevy saved the day. thansk

Joey, Thank you for posting the videos on working on your vintage machines. Life was a lot more simple when these were in use many years ago. So sorry to hear about Xena and her pain from wisdom teeth. I had to have mine removed when I was about 20 years old, now 67 years old. If her wisdom teeth keep giving her trouble you may have to talk into having them removed. She is your main staff for the Kingdom and your daughter, I know she takes good care of you, washing clothes, grocery shopping, bringing you mail, helping with videos and any other job relating to the Kingdom. Very interesting Joey thanks a lot. You should probably be called Mr. Barnes the shop teacher. I particularly enjoy your teaching style and sense of humor. You have a large level of knowledge thats been accumulated over many years, It’s obvious it’s your old gummer like me. 😊. Good morning from Cape Cod ⛵ this particular video really impressed me with your skills Joey. Everything torn down and cleaned up and lubricated, the way you explain everything in detail I'm pretty sure at this point I wouldn't be intimidated to dig into this type of project. That engine cranked over nicely, I didn't hear any internal noises 👍 and yes you got good oil pressure. I feel for you Xena. Tooth pain sucks. Thanks for taking the time to do it right. The "will it start" comment is so true. As a viewer I'm wanting it to start, but it sure would be a shame to wreck it. Take as many episodes as it takes, I'm pretty sure most of us are here for the long haul.

Ahh yes, wisdom teeth. Mine had to come out suddenly near the end of the school year when I was in grade 9. Procedure ended up being a success, but there was a minor complication in the middle. Apparently, I began coming out of the general anesthetic, they had to stop what they were doing and re-anesthetize me. Scrawny little kid that I was then, my flailing arms bopped one of the assistants square in the nose. I remember little of it, but felt terrible when I was told about it later on. Mine had to come out because some of them were coming in where they were not supposed to be, and causing trouble with existing molars. Got to miss 2 days of school, which was great, but then had to go back, still swollen up like a chipmunk, because June exams were beginning. The teasing wasn't the worst thing I've endured, the pain of the swelling and dealing with meds and stuff was worse. But it's one of those things a lot of people have to endure. Hope it goes well for Xena.

King 🤴, thanks for another awesome video 📹. I've rebuilt a number of injwctor pumps in my 61 years on this planet. Most of them were cummins or Detroit, but never a Cat. I only had 2 trucks with 425 Cats. I sold them before they had major issues. Talk to you later .

You were cranking the diesel side of the engine, high compresh. Wabbout popping out the plugs and spinning over as for a gas start.? Less wear and tear. just saying, How much oil pressure did you get? Xena, I gargled with warm salt water to kill the germs to knock down the infection 😎

i had the de-compression lever engaged to make it easier to spin over to get oil pressure. not really sure how much oil pressure there was because hard to read through the plastic thansk

Mister Barnes, do you need a battery charger device? I mean one that you could hook to the batteries either on the bench or in the battery tray, plug in an extension cord and boost or charge batteries.

not really, buying good quality batteries means i never have to charge or boost. we had a bad bunch from 2018-2022 whish we slowly have gotten rid of. thansk

That young lady needs some antibiotics to pull the swelling infection down. That or a trip to the savage teeth puller. We call the cack of the digital caliper a depth gauge, although I haven't advanced past a dial model. Closest I have is one micrometer with digital readout that doesn't get used. I grab old style ones from my machinist box.

It seems strange a place that history started in the '50's. Where I come from the first settlers came in the 1860's. They all left so the old timers families mostly came in the 1890's. Did you're bunkhouses come up from Sheridan on the Cat Trains?

yes they went mining in the early 50s and moved the town of sherridon to WHO-ville(lynn lake) by cat trains. the age of the town is very young by the small size of the grave yard. the bunk houses were along the tracks for the jigger crews to stay in over night. then as they were not needed, 2 of them ended up in the yard when i bought the place. thansk
