Classic Nut These clones aren't "cheap" to begin with, they cost the same as retail on average. This one was $76 and another was $84. Maybe he didn't like "scalpers" ruining the market?
DaGameNerd bro it's way past the point of blaming scalpers. It's a discounted collectors item now. High prices are justified. And $76-$84 is NOT anywhere near the original which runs $200-$300. Also I'm sick of people ripping on so called "scalpers". Free market man. They can charge what they want. You don't like it don't buy it. Obviously it sells for that price so to bad if it's not what you want to pay. He saw the low price and thought wow I can get it cheaper.. and got hosed. Lesson learned.
I have this same knock off. It's largest issue is the slowdown on the main menu, and the fact that the controllers often feel non-responsive. You'll try to dodge in punch out, for example, and there's a second delay, throwing off your timing.
Lithellama I like the ratio in 16:9 xD I've got an AVS and original NES as well as many other consoles I review that all either play in 4:3 or 16:9 but give me the choice personally and if it looks fine I'll choose 16:9
DRAKONOLUS Again, I own an AVS and real NES console. As far as my games go I own about 200 NES carts alone and about 100 (maybe more) separate Famicom games. This console was just one I wanted to review.
+Paul Verdorst I find the 16:9 to give a bloated appearance. I used to play games in 16:9 via emulation, but I eventually began to dislike that. Especially for Final Fantasy series. The characters just look fat and bloated.
There are new knockoffs out there that look and play exactly like the real NES Classic (US version), even the box and menu is the same. You can find them on eBay, just search "NES Classic best replica". They're about $80-$90. Crazy..
So here’s the thing, I was on amazon and it showed this same exact one as a picture of the fake NES and I bought it because it said “Amazon’s choice” and when I got it, it was the real NES classic, not a fake one. I was confused why it had a fake NES classic as the picture
Guangsi Han Yes, it was actually made after I made the video. I might end up reviewing that console but don't know for sure yet. Gonna do my review on the Hamy Sega Genesis HD clone first.
pizzamon 79 Not necessarily terrible but because it's the PAL version rom and I'm playing here in the U.S. the sound of PAL games will always be faster than we're used to.
pizzamon 79 No, over there the sound is slower for them, basically normal speed. But playing a PAL region game here results with the music being fast because of the differences.
That megaman 2 is ntsc, nintendo of america on boot. The emulation messes up the sound, it's missing like 1 or 2 channels. If it was a pal version the music should be playing or very slow 50fps or way to fast 60fps if running it at 60fps in the emulation.
@@DaGameNerd maybe there's a way to install another emulator on the clone system? Could help with the sound issue. Great video tho, i was looking at my nes mini for all the details 😅 gladly got an original
@@Nintality Thanks, yea I tried hacking it but no luck xD this thing was not worth the $60 and I still get comments saying it's the official PAL version (it isn't) but hey if it is I'll gladly sell it for $60 :P
@@DaGameNerd 😊 i'm glad to say the one i have here is an original nes mini. Bought it for more then it was sold in stores. I was pretty happy that the snes mini was way easier to get in stores, the nes was sold everywhere.
2:00 min. Wich one is real/fake ?? I think the one down is fake because "entertainment system" is not in a straight line, it goes a little bit up at the end....
Apparently mine was a fake... Then again, I don't live in the states, so they tried to get anything they could get. -And this explains why hakchi didn't work for me. Then again, I like keeping it original.- Hakchi does work, but downloading too many games bugs out the console. EDIT: Also, the Megaman 2 audio sounds like the original, doesn't sound like the one at 3:45 . Maybe it is random? Maybe I got the original? IDK
Yeah, I think mine might be a fake. But it works with the Wii Classic controls and it runs every game. Just Kirby, it crashes sometimes. But it does Select+Start as a save state instead of reset which I have no problem with. Might try that Hakchi thing when I can.
Dallas Dal They also have a difference in sound when being used in regions not meant for their proper speed, here's how TMNT would sound like in PAL territory but if played in NTSC territory it gets sped up. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IeqMQZR3hxs.html The same applies for official cartridges, I own PAL games that run faster than intended on my consoles unless I set my AVS to PAL mode.
PAL games that were not optimised for the 50Hz signal will run slower and have slower music, ones that were optimised will run at the same or close enough speed to the NTSC version on PAL systems. SMB 2 was optimised for PAL so when you play it in NTSC mode it will be running at NTSC speed with the PAL speedup on top of it.
+Alexander Villmann No trust me it's a clone, if you watch the full video you'll see it's differences including the different board and menu. Plus it has issues in certain games and the music also lags on the menu along with it sounding like it was recorded from a phone...
+Rippys Lab It's an EU clone, the OS is different along with it having different roms not matching the official EU release. An example is this console has Ninja Gaiden and not Shadow Warriors. Another example is that that it uses a different PCB board than the original, on top of that (there's still other issues) but it also has NTSC roms even though it's a PAL clone.
@@DaGameNerd I know this is an old video, but I wanted to corrected you that the European NES Classic Mini does come with the Ninja Gaiden. It does not use it's PAL version Shadow Warriors. Same goes for other games, like having Super C rather than it's European version - Probotector II. I got mine from the official UK Nintendo store, just to assure you that I didn't get bamboozled.
Has anybody been able to decipher what the processor on this thing is? Having a cheap, hand-solderable (and yes, this is easy enough, compared to... things) SoC with HDMI output would be just so useful for projects! Unfortunately the photo is blurry, but what i can see... at the bottom, looks like a flash IC, parallel NOR flash by ESMT. At the left, there's the DDR SDRAM, and in the middle, is an SoC by Actions Semiconductor, maybe ATJ227X series? As far as minor chips go, some kind of power IC or SPI ROM at the right, and a shift register or buffer on the bottom left. Sure wish the photo was less crappy. At least it doesn't seem like it has screen tearing! That's almost progress for media player SoC based consoles.
+Siana Gearz My phone camera sucks -_- that being said I'll try taking a better picture soon and uploading it elsewhere then putting a link in the description.
Aaaaah, it's OK, i'm sure someone out on the big wide interfishnet already made a few pictures. I actually found some when googling for the processor i suspect this to contain :P so obviously great minds think alike. Unfortunately there's no better information to be had even from very high quality pictures. The marking on the SoC is not familiar and the two tiny ICs i haven't identified at all either need to be licked to reveal the designation, microscoped under special light, or the designation has been removed.
Siana Gearz I use to have a much better phone with a better camera, the LG G4 but now I have a Samsung Galaxy J3 and the camera on it is horrible compared to it.
I once had one of these rip offs, but I returned it. The Nintendo logo on the controller is different than the real one, the backslash \ within the big 'N' letter is 'wider' than the real one, take a closer look and you will notice it easily.
DaGameNerd Ok 😊 Well i found a seller in China offering consoles for 90 $ incl shipping. So it is slightly higher. Love your videos. Thanks for sharing 😊
Came here after they busted these things in a shopping center. They were selling these at a Booth at my fair in idaho in a expo building. I got about 2 seconds of video before this older lady asked me to leave and put my phone down. They had a display 2ith donkey kong running. I knew it was illegal
How do you assume they got "scans online"? Don't you think they could have got a real box? and copied it? they probably have the official files..... Its all made in china man...
MrQuinnsey It has the same design as far as the box goes but internally and then externally the console and controllers (after being told in the comments) have just some small differences. The biggest difference though can only be seen when it's on, that's when you'd see the actual OS and how it sounds. There's no way it would look and sound like it does in the video if it was real.
It's an emulator. Just get RetroPie on a Raspberry Pi 3 with a NES case. Personnally, I prefer using an emulator on my 2DS XL, it's portable and more than capable!
Yes but please keep in mind that the box is nearly identical to the real one release in PAL territories, the signs you need to watch out for are the ones in the video not necessarily the box alone.
Shock N Awe At the time of this video the clone controller did not work with the original model released by Nintendo, don't know if the current re-release will work with it or if any changes have been made to the clone either.
I was ready to say that it was a European version but then I looked through the video and then I saw the gameplay for realised that it was a fake I'm so glad I actually bought mine from the Nintendo company
At least you (didn't) say it was the EU version xD too many people over time have said it's real. I bought it from China, guaranteed its not real with the errors it has & being from China (not directly from Nintendo).
@@DaGameNerd yea I did get mine from nintendo but they were selling it on amazon but you know a company has to make a profit and I know it's a real one because it was nintendo themselves on amazon who were selling it.
@@kirbys.korner1761 Well I'm glad you got a real one :) I don't know if you'll ever come back to my channel in the future but I'll probably be doing more knockoff product reviews (might be done fake joycon controllers soon) but I wanna get a beta video on Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire done first for my 2019 come back.
Folks listen and watch to this guy speaking because he clearly knows what he's talking about. This is a fake. I have the EU version and on my remote there aren't the errors seen in this one, two clear differences are on the spelling of "Herriotstrasse" and on "am Main"
princepeterwolf Thank you! A lot of people have been too quick to judge & simply won't watch the video after seeing it (looks) like a PAL unit, because of this I've received some obvious negative feedback but it's also made me decide I'll be reviewing my official USA console to a fake USA one.
DaGameNerd thank you for doing this! It is helping allot of people I am sure, don't mind the negative feedback because clearly they have no idea what they're saying. If you would like me to send you pictures of my remote's back or any other parts of the console let me know buddy. Keep up the good work! P.S. this is also my favorite :)
Thanks for the review, I got this one (shipping right now ) and saw your review. Il be sure to check for those fault, but I think Il keep it either way. I do have an original Nintendo at home with the games I like ( paperboy II ). I mainly bought this to quickly play quick games, in a small retro room Im making in my house. The nintendo I have right now is really hard to get the game playing so this will be a good replacement for quick games when we have parties. No one will make the difference drunk. haha. But I do appreciate the review, At least Il know if its a bootleg or not ( probably is ). As long as it works decent, Im okay with it.
You're welcome, thanks for watching :) Sidenote: If your Nintendo is an original odds are (and this is coming from experience) replacing/cleaning the 72-pin connector inside & disabling the lockout chip will help it play games better. If you plan on replacing the connector make sure to buy an OEM one. Otherwise a "good but cheap" clone to play carts is the Gamerztek 8-bit HD in my opinion but I've (heard) some good come from the Classiq 2 HD.
It is an original. But I dont know anything about everything you said. haha. Im not too good with electronics. Il check out the Gamerztek 8-bit HD and the Classiq 2 HD though. As long as they work good, thats all I really care about ! Il show my brother about the tech repair you talked about, he his pretty good at this stuff. :)
The box doesn't make it fake it's just the euro version. My nes has that box but it's real. I know that because it's nothing like the fake one in this video. The bootleg company obviously had access to the euro boxes to target European branches of shops
+Cameron47 Please watch the full video, I've commented this before. It's not an official EU console like some people immediately think, it's truly a knock-off clone because of the issues it has and even the different menu/differences on the console itself.
Poquetlicious Unfortunately no, I did get a U.S. version clone they made recently so we'll see if that one is better and of course if the controller works on the original.
+Poquetlicious Hello again, I got the U.S. clone today but it's just the same exact console as the one in the video. They only changed the box! So the unfortunately nothing is different.
+Poquetlicious Actually status update, the knock-off controller from this console works fine on my original NES classic for some reason but everything else remains the same as seen in the video.
The box is the actual European version but the unit its so bogus like Michael Jackson's funeral... The Nintendo font on the front its obviously crooked man! lol p.s. its funny though cause the font on the real Super Nintendo classic's front printing is also a bit crooked on the US version!
I accidentally got one of these and they're GARBAGE. The main worst thing is the save files don't work. Can't save any game... You ready to do Zelda on one life?
+hayful59 There's more than one link to it on there, it's just they they always change. I personally got one from there alongside the one seen in this video from Aliexpress.
true that I actually have this awesome Android GPD XD Handheld that plays every emulator Atari up to PS1/N64 that can also hook up to the tv the nes classic is kinda useless
jonnygotz2343, PAL is only slower if the games were not optimised for PAL, if they were then they run at the same speed or close enough to NTSC versions.
I Dan I went over this in the video and the comments, this is not the official EU version. It uses both EU and NTSC roms but is still a bootleg console which also explains why certain features don't work, the different motherboard, and why it can't be hacked.
Oh you bought that one?!!you rich fuck ;) i bought the cheap ass version from ali .the mini one with the av out .i should have payed more tho for the hamy one :(
vfddcv Once the review is posted you'll be able to see if it's worth it to you or not, and lol even for me the price for that Hamy Sega Genesis HD was high.
Its the the EU version!! Doesn't come with poster or usb plug in, thats it! Not a fake! There are fakes out there but the one he's holding in the beginning of the video is a EU version. Here's a link to a video confirming this. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PWSb4b98ABk.html
Jerrid Haavisto It's not the EU version, I can promise you that. The bootleggers copied the same box art from the official console because when Nintendo was making them they had them made in China. Nothing was edited to make it look different, it's all a real bootleg. There's typos, different roms and boards, and again the music sounds very different too (like a cheap camcorder copy).
Fair enough i have a EU version coming in the mail {wasn't aware of the difference between the US version at the time} I'll be inspecting for the issues you have pointed out. Thanks for your video.
The harvester Of souls It is fake, please watch the full video. I go over all the issues with this clone, it has menu options that don't work at all, audio glitches, the games & roms are different, they load differently as well, and other differences like the PCB board. It may look official but again it's not, please watch the full video.
raptor2569 Please watch the whole video, it's a fake of the UK version but still fake. The games don't play properly and the menu functions don't work the way they should either along with other things I go over like menu music lagging and sounding like it was recorded off a phone.
At some point I'll probably revisit this video and review my fake (USA) one, although it's the same bootleg in general. Yes this was going after a PAL region design but nonetheless it's still a bootleg and I go over the differences in the video as well, some comments even mentioned how the controller has typos which I didn't notice at first.
intel386DX Haha I have no intention of reviewing the fake Famicom classic unless I find it for around the same price as I paid for this console, only price I've seen it for is $150 and that's too much for a fake console.
wow :) it was even expencier then original NES classic (69$) I checked aliexpress as you told us in the video there are no more those FAKE NESes ,and the FAKE mini Famicom are true 150$ peace insane! Great review thanks a lot! BTW the quality is ok, but the software is rubbish! I assume there are no save functions ether right? :)
intel386DX Actually pressing start + select let's you access the menu and save on this clone, but pressing reset still doesn't work for me and does for others. Someone wrote this in the comments so I tried it and it worked so saving works on the clone.
pryslakryan Please watch the full video, it's a PAL version bootleg. I understand it looks similar to an official PAL NES Classic but it's still a bootleg from Aliexpress. Even the PCB board is different, the menu also doesn't work properly, and hackchi again doesn't work among other things like roms (games) not being consistent to the region of the console. I go over all this.
That i mean with the reset button is that you must do the start+select in game and (lock), the save then you can press reset button and saves are still there, i dont think its working if you only press reset button in a game, hope it help :)
