Some of the shots Boots took were way too clean for a fighter of his caliber. The “5 more” than Bud isn’t a great comparison because Avanesyan took the fight on 5 weeks notice, he’s 35, and only had 1 fight against a 11-55 opponent since Bud. In other words, Bud fought a younger, more active, and fully trained version of Avanesyan. I personally don’t think Boots got hit too much. He was never in danger and had a bit of ring rust. I think people are just nitpicking because Boots does everything very well.
I rewatched the Crawford fight last night and they are lying. Crawford definitely did get touched up especially in the 4th before he started getting angry. Avanesyan gave Bud some issues before he got serious. The commentator even stated to the others are you surprised Avanesyan has performed this well.
Crawford didn’t even budge. He got touched, yes. If you’re trying to compare to 2 fights, Boots definitely got hit too much. The Bud fight was a little over 2 years ago, Avanesyan was around 33 yrs old. Since that fight, Avanesyan only fought 1 guy who was 11-55. Again, Boots looked fantastic, but we also need to acknowledge that this WAS a late replacement. Bud fought a 2 year younger, more active, and fully trained avanesyan.

Numbers don’t tell a story of a fight. Bud was not getting hit with flush combos like boots was not was his head snapping around like boots did. Boots was getting his clean while he had his guard up, David was splitting the guard and popping his head and he was going around the guard and snapping boots head.
