ok well, the reason it's a "show-stopper" was mainly because after i made it, i stopped the show, so....
really though, it's more of a "nicer slicer" than a "boppered chopper". maybe a "kerrville side-handled axe". not sure. a lot of the time it's easier to make the stuff i make than to subsequently figure out a "correct" name for it.
i was ambivalent about not going ahead and making a G11 ultra-difficult "plainview pretzel" out of the rock, but i'd been lazy during the initial reduction and only worked one side, and since i was in a "groove" and rockin' the lazies, i decided to just go with it. but then i always tend to do those things in a minimalist way with just a few big flakes, so i figured i'd pretend to be reworking the thing in a more aggressive manner than the usual slight edge retouch.
whut?

I've several of these sorts of tools that I found in southwest Texas. Smaller. Outside of Laredo Tx by El Arroyo Chacon. I was a kid at the time and did not value them as much as points. Over the course of time my point of view has changed. The work that went into the design of their making is as good as it was in any point. Had I found one such you made I would have thought myself lucky. Joe

thanks for watching and commenting. i really like studying the flaking and issues with everything, so cores, bifaces, and tools and even flake tools are as interesting to me as projectile points.

That's awesome. Everyone makes points. And that's cool but so are all the other tools. Thanks man

i really like all the different tools, and it's fun to make the ones where you don't use part of the rock. that makes it a much bigger challenge to get the desired result. thanks for watching.

I was wondering, do you ever box up the flakes from all your knapping and sell them? If so how much do you typically charge?
@freezecracked8382
@freezecracked8382 3 года назад
no, i've never done that. but if you google flintknapping supplies you'll probably find hits for sellers who sell flakes as well as stone. most of my debitage immediately goes to a landfill. the few flakes i keep tend to get given away at knapins. knapins are a good place to go around asking about getting flakes. thanks for watching.
