The Landscaper is a unique Torgue shotgun that is available in Borderlands 2 as a quest reward if you side with the Hodunks in the Clan Wars saga.
It has very unique projectiles that linger if an enemy is not nearby, eventually rising up and exploding. The weapon has one of the absolute worst spread patterns in all of gaming.
Even after receiving a significant damage boost and a pellet count increase, the weapon still sucks compared to most shotguns. It's pretty surprising that even such a substantial potential DPS increase isn't enough to overcome the irredeemable spread pattern.
The spread pattern is rectangle shape, and it's very impractical, and even with its damage increases it remains among the worst weapons in the game.
It still does not get grenade damage- which is severely disappointing.

I really tried. I think this weapon absolutely need grenade damage boosts. It's still pretty garbage.

You can always save it yourself though. Just edit the patch .txt. It's easy.

Shames the torgue name. Feels like the weapon just needs a spread pattern change, or grenade damage boosts and even more damage. Hard to keep the idea the developers had for the weapon intact while also making it relevant.

Jaum VR and it would have been really cool being a unique blue.. Maybe not ravager powerfull, but close would have been reasonable to me.. Fiber is totally right, it is just silly that it doesn't get grenade DMG boost

Rob Cips Yeah, that would be awesome, with Axton and Krieg this gun would clean rooms in seconds That is how a badass Torgue shotgun need to perform in my opinion, bigger explosions and raw power

Jaum VR yep. This thing vanilla is still some what viable with 10/5 bloodbath, and will always trigger it, but it's more about bloodbath making viable even white pistols xD

Two things I'm seeing that I haven't seen you mention, yet. Point blank isn't dealing self-damage, at least I'm not seeing it be a factor in practical use. Also, I know you're not the biggest fan of Gaige, but I'm curious if Close Enough may do something to its projectiles. I'll check that for myself.

It might be best for the weapon for it got get a full replacement with the Wombat from the Pre-Sequel of all things. With that, a slight fire rate bonus, and access to grenade damage bonus, it could be the minefield generator the devs presumably intended. The pentagonal shape allows for a better ability to lead a target on the minefield, and having it just run with the same philosophy of Torgue barreled assault rifles with no crits but massive base damage boosts just makes the most sense for the playstyle intended.

I think I have an interesting idea: turn this weapon into a short-range grenade launcher that can be used to set up minefield effectively. This means several things: -projectiles always fall to the ground, even upon connecting with an enemy (I’m not sure if this is even possible) -it shoots grenades, so it gets grenade damage boosts as well as much more damage than the weapon it’s based off of -more pellets, which means more grenades -it is impossible to ADS with this weapon. Instead, your ADS button is used to detonate your grenades.

Not sure if this is the right place to post it but i'm pretty close to getting (basically just gibbing the parts) a Bigg Thumppr that does more roid damage than the hide of terra. Here's the actual shield: imgur.com/a/Hxzj85u Everything was maliwan except for the Body (or alpha in gibbed imgur.com/a/E7dGgow), which was Anshin. I even used BL2 enemy swappers to spawn like 100 donkey mongs, and got 0 Maliwan body parts (or atleast on the left side). So yeah that's the progress i've been able to make with it, might try out more tomorrow or not idk

Okay, I'll add grenade bonus damage to the pellets as well, maybe reduce the amount of pellets to four, buff the damage and the blast radius a lot and turn the Landscaper into a quad-shot grenade launcher/shotgun hybrid. Then I can upload it to github today, hopefully it won't take too long. I think Gearbox should honor Luke by having an NPC or enemy named "Fiber" or something like that in Borderlands 3. I'm sure they have watched some of these videos and gained input from them.

Wow, a MoLMF video I agree with, is Controller-Boy okay? This weapon definitely needs to either get its base gun damage buffed or added to the list of splash damages that can be grenade boosted, as even an Explosive Relic doesn't help it's case. By the way, I'm waiting for a Does it Suck on the Manly Man Shield from you, and I assure you, spoiler alert-- it doesn't suck.

The Flakker was buffed too, and I think it rekt before. Kreig with a slag singularity would be better with this gun, still sucks though.

Can be used for groups of enemies, large bosses, hit&run up close shots or support (also in groups). You can`t be doing the same weapons test for all weapons, when all you do is fire at single small or medium sized enemies in the same locations.. That`s just, weird..

Go to a place where there are a lot of enemies below you or in a narrow space and unload a mag or to into a group lol.. I still use swordsplosion tho.. The landscaper DOES suck, but not because it doesn`t work this way.. Clearly it`s not meant for single small enemies with that pattern..

Jan Christian Frodahl With some singularity grenades you can make it work, and i'm really interested to see the patched version of the weapon with Explosive/Hellborn Krieg against The Warrior, all the fire rate, mag size and damage increase should do great on him

VArkelS nice And the carnage Has it become more then just a 'carry low lvl for rockets(though a low lvl logans gun is more viable bc of ammo cap' gun I mean I used it on an Xp Krieg but I got more use from a regular purple-gemstone ravager

The Carnage got a good buff from the patch. iirc it now always has 3 projectiles and the vertical grip now gives I believe a damage and stability buff

Have you ever considered a Flesh Crunch build with a Cobra post-UCP? Sniper Krieg is actually fairly legit now; it can't trigger Blood Bath, which is stupid, but it's at least worth noting that a passive, 'sane' Krieg gameplay is even more viable. Nothing overwhelming or even impressive of course, but it's fun enough if you need a break (if you're a Kreig player, at least). Seeker is also more than decent for melee builds to step up to the average miniboss and be less suicidal in general! But what a boring gun.

Weapons with fixed spreads like this don't work. It's not the fact that it has a fixed spread, it's the pattern itself that ruins it.

It is a fan made modification, for PC only, called "unoffiical community patch" or "UCP" or "communty patch". I think it goes back some years and got several updates to change stats of many weapons and other things like skins, slightly higher chance for legendaries, plus there are more options if you use the "filter tool"... have a look: mentalmars.com/game-news/borderlands-2-unofficial-community-patch/ Afaik: if you join a game where the host runs the UCP it applies to your character/ items.

True But close enough sorta improves the accuracy of the weapon a lot since some of the mines will ricochet after hitting the floor or a wall, and since they do a crap ton of damage due to anarchy (and the patch too) it becomes an amazing weapon That being said i have managed to kill myself with the ricochet more times than i want to admit

This weapon actually works great on stalkers and skags if you use it as intended by laying mines on the ground between you and the enemies. It's called the landscaper for a reason. Not top tier, but it has a purpose.

Israfel Nibiru anything that gun can do, any purple shotgun can do better. It is not worth wasting your time with a weapon that has one "intended use" as it wastes ammo and time

Hey moral, this gun isn't fully useless, it can be used to get a huge rocket jump off using the logans gun to instantly detonate them, worked that way in the pre squeal, should work that way in 2 as well

imo the point of this weapon was never to shoot it at an enemy; theweird shot pattern is to encourage you to lay a minefield and make enemies walk into it

Yeah but if Zer0 can't make a shotgun work with deception and crits the shotgun probably doesnt deal enough damage to work no matter how you use it. If the mines had a longer fuse time and maybe some knockback you could use it more tactically but the mines begin to detonate before you even have a chance to swap weapons. Best use for the Landscaper imo is as a placeholder for Aaron's HammerV3 mod.

You'd still have to be incredibly close to an enemy to get all 4 pellets in a close enough area to hit one enemy. And if you shoot the ground, you obviously can't get crits.
