I've seen a fair amount of travel videos sponsored by governments (ex: Rachel and Jun have travel videos sponsored by various Japanese provincial governments, a BUNCH of influencers were invited to Uzbekistan last year, Saudi Arabia has thrown a ton of money into influencer sponsorships, etc.) but this is the first food-focused sponsorship I've seen. But, makes sense when "culinary diplomacy" is such a huge thing.

Reason why he gets these sponserships? As a Korean it's pretty clear that this is because he "does his homework". It caught my eye that they sent you an entire bottle of plum syrup, which unlike cooking oil can't be used very often outside of Korean recipes- if you're at a loss for what to do with the stuff, plum syrup can be diluted a bit with heated water to make plum "tea", which is supposed to be good for disgestion. This is a really great informative video Just a minor mistake I noticed The korean name for yellow corvina is actually 조기 (jogi) it's not until it's been dried and salted that it's called 굴비 (gulbi) which can be also be fermented in barley to make the 보리 굴비 (bori gulbi) in this video but bori gulbi is just one way of making gulbi. And this is not really a mistake but maybe interesting, the most common way to eat gulbi is to simply serve the whole fish with the fins cut off and debone it with chopsticks while you eat it. Thanks for making videos on korean culture, it was fun to see your take on the korean traditional ingredients.

맨날 스폰 받아다 이상한 광고 넣었는데 정부 스폰받으니 진짜 본격적이네. 근데 확실히 외국인들은 지방정부가 홍보하는게 신기하긴 한가보다.

Hey Adam, It's really awesome to see less commonly represented culinary cultures in your channel. Loved the recipe and looking foward for more! Can I suggest you take a look at some Brazilian dishes? I'd love to see your take on a Feijoada or Pão de Queijo :)

When I was stationed in Korea, we had to deliver munitions to the military port in that part of the country and stayed over night on the coast ofJeollanam-do. Not much of a US presence besides the small port team, so our ROKAF counterparts took us out for dinner, soju and karaoke. Great food, great people, massive hangover.

"This right here is gim" As a Korean, I don't know whether to laugh or jump off the nearest cliff. The correct pronunciation is "Geem" btw. I actually die a little whenever he says something wrong.

Honestly i think he did great other than maybe "go chew jang", romanized korean does not really help with figuring out pronunciation at all
@jalexanderbill
@jalexanderbill 3 года назад
eh, the "gim" pronunciation was better than I'd expect from most native English speakers. I'll add my vote that "goCHUjang" was the most egregious. I'm certainly willing to forgive some weak pronunciation since Adam is spreading awareness of the incredible flavors of Korea.
