Today is 30th.Oct.2023 I am 65 years old now...this video is a history...it tells us history of Music..dance..peoples..youngs..so many things...this video takes me back to my old days. Thanks from Philipines.Cebu City.
Even if you cant dance, how does this song NOT make you want to get up and dance anyways? Truly one of the best if not THE best dance songs of all time. Play this today in a club and i guarantee that dance floor is full of people
Its the middle of the Cold War, Vietnam has only been over 4 years, Iran is ready to fall to Islamists, Thatcher has just been elected and its still 10 years to the fall of the Berlin Wall *yet* despite the Cyprus Invasion to mention one thing, this happens in 1979. MAGIC.
In the late 70s, I lived 1-1/2 blocks from Alfie's Disco in San Francisco, and I used to go there every night and dance for at least two hours. This was my aerobic exercise for the day. I did not go on week-ends generally because there was a $1 cover charge (and it was too crowded), and on weeknights, I only spent 25 cents for the coat check. I did not buy drinks, but I did help make the place look busier during the week, and I flirted with people who did buy drinks. I started several great relationships there.
I was a disc jockey at a small disco in Chicago. This song always filled the dance floor. Great times, happy people. It seemed nobody had a care in the world,.
If I had the money I'd bring disco back. Kids would put down their games and cell phones and just dance. Remember the only games were Space Invader and Pong?!? What happened 🤣😋 Paula
Yep, I was there for disco. It was AWESOME. The dancing kept us all skinny and fit. Back then men used to dance and you had to dress up to get in. No jeans or joggers allowed. We used to spend hours on our hair and make up and sweat it all of in an hour or so from dancing so hard lol. Yes, there were lights under the floor. It was the BEST.
Barbara Ives I don’t Remember seeing any more mates with make up on your right about the hair Took the ages and lots of hairspray suited and booted great Friday nights 💃🕺
You can go raving if you want to have this experience. At least I did back in 2000. A lot. Still some of the best experiences of my life. They'd often play tracks with this kind of eurodisco beat from this video. No fights or drama all night long Here are samples from southern California ru-vid.comUgkxwy3jpLoiSvWuv3fBcaEQBKU63MV08oa0 ru-vid.comUgkxRihpLbMTTEWNu57a33rt3pkjkW8EX5Cn It's all epic disco tracks with a techno rhythm
Patrick nailed it completely. Disco Music was a testament for all generations to come. A time when this kind of music really make you feel, ALIVE..I thank to heavens that I lived to bear witness of that..🕺
This presentation proves that (Disco) dancing was a way of life around the world. Patrick Hernandez's "Born To Be Alive" was the ultimate anthem for this video. These dancers are all winners to me.
Something everyone everywhere could get into, a trailblazing development showcasing a lot of new production techniques like the use of samplers - A distinct part of why it got done dirty in the US. In contrast to what the Comiskey Park crowd in '79 would say, though, Disco's been thoroughly vindicated by history. Its influence is everywhere!
I love how some of the dancers seem to mix disco with moves from the traditional dances of their own countries. It adds that extra touch of eclectic creativity.
That was 7 minutes and 27 seconds of pure, unadulterated joy. Those people were kinesthetic geniuses. I wish our world now had even 1/10 of the passion and love of life they did.
This is seriously my favorite song of all time! I've even told my friends. I wish for this song to be played at my services when I pass, as a celebration of the miracle & wonder of Life!
¡¡Esto si que era bailar!! 🤩💕👏 Veo que esas épocas tenían música increíble, yo soy de los 2000s y me encantaría que volvieran estas modas de antes. 🥰❤😍💕
Me too, and i am still dancing like in that time... And I feel big sorrow for today's generations - how they live like in the prison, the main fun for them are the protest in the streets against lockdowns,,,,, But even before that, they forget to dance......
I just love this, in a world echoing the absurdity of existence you find disco, it's not pretentious, it's not profound, it's not tribalistic, it's just mind free fun.
I am 67, have phase 4 cancer, but I looove this song to smittens. Can't get enough of it. Specifically the short that the girl with white dress made. Now that is living.
This masterpiece shouldn't have just 89 million views, it should have 890 billion views. It was played in all nightclubs , birthdays, weddings, etc. Musical piece that would be played at all occasions and places. A real gem. Perhaps the one which would identify the 1970's Disco genre. Who's with me on this thought?
@@theodoreritola7641 I'll tell you why that happens. More than one person uploads the same video to RU-vid. The first person uploads the video, then another person copies it and uploads it again. That's why you see different views later on when you happen to see the videos again. If you compare the name of the person who uploaded the video, you'll notice it is a different person. So, if you remember that a song had 100 million views , and later you notice that it shows only 20 million views, it is not the same exact video & from the original person who placed it or uploaded onto RU-vid, the lesser views video should be for the copied video and which was uploaded/placed on RU-vid later on.
Lotta coke too…. Seems to help… till about the mid 90’s end of addiction trainwreck… But it was badass…. I’m jealous. And people didn’t have the never ending resentment that fills our world now. God bless.
It was a time of self-expression. Dance is one of the greatest arts of self-expression. People live in fear and shame now. Seeing these competitors dance with such happiness and confidence, it really shows how diff the world is. Now we have crap like American Idol. Everything is about criticism.
Me too ! I was 18 when this song was popular . I’ve heard that Madonna got her start as a dancer for this guy and this song . I wonder if there’s any video of her dancing with the back up dancers ?
That's because cell phones weren't invented then! I was Djing back in those days, each night ended in a 10 minute smooch session, with a couple of slow songs. Great memories. Sadly Karaoke has killed disco's!! (imo).
This song brings me so much joy. I run every morning and watching these people get down keeps me going the extra mile. I’m in recovery from substance abuse and we used to do a workout video with this song in it in a program I went to. I was only 109 pounds at the time. I’m 5’8. Years later in better health and still clean and sober I listen to this when I workout and think about all the things I’m grateful for
4:35 & 4:50 were awesome too! I loved Manuela's (girl from Portugal) wild moves! How any of these girls pulled off these great moves in high heels is quite the feat!
Sometimes I like to think the earth is being invaded by aliens, and the whole destiny of our lives consists in a dancing battle against the aliens, and those people in the video are our soldiers.
This was a time where people were a lot healthier than today. We would get off work on a Friday and dance the weekend away. What a fun time in life. It will never happen again . I was so glad to have been a part of it. Great song. !
It’s incredible that Patrick Hernandez had initially a total different idea for born to be alive but the producer weren’t interested at the time. He therefore stopped his music career and started raising cattle in his French hometown. A few years later, the producer offered him to release the song in a disco style, very popular at the time. The man made one hit, won more than 50 golden records throughout the world and still lives comfortably in Provence up to this day.
Que emoción volver escuchar esta inolvidable música de mi época, gracias gracias por compartir ❤❤🎶🎼🎶🎤🎶 estoy super feliz 🎼🎶🎤 es como volver estar ahí...
OMG! THAT WAS THE TIME!!! We used to dance every evening in our disco-clubs without cellphones, we had a direct contacts and hughssss. I'm really sad for those new generations, especially now - it's so boring to sit at home - but you are born to be alive!!!
When music like disco brought all walks of life together. Black, white, brown, yellow etc. It didn't matter so much like today. I was born in 79' and enjoyed this music in my 20's, even now. My 5 year old and 1 year old keep asking to see this video. They'll know what Disco is growing up. Awesome video!!!
I was 12 years old in 1979 living in NYC. My friends and I used to stand across the street from Studio 54 and watch all the stars go in....it was surreal. Your post is 100 percent accurate in regards of all races just having fun. Seems like ancient history.
Jean Venlo forever ! Just watched an amazing docu about the producer and how this song was made .. I remember singer Patrick Hernandez on every tv-show in the 70-ies .. plus, Madonna was a background dancer for Patrick for a while, before she was famous.
The tune that started me Djing age 10 in clubs for the rave scene to start. What an experience but this tune tops the lot.Amazing timeless and thankyou for being alive!!!
Cant watch this without smiling ear to ear!! Grew up in the 80s, I really believe that was the last generation of genuine individuals, genuine fun, open hearts, spirit, and true connection 👯♀️💓
You hit the nail on the head exactly this is the way it was in those days I was a teenager in those days and I loved it and I miss it and I would give anything in the world to go back God if only people knew what it was like back then only if people could understand what it felt like you can see it in this video it's loud and clear what life was like and how people were what happened to us what happened to this world what happened to human beings and people how do we end up like this now ?
Can watch this endlessly. I'm gonna sell everything I own and open a night club exclusively playing 70s, 80s and 90s hits. None of today's crap. 70s night will be called "Born 2B Alive" Who's with me?! Yeah
The love of my life passed away on 28th December and he loved this tune. Its a bit before my time (I'm 31 and he was 52) and it makes me so happy to listen to it. And know he's jamming to it in paradise. R.I.P Mike my love. I'll look forward to dancing to it with you again. X
It’s not just the great dance moves and the exuberant smiles. It’s also those outfits. I was there. I remember. Can’t believe I dressed like this to go out. So crazy. So fun 😂
You need polyester flares and stacked heels too!! My cat is called Dr Pickles, not joking she's an all black 15 yr old rescue cat :) peace and disco Sophie
Época ermos felizes e não sabíamos hoje tem muitas músicas que não nos agrada mas para mim continuo nos anos 70..80..90..só coisas boas parabéns por vc gostar das lindas músicas músicas
2021 and this seems like so much fun!!! Completely reminds me of my mom and watching her dress up and go out dancing. Those were simpler times.... can we go back
Back in those days no cell phones no internet. I was a life loving young man who enjoyed this and many other exiting disco songs...yes I want to go back...
