During the “And you’re mean to kids” part I keep hearing it as “Why can’t you just stop hitting on them?” And it fits for what’s going on with so many influencers
Penelope Scott's music perfectly reflects my feeling of anger and frustration at the world, but also just being so tired and drained that if you tried to do anything youd break down out of stress.
@@jillianrose2891 Well then it's just deciding if you wanna kill everyone on the earth or yourself. Doesn't change much, without god in the first place it'd be pretty hard to keep heaven in control, and then woosh. More angry spirits depending on what you believe in. Soo- idk. (Ik it's a joke lol)
UGH SAME TGEY THINK I SHPULDNT WERE CLOTHES THGAT DONT COVER MY BISY COMPLETELY OTHERWISE ILL GET RAPED AND IT WILL BE MY FAULT TRKTFJTGA SO Y E A H sorry this is so long
As a soft boi, I never got invited. But in all seriousness whoever went was fucked up and really, really needs to be punished. Gods forbid it was a minority, all of them would be dead and we know it.
what we got were children that got buthurt that their god-daddy got his ego hurt by losing fairly just so happens that they also were in adult bodies and had guns
I swear when gen z all become adults and become old enough to really make our place in government, we are gonna do so much good. I feel like in previous gens like gen x, they really kick started the movements right? But generally speaking it was out of the norm to be an activist and activists were the minority. In our generation its quite the opposite though, which is why I genuinely believe things will be so much better when we are in power. The fact that the large majority of us are activists in some shape or form (probably due to widespread internet access) is what makes us so different.
*Me hearing the "storm the Capitol" bit:* Well then. I'm not sure if this aged perfectly or terribly, considering that animals did in fact storm the Capitol
I've listened to this at least 10 times because I'm mad at my parents for saying that the BLM movement is wrong and I am *THIS CLOSE* from playing it right in their faces.
Obviously the MOVEMENT isn't the problem, it's the way *some* people are going about it. If that's what they're referring to then I understand. But if they were referring to the entire thing then yeah, fuck them.
@@asmurr3797 Yeah they were talking about how "everyone heard about some random person getting killed out of context, and then they just started rioting" and "There isn't even a need to all of this protesting, systemic racism is a thing in the past." (my parents are WHITE, by the way.)
@@weirdowithahoodie289 I get what your putting down, and I'm not trying to devalue your argument whatsoever, but just a friendly reminder that racism against white people is still very much racism. Obviously in that comment you're not saying it isn't, just figured I'd say it. (Obviously this has nothing to do with the movement either)
this song has always encompassed my feelings on the world. just angry and so tired you wanna give up, but giving up is exactly what they want you to do, and if you do you're letting them win. it hits that beautiful area between "the world will never change and i cant fix it" and "im not going down without a fucking fight first".
I just gave up, way happier now that I've realized that nothing will ever really change anyways so I might as well just do my own thing while flipping the bird towards what the big men in power think. I don't have enough energy to care anymore, so I don't and instead I'm just focusing on what I can do to make a positive impact on the world that isn't trying to tackle an enemy too big for my britches. Works pretty well, better than throwing myself at a concrete wall over and over again hoping I'll make a dent one day. They can "win" their imaginary game all they want, but it doesn't really mean anything if I'm not playing by their rules to begin with. Those people are probably unhappy as hell anyways, like who seriously wants to be the remorseless jerk everyone else despises. They can keep their castles, I'll take an apartment and a decent paying job I actually enjoy over that bs any day.
@@InHellDeep usually I say policing people's music taste is bullshit. I will make an exception here: Trump enables a lot of stuff she sings about. This music is not for you. Good thing he's getting tossed
@@Theinconspicuousman993 the og TikTok had "Your Nixon smile makes me fucking sick..." but here it's "and this whole thing makes me fucking sick..." the first time (the second time is Nixon)
“And your mean too kids” honestly I feel so bad for kids, they’re always being called “cringe” and being picked on by older people, honestly it pisses me off so much. :(
i’m so happy this is out! i found your music through the born2run preview and been singing that nonstop so it’s awesome to see what you did with the lyrics and flow of the song! this will be on repeat lol, looking forward to the final version

hey it is/was january 6th (it is now for me) and i remember listening to this song last year, scrolling through the comments and someone said that january 6th was their birthday but i cant find em so happy birthday wherever you are lol
I found a different song by you on my fyp and did a deep search of your page for more music where I found your website with this song so I came here to see if it was uploaded. That's how much I like your music lmao
@carl fuckin wheezer a more detailed analysis/answer!! The line itself and the whole song happened before the Trump riot happened in January, she was predicting a riot, but she was very off on the people who would do it. "Thots and animals" I want to first pick apart animals, a modern piece of propaganda that is put in school is the need to read "animal farm" which is a book about how the animals took over the farm, it's supposed to be taken as a comparison to the Russian revolution and usually is served as anti socialist sentiment. "Heh still think socialism is cool? Read animal farm" Thots, and the general way the song treats everything seems to refer to just really women that enjoy more newly scrutinized things like "girls dressed in cracked skulls" and the argument "are you really gonna save the world posting your tits on Instagram" "hell yeah I'll go to congress wearing this man" This bashes the way people just view women as lesser for wearing less clothes when in reality their words and activism matter much more if they felt comfortable in a specific item of clothing. If you look into the lesbian protests of the gay rights era you'll see the portrayed themselves a similar way not caring for the bullshit and unneeded judgment of others. Penelope is speaking the lingo of those who view these people as lesser, the workers, the women, the minorities and spitting in their faces playing their own game when it comes to political jargon. Just how the word queer was reclaimed as well in a way. At the end, if you seek the new version of the song she expects that the world would be a better place after it. Unfortunately she was wrong about this because the demographic who stormed was different and also had irrational reasons of to do so. This is a copy pasted response I sent to a friend and a couple of other commentators but I think it's important to explain! It's about animal farm and the scrutiny towards women. As much as the people who stormed were engaging in animal like behavior, this is politically coded otherwise.
this is probably my favorite song by you, can't wait until you release it officially. don't overwork yourself though, just live your dreams at your own pace cause you're fucking awesome!!!
there was a threatened bombing at my middle school by one of the former students and the first thing the staff had to say to all of the 5-8 graders was "just calm down, it's fine" infuriating. we could've all been blown to bits and they just told 16,000 kids to just stop crying about it. good job staff, you're a statistic sorry that isn't really relevant to the song I just saw everyone getting angry about adults failing them and decided to put in my two cents
This song In My opinion depicts how You really want to make a change. You look up To these people who Say that they support these things. But their just in it For the aesthetic and punk look of it. In truth they dont want to make a change. It sucks. You really want to help people in pain and then their are people doing it for fun :/
MA'AM you are someone that we needed as an artist. thank you so fucking much for making your tunes. i am so glad i found you when i did because i *will* be listening to everything you put out. keep doing you and take your time on all of your projects!
