Owen, pleased you got a fix. Best clear out the oil hole in the bar. There are 2 and they go from each of the bar adjusting holes to the bottom of the groove (top and Bottom of the bar). This lines up with the long slot above the bar mounting bolt on the chainsaw body. When you turn the bar then the other oil hole is used and it is commonly blocked, cheers

Thanks Andy, I took it apart again to clean it before I put it away, and the bottom of the chain groove in the bar had a good slick of oil, but given that there was stuff in the bottom of the grove at the start of the video I will check a line between the adjuster holes and the groove. Thanks for the help.

I was about to comment on not clearly seeing how well the oil delivery finds its way into the groove of the bar. But the snots within the bar looked soaked in oil so presumed working OK. Little holes at the nose sprocket good for dripping a bit of oil in now and then

I swapped bars on an electric chainsaw of mine to go from a hard to soft nose. Unfortunately the oil pathways don't line up so I have to spray the chain every cut or so.

Thanks but our chainsaw Bosch only one red.knob when you detached the casing on yours red knob remained fixed whereas on mine it còme out with the casing , why ,

I put chainsaw oil in a 5 litre spray bottle, the one where you pump the handle at the top to get pressure. After using my hedge trimmer I spray the blade with the oil. Used to use spray cans, works out to expensive. I also a home made soray can puncture device, let the can get rid of the gas then drain the remaining oil., It's surprising how much oil you get.

what does the puncture device look like? have you made a video of it? is it safe? I am interested in this, I have the same problem with aerosols.

Hi, I will try and make a video of it. The reason I made it was that I used a nail, hit it on the can and the oil sprayed everywhere including on me. Do you have an email I can send some pictures. It is not an enclosed device, is it safe? I have not had a spark yet from puncturing the can.

I use a hacksaw on them. You can just saw enough off not to go through then give the can a bit of a twist within a carrier bag to contain the propellant.

A likely cause is the black bar tightening knob coming into contact with the casing, stopping the bar being properly tightened even though it’s fully hand tight. The solution I found is to prise out the captive nut from the black knob and tighten it fully with a 13mm spanner, then bin the black knob, which is obviously a bad design. No more loose chain! And please don’t ask why I’m not keen on black knobs, no offence….
