I am learning my new Moustache weekender and this was just terrific. I will probably do a leisurely rewatch as well. One thing I can tell you is that this display is light years better than the one I had on my gen 3 Bosch.

Great review! AFAIK the new Nyon has a power-off mode and a standby mode. The latter is the instant on mode. That's why it seems to switch on faster compared to the old Nyon.
Being an honest guy, I'll freely admit 80% of this video flew straight over my head. I don't own a mobile 'phone, I'm barely literate regarding computers, and I cherish my ignorance. Having said that, if young Chris reckons this is the display to have, then that's good enough for me.
Thanks for this review - just got this installed by the dealer on my new Gazelle C380+ and have done just a few rides around my neighborhood thus far and really like its features.. The display is very legible - much more so than my previous Garmin bike computer. Did a ride yesterday with heart rate monitor which worked well. And while export to Strava isn’t automatic - at least it is pretty much a 2 click operation in the Bosch web app - and the data all seems to be there in Strava - so really like having that ability - though obviously not Nyon specific. Can’t wait to explore some of the surrounding trails with this new setup! Thanks again for your in-depth review!
@Scott Jacobs I have the C380+ with the Nyon also. Which heart rate monitor did you pair with your Nyon? I would like to pair my Garmin Fenix 5s plus with the Nyon to get the heart rate monitor to show. Is this possible? My Nyon will not discover the Fenix 5s plus at all.
@@Baldhills Hey I have a polar heart rate strap (Bluetooth) that I use with it - seems to work pretty well - easy to pair and has been pretty dependable to connect so far. I think bluetooth is required - does the Fenix broadcast using Bluetooth or just Ant+ - I assume if it does you have gone into the watch settings to make sure it was set to broadcast via Bluetooth. May have to turn that capability on in the settings - just a guess.
How do you like your C380+? I have a large high step, and my wife has the small mid step. The Nyon just got a firmware update from Bosch today. We really like ours so far 😀
@@Baldhills Thanks for the info on the firmware update. Will have to check that out. So far I really like it - have a little over 100 miles on it so far - and shifting is starting to loosen up. My wife got a Medeo T10 mid-step and was able to ride it for the first time last weekend. It is great to be able to ride in the hilly neighborhoods where I live without worrying about getting overly tired - the electric boost definitely comes in handy. And I have to say the battery life thus far has been pretty good - I use Eco mode a fair amount and reserve the higher modes for when I need to climb a steep and relatively long hill. But even with just that little boost - it really makes a big difference. Can't wait to take our bikes up to Ohio this summer - have a family farm up near Ashland and look forward to riding around all of the back country roads in that area. Should be a lot of fun.
@@scottjacobs8245 Sounds good. My wife is now able to ride with me now. She always got too tired on the hills around here on her non eBike. Now she can stay with me if I go easy, and I’m hoping to get her in better shape with the petal assist. I mostly ride in eco and tour, and if I get tired or need it higher assist levels. Trying to get her to do the same.

Since watching you i have now ordered my Supercharger 2 with Nyon display due to land here just abut Xmas so thank you for all your great input. I now have the Nyon since last year around autumn and I enjoy it most of the times. I observed two or three things that mostly look like a bug. Sometimes synchonising an activity takes forever and the display gets really warm in such cases. On the ebike-connect portal you either get a dashed line in such cases or weird fat lines which looks like some error correction of the GPS signal did not work. I also observed, probably a minor nit, that your WLAN access point must have a SSID that is publicly visible. The final thing I observed is that the bluetooth connection between the display and my polar heart rate sensor does not work properly. It somehow gets lost and then you have to disable bluetooth on the display and re-enable it again to bring back the connection.
Hi Chris, love your vids - you've helped me lots get comfortable spending so much on a load75. Just one comment, changing assist levels doesnt necessarily mean a change in speed, so the trip time wouldnt change. It makes it easier for you to ride faster, and that probably edges up most peoples speed but until you're riding the trip time wouldnt really be able to be calculated on that. It might adjust as it gets more data on your riding pace as I think google maps does.

This is not where your apartment is, according the video you did from it, or the satellite view is definitely not accurate. 🤪😂 But you might love donuts or Mexican food. 😁 As you can guess I'm also the kind of guy trying to find where videos or movies are recorded and I succeed most of the time, I didn't find your apartment block though, 🤣🤣🤣 but it seems to be a nice one. It might be too new for the map even with the pretty unique details you gave. 🙂

Comprehensive review. I didn’t know there was this amount of functionality. Really adds varies to the Reise & Müller range of eBikes where the Nyon is offered and an option.

Chris, thank you for your reviews, they are much appreciated. Yesterday I road on the Lake Okeechobee Scenic Trail with my new Nyon on my HS Riese & Muller Charger. When syncing my .gpx file the notification, “Selected route could include parts which are not allowed for your current bike type. You must observe road and traffic conditions, and comply with traffic laws at all times. Therefore it would not load my .gpx file into the Nyon navigation. So…is there a work around to allow me to use navigation planning on trails with my Nyon? I don’t won’t my bike to be my Nanny! Thanks. Eric
Komoot is an awesome app. Love the turn by turn directions I don't have to touch my phone at all now. Screen turns on at turns only. Does the turn by turn directions come through with this?
Chris, I have a Riese and Muller Charger 3 GT Vario in Hertfordshire England and love watching all your videos. Do you have a phone case solution for using the iphone 11 Pro Max (or indeed the about to be released 12pro max) with the Bosch Smartphone hub. I have had to take my phone out of the case for it to be secure in the Smartphone hub which is very annoying. Bosch seemed to have stopped supporting their bespoke case option at the XsMax which is very annoying !!!! I do hope Riese and Muller are paying you for producing the videos as they are top notch !
I swapped from kiox to this, and I mostly like the Nyon, but it does load up really slow when turning it on, and the touch screen lag is noticeable. Kiox gives alot of info and its feels snappier.
i have bought it recently and have some question : 1)I have not used assistance since yesterday , the display was sleeping, or just was showing the map, the battery lost 7% of the capacity.... Just in the second half of the day...Is it normal? 2 ) how can I set turning off the display automatically ( how it was with Intuvia) 3) I see some kind of error messages about visiting the dealer ,it looks like after installation Nyon instead of Intuvia. How are important these messages? Can I continue riding, because I don't have a dealer in my country 4) After completing of the charge this one is not turned off ? Why i see 100% caption and that is all . Thank you in advance!
I hope the navigation is better than google navigation as that sucks big time. nice to see a colourful display but a bit pricey. UL certified seems good idea better than that EU certified that is a waste of time it, means crap over here. Good video thanks.
Google Navigation is very good, but Open Street Maps is just growing in the US. I think in other parts of the world it's better due to popularity. I think it will continue to improve overtime with usage, but it seems the addition of Komoot is really helpful for bike paths.
It might be possible for an individual as the wiring is the same. Sometimes the bike will require an update, but I think most can handle this sort of change.
@@Propelbikes The wiring is the same but the physical dimensions are not. The Kiox is smaller. How to deal with that on a R&M bike which has been delivered with the Kiox computer ? I mean regarding to the mounting process on the handelbar. Regards.
Hello Chris, I have just retrofitted the new Nyon 2021 to my Trek Rail. when I select a route, there are two icons in the bottom of the screen, one with an ¨A¨ on a line and another with a white dot in the middle of a line. I have the Nyon2 and would like to connect my Garmin Fenix 5s watch to it via Bluetooth and get the heart rate data to display on the screen. Is this possible? Great video BTW!
Did I understand you correctly? If you pay for the "individual riding modes" thing on the Nyon, it renders your E-MTB mode (CX Gen. 4) useless? Thats a load of crap to be quite honest. Why not give the user control over the Eco, Tour and Turbo modes while still keeping E-MTB as it is?

I have a Trek rail 7 How hard would it be for me to install it myself? I am a bike mechanic but don’t do a lot on the electric end of things. Or do I need to go to an authorized Bosch dealer which I’m really opposed to doing.
Hey Marc! Hope you are doing well. I don't believe there is any specific integration. There might be some way to export your data to Strava then to Apple Health or something, but Strava is the only external integration at the moment.
I’m considering the Kiox or nyon. The nyon looks very big. Does that impact the ride. Ill be doing trails and fire roads rather than any rough or technical terrain. It. Will be on a cube hardtail. I like having data from my rides. Would you recommend the nyon or kiox?
I bought a phone holder which I can connect to my Intuvia. So if I want to have navigation, I look on my phone. Price was very very low. A connection cable (small USB to small USB) and a phone holder , 10 euro. So the electricity in my phone stays on 100%. So I can charge my smartphone! On Intuvia! I like the simplicity of the Intuvia display. In the Netherlands you also have bicycles routes with numbers. Let say I go from Rotterdam to a small town 40 km away. First I need to go to number 14. When I arrive at number 14 there is a map there. With a lot of choices, I want to go to the small town so I need to go to number 28. And so on. Sometimes I just write the numbers on a piece of paper and I can follow the numbers all the way. No need to take a cart with you. I am happy you get a kick out of the Nyon display... 😊

Navigation loses its luster as Google maps gives you the cycling option so it can keep you away from traffic and on the bike trails. Maybe you can down load those maps?
I’m with you hear. Google bike routes are really good here. You can create routes and import them. It might seem like a lot of work. You just need to create a GPX and import it. Below is a link for a site you can use. mapstogpx.com
I too have a Superdelite with Kiox. I could not upgrade to Nyon at the time of buying the Superdelite so I've tinkered with Kiox screen settings to have just one or 2 tiles per separate screens - this means I have bigger text sizes - easier to read! Wondering if you have you learnt anywhere that if you choose to have just one item displayed on a Nyon screen does the Nyon font size increase to be a lot larger than the Kiox? This would be the only reason for my upgrade.

The Nyon looks very nice but owning a Kiox on my R&M SC2, I was wondering if this new device has an embedded GPS chip or does it still use the Smartphone for localisation/navigation. If it is still the case (like for the Kiox), for me it is a design mistake. Best regards.
Another comment when comparing to the Kiox, Bosch states that the Nyon is a bit less protected against water projections than the Kiox. One can see that on a table that compares all screen models, in the Bosch ebike public website. Strange...
@Bernd Hofmann does this mean if you misplace (leave at a cafe, falls out of bag, etc) (my kiox used to fall off all the time and I would have to look everywhere to find it) can you look on phone/computer and find where it is?
@@tguida58 An Apple Watch has Bluetooth LE but it doesn't allow the direct connection. You can can only connect through the phone and this doesn't work with the Nyon or Kiox.

I think if you can use the website it should be worth it as I think you should have access to all the same info and settings and you can connect the display to wifi to sync. I think at least

Very expensive for something that does not even offer voice turn by turn navigation that my phone offers when using Komoot or Ride with GPS, or Google maps, sent to the speaker in my helmet via Bluetooth.
As I know they first planned to enable phone charging and already mentioned it to dealers at the first presentation of the Nyon this year. But there might be some technical issues, the old Nyon and Intuvia at least give you 0,5 A to hold your battery level while navigation and the Kiox offers 1A.
Your information is wrong. Europeans almost exclusively use 24h clock everywhere. except maybe some obscure shit parts of England but who needs those anyway :D:D:D
