SIR,I HAVE HAD THESE FOR A FEW YEARS AND AS A VISION IMPAIRED PERSON,WHEN I GO OUT,I HAVE TO USE MY LEFT HAND TO HOLD MY GUIDE DOGS HANDLE AND LEASE, I FIND THAT THESE ARE NO PROBLEMS AS THEY DO CONNECT REALLY EASIER AND I CANNOT KEEP THE IPHONE IN MY HANDS AND HELP ME TO LISTEN TO MY MUSIC. AS A LOT OF PEOPLEDO NOT EVEN GIVE US A THOUGHT,BOSE HAS.WE GET AN AWFUL LOT OF SUNSHINE DOWN HERE AND YOU NEED PROTECTION FROM THE SUN EVERYTIE YOU GO OUT,EVEN IN WINTER. SHAME SIGHTED PEOPLE DO NOT GIVE MUCH THOUGHT TO US . I LOVE MY BOSE ALTOS,THANKS VERY MUCH
These aren’t designed with accessibility in mind, however I see your point. Having your ears still able to hear sound is a big benefit to you in this particular case.
i have two pairs. Getting a third! I use one pair at home with the lenses removed so i can hear my computer or phone, not bother anyone else, and still hear when someone in the house is saying something. they aren't high end speakers, i never expected that. But they put music in the background of my life when I am wearing them. Love them for the phone!!
I'm downsizing. Not in house size, but land size. It has a HORRID HOA (imho I h$te all HOA's. "No music can be heard by neighbors or in public areas? WTFUDGE?? So I like my Headphones, but for relaxing with an audio book? That's my dream!
I love them! When you walk a dog, you want to be aware of your surroundings and yet maybe some music around without annoying the environment. And you can also take the calls. Love, love, love them! Having said that, I think this should have targeted a very specific audience, e.g. golf players, dog owners, people who love hiking etc. Great review, nice presentation, subscribed.
Had mine for two years now and still obsessed, needed a rope glasses holder because I got the wrong size and they do slip on my ears down my nose a bit without it.
@@itsmeysh6397 I thought I had the altos but I have the Rondo’s. They are great, run a little small wish I went with M/L they rub a little after wearing for a few hours. That was my mistake though.
At $200, it's a no go, they're currently $179, still a no go. I just tried a demo version of these today and thought they were pretty cool. Even a semi noisy store I heard the music fine. But $180 is too high for these still. When/if they get to $100 maybe I'll go for them.
Even that is a ridiculous price point. Before Luxottica purchased Ray-Ban they could be had for under $75 with polarized lenses. I personally don't mind paying plenty of money for a product that's worth it but Bose isn't the only player in the Bluetooth wayfarer game.
Audio only augmented reality....meh...nothing new... I was air guitaring in my bedroom, playing various metal tunes to packed arenas, back in the '80's ;) Closing sentiments, yes, my thoughts exactly - "What a shame"
I tried some on today a they fit perfectly and were extremely comfortable for me. I’m not interested in listening to music. Mainly, I want to make phone calls using the Apple Watch without holding my wrist up to my face. I have AirPods but I hesitate taking them in the car because they inevitably fall out and wind up underneath the seats. I don’t want to loose my AirPods so I keep them at home, however, I never leave the house without sunglasses and the fact that these are rechargeable means I’ll have a reason to put them on the charger when I return home (no more wondering where I left my sunglasses). I’d also like to try listening to podcasts on them. Might not be for everyone but my curiosity is definitely peaked. I might just have to get a pair. I also liked the way they looked.
Stu’s Reviews it is unfortunate that the glasses won’t evolve for now but It is a pretty convenient device to have. The only problem I have with these are the battery life. I wish it had a bit more. Oh and a bit more bass hehe
Loved the review. I can see a lot of improvement in editing and quality lately which I appreciate. You always had what it takes but this channel is turning out just beautiful. Happy subscriber, love your work, watch everything you post and never ever got bored. Congrats.
Smashing review Stu. Thou i like something that dont always fit into the Ear buds-Ear phones bracket i wont be buying those . Love to see you reviewing and hearing your thoughts on the Bose SoundWear Companion Speaker(neck speaker).
I got mine brand new sealed for $80 from ebay and they are my favorite headphones ever and the stock lenses aren't too dark so I can wear them while welding or indoors and they are amazing for car rides and bicycle rides and motorcycle rides. they sound amazing and with the extremely low base its great for me cause I have a sensory issue making it hard for me when I hear heavy base. My other favorite audio device are my skullcandy crusher 360 and while I love those I find myself using the bose almost everyday.
I wore these out but had them off cause i was spending quality time with my kiddo! 😎. I do enjoy them while walking my bitchouns, enjoys some beats! I love my regular bose head phones as well!
Just my 2 cent. I love my pair. Use them while biking and hiking. I can still have a conversation while listening to music. The bose company is known for speakers, i dont think i would trust them to do anything more. But I would love to hear what your comparing this against.
I used to use Oakley Thumps for this, designed for activities like hikingskiing etc. The hook for me was I got prescription lenses that fit these frames
Spot on Stan, I just bought a pair last week, and I love them. I won't go in detail but there's a safety factor as I can walk in the city and still hear/feel my surroundings, and answer phone calls without picking up phone.
It has all the flaws you point out BUT for cycling it’s pretty much the best device there is (satisfying sound without blocking street noises) and pretty darn useful for driving when your car doesn’t have bluetooth (google map straight to you ears without being annoying to the passengers is nice) Bottom line : if you are not in any of these situations… this is not worth it at all (also mine broke after 6 month -replaced for free, but still- so it’s rather fragile).
@@StusReviewsUK cycling is pretty much the only sport you can do with that… even if the glasses sit well on my shape of face… it’d very likely go flying around if I were to try running (or worse, playing football) with these Quite a missed opportunity… a great idea to make a "end-of-life" video review like this :)
I was able to get pair for £30 , was going to reglaze to real specs, now I'm not sure, thought that they would be hand to listen to music in work without anyone knowing.
You should have use the Phone mode. Pretty good mic and able to handle phone call with the glasses only. Nice feeling walking in street and doing your phone calls at the same time without things in your ears.
Yeah, Bose has horrible connection issues. I got some NC700's from my jobs lost and found (called dibs they were there for 3 weeks), and I was getting so mad with the connection. Now, I'm so curious with these. I use my NC700's at work all day. Is the battery life well, that's my question. NC700's last my 10-12 hour shifts, I have them constantly at full volume, and full sound deadening. They'll still have like 10 hours of juice left. Bose>Beats
Good review. Glasses look good on you. I would probably chuck said person through window as well. The glasses are pretty noisy. Would I buy them for £179.95? No!
If it had a Display or even both eyes as Display these things would have been amazing if implemented nicely, but we can only dream of such things at this moment :D
Stu gutted your off for a couple of weeks now, I've not been able to join the quiz the last couple of weeks due to other commitments, I should have blown them out, whens the next scotch and quiz night?
Thank you for saving me from spending the money and an unpleasant experience! They’d probably fit my smaller head well enough but subpar sound, being uncomfortable plus annoying other people are definitely deal breakers! It’s too bad these are not worth buying, because you can buy them refurbished on eBay from Bose for only $99 right now. Now I know why! 🤣
They stop working after a short time. Wont charge. Bose wont replace them, if you cant produce a receipt (which is a problem if they were received as a gift...which mine were)… absolute waste of money.
Should’ve got a smaller size I love mine plus I can take phone calls as well and there coming out with a second version but you didn’t hear it from me stay tune🤫
Well this video aged pretty poorly, these are still incredibly common in just about any consumer electronics store, they are well reviewed and well liked by people who buy them for the right reasons, price is respectable for the quality/brand name. And AR? Who wanted AR? Why would the lack of AR in headphone sunglasses hybrids be a negative?
‘They are well reviewed’. Except they aren’t. Because I think they are bloody awful, and the lack of continued support of their original intended functions from Bose is a good indicator of this. Most of the ‘positive’ reviews are either from people who have been paid/received the item for free in exchange for positive words or alternatively from people who’ve paid the extortionate price, and want to shout into the void about ‘how good they are’ in an attempt to make themselves feel better for buying what I would consider a sub-par audio product from an otherwise great speaker company.
Bought a pair to try out, I ride motorcycle and rather than get some high priced bluetooth helmet, I figured I would give these a try, since my normal glasses fit with my helmet I would try these. sadly they don't fit in the helmet. They sound pretty good though. They paired to my android with no issue at all, so your innitial pairing issues may have been related to your phone? I also experience no white noise issues with mine. I have a month to decide weather or not I'll keep them due to best buy's generous return policy, but at the same time, I'm not entirely sure if I will or not. They fit my head, so that's a plus, if I do decide to keep them, I'll be getting new lenses for my prescription, so that's another $200ish spent on them if I do keep them. I can function just fine without my actual glasses for most things aside from reading, so I'll keep using them for a week or so and see how I feel at the end, I mainly needed something I can wear while riding though, so the fact that they do not fit under my main helmet sucks. They do fit with my MX helmet, but I don't really want to always wear that helmet while riding lol. I wasn't looking for super awesome headphone replacement, and I didn't know they were meant to be some kind of 'AR' device, I just looked at them as a pair of fancy speaker sunglasses.
Cool story bro; www.theverge.com/2020/6/16/21293372/bose-augmented-reality-frames-glasses-over Oh and from the horses mouth; developer.bose.com/bose-ar-closure-faq Now who’s the liar? Shut the door on your way out.
Sadly, this is the first video when you just type in ‘Bose Sunglasses Alto’ - my husband just wanted to find out a bit more about what they did (he’s not interested in AR, but liked the idea of sunglasses with speakers in them). He didn’t want a review, he was just looking for a product outline. He now doesn’t even want to open the packaging based on the negativity of this video. Maybe RU-vid should distinguish more between personal reviews and product descriptions/outlines - thanks for ruining a perfectly good present!
This is a new one. A complaint that a reviewer gives an honest and detailed appraisal of a product because it shows the negative aspects of something people might want to buy 😂
Vintage Bose. Manufacture a product and market it to music lovers then renege on or don’t deliver promised functionality. They have a long track record of doing things like this. E.g. SoundTouch/AirPlay. Promised as “coming soon” in 2017....finally delivered in late 2019!! I’ve stopped buying bricks from this company.
