I have heard the 650. It was very immersive with music and very good with movies. I have a 7.2 Klipsch system with heresys in front and the 650 impressed me. The simplicity was the amazing.
Azmi Amin I don’t know if it was because the way they set up the demonstrations. 🤔 but the movie and music sounds just fine. There wasn’t really enough weaknesses to bash it. The price was a lot though.
I think sound is a subjective thing. Someone likes and someone doesn't. I'm completely fine with paper cones. Highs and lows are not a must for me either. It's all about the final result. Would like to try some Bose if the price is lower. Ps: All audiophile products are overpriced comparing to the material cost and production cost.
I feel the same way. I worked for bose for a while and they get a lot of hate. And I understand where some of the hate comes from. It’s kinda like the guy who criticizes the guy who buys the new sports car who himself he prides himself on building it. “Built not bought”. I think it’s silly. Yes, the bose customer may very well be a snob, or a doctor, who just wants a simple setup that sounds awesome. Definitely some truth to that. But people hate so much and it’s ridiculous because at the end of the day it’s an amazing sounding system and doesn’t clutter the house with huge towers. I owned the v30 for many years and it was awesome. Im looking at surround systems now and debating things. Not sure really what to get yet.
I would personally never go with a Bose system. I could see someone like my dad purchasing one because he is familiar with the name and is not that into audio but does want something sleek and easy to use. I would still try to talk him out of it and put something together myself for him
Since Bose has closed all their stores in the US it will be difficult to compare these models & new systems down the road. Good luck trying to find a retailer who has both models and sets them up properly. Luckily we have ABT here. Everybody stay safe. Hopefully we get through this Covid 19 crisis soon.
I have a Bose Lifestyle 28 system that is now 21 years old. I have been impressed by the quality of sound which to my aging ear remains perfect. Unfortunately the DVD/CD aspect has become unreliable but worse still irreparable due to Bose no longer having the parts to repair it. I am looking to replace with the 650 or 600 system to play 5.1 sound that will then be linked to a suitably compatible DVD unit. Yes I am old and still play these antiquated funny shiny round things. Streaming has yet to enter the vocabulary of either my wife or me. The video clip comparing the two systems has been invaluable. I love the style and size of the discreet speakers but I now understand I will not need the 650 system with its 360 degree enhanced sound delivery because my room is that one as described, that is, it that has curtains, carpets and furniture everywhere. My aging ears will not need the enhanced system. I am sure my bank balance at the end of the purchase month will also be better appreciated by my wife!
Just finished watching your video, there are a few things you got incorrect. I have the LS 650 and I love it! The glass on the receiver, subwoofer and speaker stands are sleek elegant and to me that’s worth it and the WAF is definitely a priority. First, it’s called ADAPTIQ. second, you can adjust the treble, surrounds, center and bass. The LS 600 looks identical to the Cinemate 520, only difference is the sub and console. Also the center speaker is ported and has more speakers than the 600. You can connect 2 subwoofers wirelessly as well. Bose isn’t for everyone and that’s understandable but people don’t seem to grasp that not everyone wants huge speakers and an abundance of components and wires all over the place, not everyone is an audiophile as well. Every situation is different. You have to have it in your home to actually review and judge it, the store doesn’t do it justice P.S. who In their right mind would send you their LS 650 to borrow and review 🤣 You can always buy it from Best Buy, review it and return!

The 600 has Jewel cube speakers which are 2.5” drivers. The 650 has 1.5” drivers opposing each other. They are Not the same drivers. The Jewel cube drivers won’t even fit in the Omni Jewel housing-obviously. Also the 600 & 650 consoles are not interchangeable. Firmware, EQ, and outputs. The 600 is configured from the factory to operate all front speakers from the front jack on the back of the console. If you take a look the console has another front speaker jack specifically for the Omni Jewels. The front main jack on a 650 is just for the. center channel. The 600 uses the same jack for left center and right. I have tested this myself and confirm a 650 console will not operate as a 600. Also little known fact the 650 Center channel also has L & R drivers to spread out the sound and midrange.
Uh. The 600 uses the 2 inch drivers, one points at you one points away " direct reflecting. The 650 uses 1.5 inch drivers the same as the soundlink mini uses. There is a big difference in EQ profiles. The center speaker on the 650 uses 4 1.5 inch and a 1 inch dome tweeter
Oh just for the info. Since I have the Bose Lifestyle 650. I’ve done a frequency sweep test and my guess is that the satellite goes down around 270hz and the sub takes over around there and play down around 25hz then is quiet... With dual subwoofer setup and put one either left and right it reduce localisation
Bro. Don’t forget the difference is 650 centre channel is different compare to 600. 650 have 5 speakers (4 midbass driver and 1 tweeter) while 600 have 2 full range Drivers. Oh the 650 also have a ported centre channel
FYI, Just connected a 650 via EARC to a Sony. The sound quality increased drastically vs a older top of the line Samsung with ARC. The reason is, audio is passed through the TV and returns to the console. Obviously there was loss or compression through the Samsung. I won’t buy a Samsung right now because they don’t support EARC. Update: after trying out a plethora of TV’s I settled on the Samsung Q80R. It turned out to be the best bang for the buck and preferred it over the flagship model. It works very well with the Bose system without issues. No ERAC. Turned out not to be a deal breaker for me.
Don’t expect Atmos etc. from Bose it’s not in their marketing profile. And many prefer 5.1 surround anyway. PersonallyI could careless for additional formats requiring more speakers.
Hi, unfortunately you're not telling the truth about satellite speakers. 600 are do not go directly at the listener, but have a rotated drive inside. 650 have completely different drivers, they have nothing to do with 600, they are otherwise large, differently designed, etc.
Paper cones have are no better or worse than other materials. Note: there is a lot of snake oil for sale. According to Bose the 600 & 650 consoles are not interchangeable. Could be firmware. Also the drivers in the 600 are angled and do not face straight ahead. They are the same exact Jewel cubes used in the 535 series III. Bose also has stated there is no discernable difference between the 535 & 600. (I suspect the newer Bass Module reaches deeper. The 650 has smaller drivers in the Satellites which oppose each other through creating the 360 degree sound dispersion. But most people mount them to the wall. And the center channel for the 650 has propietary drivers not used in other models. And alot more of them.
Azmi Amin Similar, maybe. Bose claims they were designed or the 650. The fact is if you are going to review a product get the facts straight. This review is so full of holes. The 600 does not use the same drivers as the 650, the Bass unit is not sealed, the consoles are not identical-speaker connections-software. The EQ is not the same for the 600 & 650. The eq is tailored for the specific model. The Bose 300 subwoofer is a huge improvement over previous models with the Quiet Port technology. This greatly helps with the high crossover necessary for the tiny satellites.
Ron Edwards Errr nope. If dual sub setup then yes no localised. But single sub can really be localised if not properly placed. I played around a tons of the sub placement, dual sub just make things much better.
I have the Focal Xs 2.1 for my Pc and it is also uses paper cone for the sub and woofers. And it cost $600. Still don’t get it why people cry over the paper Drivers...
People just take someone's word that paper is a bad cheap material to use for speakers. They just parrot online comments, have no ideal what they are talking about. Are not a engineer. Total argument from ignorance. Some of the best speakers ever made have paper cones drivers.😯

I had Bose and I got rid of them. I just recently got the 3070 on your recommendation. I thought the Marantz you got did sound warmer but I have bright sounding speakers. Plus I got the 3070 new for 400 dollars more at a store selling them in Virginia. I almost got the Marantz also but I got a flagship receiver for 900 dollars less. As for Bose I thought the sound quality were not as good and the energy speaker I have cost less and out perform them.
those omnijewel speakers does sound way better than the regular front firing's, u def hear more things that u didnt hear before with regular front firing's but i have a different set up cuz im using the bose 700 sound bar with the 700 bass module i had the regular front firing as rears but juss switched to the omnijewel speakers an its way better, its an atmos feeling added bose does their own atmos through their hardware imo
Many don't what is call good sound ......am a dj I have big speaker and subwoofer but I don't use this at home .......it too noisy .....bose is good speaker for home use .......stop running if u don't have one......great bose
If you're looking for a decent system for cheap. Buy an older system for like 200-300 bucks. You could probably find one on OfferUp or eBay. The cube speakers are slightly uglier but the sound is pretty much the same as the newer model.
Gabe Gabe I know, owned both. Sold the 535 & returned the 600. The 600 sounds a lot better than the 535 because of the better console and the bass module. They 650 sounds better than any of the Lifestyle systems to date. Just don’t listen to miss I formation online. They have the driver size wrong on Omni Jewel speakers also. The Omni Jewels have 1.5” drivers. So Bose must be incredible engineers if the can fit 2.5” drivers in a speaker that can only house a 1.5” driver😳
$4000 really. I would never ever ever :D I'm really happy with system. Imean i payed around the same price for my svs ultra system that is 7.2.2. That's not included receiver though. For the record svs gives 5yrs warranty aswell :D
Have you tried their Soundtouch 700 soundbar? Seems to me that the 700 is better than the 650 or 600 as it uses 4 4 inch midbass driver and 1 centre tweeter and still uses the quietport technology. Edited: Oh and uses phaseGuide technology to bounce off the sound.
I've gotten to hear it and I'm absolutely impressed with the sound quality. As far taste surround sound effects I haven't gotten to hear how it does with that yet
🤦🏻♂️how can you compare a soundbar to 5.1? You can up the rear surrounds through the soundtouch app. The soundtouch is just a soundtouch 300 just without Alexa built it. Same sub and rears.
Carlos Muñoz Well if you think about it look at the price difference between 650 and SoundTouch. I have the 650 and I feel that the soundbar is much better since it uses 4 inch driver compare to tiny 1.5 inch driver...
Kpaceguy For movies I found the 650 is better. The 650 can sound thin in some environments if you have bare floors and no curtains. The 650 is better for carpeted rooms/curtains. The surround sound is superior for movies. The problem I had with the 600 is the transient detail on the 600. Even the sales guy heard the same thing. SSS sounds weird on the 600. A very important fact is people forget about transient response. And most don’t even know what it is. If you are mainly using the system for music and your room is bare bones I would go with the 600. And don’t forget to use the Direct mode for music. If you mostly use the system for movies the 650. It will be interesting to see the evolution of the next Lifestyle system. I can tell you before Bose closed the outlets down. The Mall of America location told me they only sold 1 600 in the past 6 months. Everyone was buying the 650. And I read Bose couldn’t manufacture them fast enough they were selling so well.
Bose has no low or high frequencies it's just a dull sound it should not be for home theater. Bose is only for people who don't know the difference between good sound and bad sound cause everyone on the streets only knows bose and nothing else.

Ok well you got klipsch, svs, martin logan, Bowers & Wilkins, definitive technology, fluance, ohm walsh, polk audio it is all about listening not hearing, and it doesn't matter where it's made its how it's made you must listen to the sound of all speaker types to get the feel. It is so easy for people to hear sound coming from a speaker and say that sounds really good but does it, you have to listen. You choose what is best for your ears. Bose is just all same with its one dimensional sound that is my personal reason why I don't like them.
Ron Edwards I grew up listening to bose I don't care about the 650s their technology is not clever. I have listen to alot of different speakers that actually put out sound.
@@Kpaceguy ah ok, funny did not write anything reprehensible. Quick summary: in comparison to my old larger satellite systems, I'm really surprised by the integration of sub and speakers. I'm not a leech but also no expert and hopefully you have the opportunity sometime to test a bose system at home because you can certainly even better judge the whole.
@@Kpaceguy the 650 for 4k+ is defently too much. I first bought the 650(blackfriday for 3.5k but sadly the omnijewel don t sound good with music its a bit too bright and the 360degrees sound produce a hall. Its sound like virtual surround what is a bit strange for me. So i sold it and buy the 600 for 2.8k. Its defently much. But i don t find alternative. 2.8k is ok for the system but 2-2.5k match more. Is just my opinion
