Interesting way to do a review - I like it. For those of you who feel that the Bose system "sounds better"; drag the RU-vid timing slider to the 4 min. mark and listen to the cymbals between, say, 4 minutes in and 4:30 minutes in. The single-speaker Bose buries the highs into a staticy audio-mush... And that's lame... [This may have been done by the tester, but] one could enhance the technical accuracy of the evaluation by using test tones to equalize the output to a specific decibel level, as opposed to offering evaluations at "60%" or "100%" volume - as the efficiency of these two devices will obviously be different. I understand the the UE also sports a tone control via App., which I don't believe the Bose offers. Correct me if I'm wrong. Nice work overall. Tnx. Andrew
Agree, the Bose wins on bass and 360 sound (which is odd because technically the MB has 2 speakers vs the Bose is one with a sound diffuser), but on highs the MB is better.
Nice comparison like always ! In my place Revolve+ costs around 150 dollars more than Mega boom. Regarding sound comparison is clear who is the winner, Revolve+ has a much fuller sound and more defined and a touch louder I would say, also with true 360 sound, I test them summary both in the store. Is hard to make a 100% opinion of what you want from a speaker after video reviews, even if are with good sound recording. These 2 speakers are not for the same kind of listeners, Revolve + being most for indoor, to enjoy a good sound quality on the sofa with a nice glass of brandy, while Mega boom is more appropriate for outdoor where the finest sound details are lost in the background noise, without any carry that somebody will drop a glass of beer on the speaker.
I have a megaboom and a Bose revolve, the little one, not the plus type. I think this explanation is the better. And the Bose is water resistent, not water proof like the megaboom is, but its ok for repsctive inside and outside listenings. Great video and great comment.
Bose does sound better at lower volume! I was thinking about the Megaboom but now will take a look at Bose. But at fraction of a price of Bose speaker, I might still go with the Megaboom. Nice way to review man, listening is like 1000 words in this case.
Nice review. I went to best buy to get the revolve plus but after comparing it with the megablast i bought the megablast. The first reason is that the megablast has cleaner mid and high sounds. Althougth the revolve is better at lower sound , the megablast low sound is sufficient and decent. Second, the voice in the revolve sounds like if somebody is talking in a bucket. Third, the appearance. The megablast has better look and it feels expensive and soft at touch. Fourth the megablast has more features such alexa. In conclusion, I am very happy with the megablast because the sound is clear, the appearance and the look is very good. It worth sacrificing the extra bass in the revolve plus. Excuse me for grammar errors.
That is a good observation. And since 90% of the time we listen at less than 50 or 40% at home, pool , or garage I guess the bose makes sense. So the decision lies on the projected use of the divice!
Why is everyone always hating on ue? I compared several speakers in person and found that for example the ue megaboom is way better than the jbl charge 3 and even compared to the Xtreme I would prefer the megaboom because ue accomplished to put almost as great sound in a smaller body.(If you don't care about the extra bass on the Xtreme). Would be nice to hear an explanation from one of the speaker pros out there.
The thing is, in every video I find the ue speakers worse than what it's compared to, but when I heard them in person in the store I actually found the highs and mids way better and even the bass was pretty nice. Ue speakers are the only ones that always sound crappy on youtube.
Jakob I've also heard them in real life, compared to bose, JBL, and even Altec Lansing. The only one that impressed me at all was the wonderboom. Nothing else sounded anywhere close to HiFi.
I think most speakers suffer at 100% volume. I like the fact you play at different volume levels, but perhaps 90% would be a better volume to test at on the high end? Or even better, test the max volume a speaker does before distortion?
I agree a 90% would have been nice. Maybe not as a replacement for max though. Personally I've found every bluetooth speakers sound quality falls off at 100% volume, it's to be expected. Great video though!
Pero kapag sa outdoor at maraming puno, like beach i think bose will stand out po. Dahil mas makalansing ang tweeter po ni bose. Ang ending kung may pera ka pambili doon kana sa mas "Sikat" na brand.
I gotta say this guys. Did you know that with a few small adjustments to the Free EQ on the Free app that UE makes available. It can cater to a whole range of you sound snobs.
With its great sound the UE is a fantastic speaker.....With the added security of being waterproof and virtually indestructable it is the best option around. Dropped mine a ton and still lives. Great battery life as well ... lasts all day at 60 -70 % volume
i don't know what it is bout these u tube videos but they always make bose speakers not sound that good. i have this speaker and it is the shit. i compared them myself in best buy with the UE and the beats pill plus and the jbl pulse. revolve + was the best one. it sounds bad ass for its size. i love it. jbl extreme is louder and has real good bass but its harder 2 carry around cause it's so big and heavy. this is definitely the best portable speaker.
Eric Martinez I agree with you, you should not base on video soundtest alone, when choosing a speaker It is really important to go in store heard it in person, right on the spot you can decide really fast what's for you and what not.
At live listening Bose Revolve is much better and refined then these other speakers. I have and kept a bose revolve, the little one, I had at the same time this ue model, shown in this video, its much better, I had a JBL Charge 3 and a Flip 4, and also sold them keeping the this revolve. And after I boght a Harman Kardon Aura 2, wich considering better than the little Revolve, but the Aura is much bigger and wall plugged, althought they had similar price, but then again, the revolve is very portable, wich is remarkeble.
At live listening I heard and I can tell the Bose Revolve, the little one, not the plus model, is better than this exact UE model of this video, and also better than JBL Charge 3 and the Flip 4, all considering the sound quality, even it (the Revolve) being mono, and all the others stereos. It sounds much more refined, precise, clean and clair. It just isn't better than the Harman Kardon Aura 2, but this is bigger (and wall plugged) than the little Revolve . I had all these speakers, and I still have the Bose Revolve and the Harman Aura 2, and happily sold all the others. And for last, I tested the Aura 2 and the JBL Xtreme at the local shop over here; I suppose it was the model 2, wich is the standart by this moment, and the Aura 2 is clearly better than the Xtreme 2, considering they have similar size. Actually, this UE model sounded to me poor and cheap sound, the Charge 3 good, the Flip 4 very good, the Revolve excellent and the Aura 2 awesome, great sounding in quality. I recomend you guys view the DLX videos and also check alive in your local stores, you being modest and average audiophiles like myself.
Hi, I'm looking at 3 speakers I want to upgrade my jbl charge 4, it has problems. I was looking at the Sony xb41 or the Sony xb33 or the ue megablast, I want something louder than the charge 4 and with good sound, thanks.
I think in some ways the Bose sounds better and at other times the UE sounds better but the UE is better value for money overall..thanks for your time!
To my ears (not audiophile, but very experienced and discriminating), the UE comes to life at higher volumes, where the Revolve has a metallic resonance which intrudes in the upper mid range. I ended up buying an Anker Soundcore Flare Plus because at least that is great value, while sounding possibly better than either of these two.
They are obviously not in the same pricebracket since the ue is way cheaper.. also these speakers are targeted at different audiences. That said. I think Bose takes the low-mid section and the high frequenties are better on the megaboom. Also, can be just me but the Bose sounds a little compressed?
I like the way the Bose sounds better, but I just dont like the look of the speaker. I know this is just an aesthetic issue and something I can easily get over. The price is another matter altogether, $299 is a lot of money for a small speaker.
I am also deciding. The way I am looking at this is. We listen to music at 50% volume most of the time around the house and rarely use it for parties right? The best sound at lower volume is bose. The price is higher I agree, but this is supposed to last 5 to 6 years so $300÷ 6 years =$50 to listin to great sounds as opposed to $15 on the UE. Now if you are only getting it for loud listing the the UE I guess. Abs:$50 equals to one night of drinking out at bar with friends (for guys) and one night of eating at a restaurant with the girlfriends (for woman). Now the the decision is yours. Good luck!
@@jdapoet3138 i meant megaboom 3 is 120 $ :) but revolve + is 240, twice more expensive. I would buy revolve + coz sounds better,but the price.. i think i'll get jbl charge 4 :D
Throw the Bose in a pool and the sound will drown right along with the product. Throw UEMB in the pool and it will float right along with it's sound lol
just stand the bose revolve in a room and play music and than stand the ue against him as well and everybody wants to throw the megabalst against the wall until it ends to sound so bad compared to the bose - LOL
what i dont like rom BOOM 3 is i cant repeat my last song. I am in shower and that 3 min o my favorite song is not enoght and i want to listen it again so what can i do? go take mobil and control the app in shower? umm nop Bose make it better.
@@emilstahle6531 It is, its an amazing speaker for real but some of its competitors have better sound quality. But its loud, bass is not that good on the little ue boom series if your getting them.
The megaboom sound crap. It no upper bass at all. However the Bose blows the megaboom out of the water easily. The megaboom can.t compare to the Bose. The Bose revolve plus sound much better with very good strong deep bass then the megaboom UE
The megaboom sound cheap terrible bad sound quality no bass at all. The bose revolve plus wins hand down. The sound quality sound much more cleaner and bass much more puncher and deep soild bass.
@@abelcollantes7174 for the moment I will continue to listen music from normal hi-fi or compact hi-fi. I understand the portability of these devices, but at the end the sound quality is not satisfactory at all.
What I have to say to you is that it's so frustrating when EVERY ONE of you reviewers plays the most processed overloaded mess of sound to test. And if you don't know what that junk is supposed to sound like then how can it be evaluated? Wouldn't it be better to test REAL MUSIC, not today's CRAP? Just floors me! Supposedly a sound test. No brains.
