I was at bestbuy and was hypnotized by how smooth, warm and rich the sound was on Bose. The clarity is so nice and it’s such a pleasure to listen to. It’s a great speaker and I think it’s at the top right now within its size/price range.

Having two running in stereo is great. Running EQ through Spotify for me levels things out just fine. And like you , I'm not really a Bose fanboy but I got my first one at a discount and decided having two for on the go solid stereo was for me.

... Have wanted a BT speaker for years. When I was interested in the UE Boom I never saw the Bose. Finally I said, enough is enough, I'm buying one today!! (about a week ago) Listened to what Best Buy had including the UE and the Bose Flex sounded better and was less expensive. Very happy with it. NOW, I am looking at reviews to see if others are as pleased as I am. Thanks for the review. .

I bought the blue one. Nice replacement of my old Micro. I have no complaints about BT 4.2. Who’s going to listen such a portable speaker from distance above 10m? Makes no sense. It’s not JBL Boombox. And there’s an EQ in every smartphone, so no need for extra EQ.

I think the only thing I would really like for this is the Multi pairing! I’m in no rush and this is really exciting to see that Bose is coming out with good stuff again. I feel like for a while their speakers felt a little stale to me personally. I thought their revolve speakers were overpriced and I actually really dislike the cylindrical design everyone was doing. If I’m listening to it by myself I don’t want a bunch of power wasted to push sound out of the back when my ears aren’t back there lol. Hopefully in a few years they can update it to include the better BT! Not a dealbreaker at all, but I am comfortable waiting.

Thank you again, Jonathan for another informative review. I received a Bose Sloundlink Flex for Christmas from one of my clients as a thank you for my work for them last year. I will preface this by saying I do have a Bose ecosystem in my home including the Bose Soundtouch Speakers in my home office/guest room. I am a consultant and trainer for end users and their tech, so I think it is important that the technology being used, matches the needs of the user and their environment. That having been said, I am loving this little speaker! I have several portable speakers that I have used over the years for both work ( portable presentations) and for pleasure (sitting out back on the patio). This is smaller than my JBL Charge 3 (which has been my favorite to take on the family beach vacation or to the vineyards). The smaller size doesn't compromise on the sound that my family and I enjoy during the firepit parties or sitting by the friend's pool (and I don't worry about it sinking in the pool, should it fall in the water. This is my second Bose portable speaker (I own a Soundwear Compainion speaker), but this is one that everyone will enjoy. I haven't tested the speakerphone call quality yet, but so far it does what I like and want from a portable speaker incredibly well. I may opt to purchase a second one (since this was a gift ) for the party mode effect for this year's upcoming vacation with my family. It is currently connected to my laptop as I write this response as I play some instrumental jazz here in my home office. I thoroughly enjoy your channel and reviews. Happy New Year to you. Looking forward to more of your content.

No EQ really hurts it in my opinion, noticed this was added to the Max. They have a feedback button in the app with a "missing equalizer" option, I suggest everyone do that and hopefully Bose will add it.

We are replacing our Gen 1 SoundLink which we absolutely loved. It just starts randomly shutting off now but hey, its gotta be pushing 15 years old now. We tried replacing it with the Revolve and then the Flex and while I agree that the Flex is a great sounding portable speaker, both the Revolve and the Flex suffered from connection issues -with our phones literally right beside the speaker. Wondering if I just got 2 bad units, or if this is normal? The sound would just drop while playing Spotify -the song would continue playing on the device, and when the connection resumed, it would just keep playing, but it was REALLY annoying. This happened with by my wife's and my iPhones and it would happen a LOT -in a 1 hour hot tub session, it would happen 5 or 6 times, consistently. Did we just get two bad eggs? Or is this an inherent problem? I really liked the Flex otherwise, but am not going to put up with that..... Give up and go Sonos? Or try a new Bose a third time?

Great review, thank you. I am so confused now!!! I am in the market for such a speaker, and this one was to be my choice, then after several reviews, I decided on the JBL Flip 6, now I'm undecided again, I hope my local store has them both on display so I can compare them. My main reason for the JBL, was the fact it had a tweeter, but as an old fogie who's top end hearing cuts off at about 3Khz I guess that's irrelevant anyway, so it's down to design and price.

I got this two days back after seeing many positive reviews over the internet. But for me, it lacks the sound clarity that I need!!! The instruments like guitar, piano, violin etc. do not sound good on these speakers!!! The instrument sound is very suppressed or muffled!!! The vocals sound clear and the bass has a punch, but tribble is missing significantly!!! My judgement is based on other devices like airpods, bose qc 35II and sonos beam that I have and since these are way superior devices, I might be feeling let down by the Bose Flex. I wish Bose provided an equalizer in the Bose connect app to tweak these to my liking.

I have a Bose Soundlink flex 35 mins away on the Amazon truck. This is after being gaffled by JBL not once, but twice. First JBL Flip stopped charging, popped and hissed its way to the grave in 3 mos. Contacted them irate and feeling swindled. Nothing tech support could do, but offer me a new speaker. Which they did eventually and which started popping and hissing in 2 mos this time. This would of course be right after I left a pandering review stating how great JBL was to at least address their technical failures by offering me a new and similar speaker, it was a Link20 This time. So, eff JBL, I eagerly await my Bose speaker and pray Bose hasn't gone to shite like JBL seems have. Of all the speakers I've had thru 50 years of listening to music the only ones that have stood the test of time and worth every cent are a pair of Bose Noise Canceling can-type headphones. I wear them every day to dialysis. I can't hear the machine, the nurses or other patients only what I want to hear. Oh please let the Soundlink Flex be of that same ilk and engineering.

When i out it aisde of the charge and flipped tue sound on both of them Charge has way and way more power. I see vidoes of 70vs 90 percent volume. But to me it was more like 50 vs 90, that much louder is the charge. The flex flat sound does sound eay be5er. But every phone app has eaz with that, i got the charge 5 sound way better. I mean the body is like 2-2,5 bigger in volume. Wish the bose had a bigfer volume. I do like the clean look. I dont like the "in your fCe" jbl look. @@soberanisfam1323 no, the 6 wasn't released when I wanted to purchase it so I bought the Flex instead. I have the flip5 which I had been using since the day of its release. I watched Flossy Carter's review of the 6 and he did a sound test of it against the 5 and in some instances the 5 was louder than the 6. The reviews of the 6 haven't been overwhelming positive so basically its just more of the same I guess. If you want to blast JBL is definitely the way to go but if you want quality of sound then Bose is definitely the way to go and I would advise not going above 70 percent volume because of distortion. For me it was the right decision to buy the Flex because I prefer quality over quantity. But it's too bad that you can't have both at the same time.

The Soundlink Flex appears considerably louder than my original SLMini and with a richer, slightly bass-heavy presentation, though the Mini does have (smaller) stereo drivers that offer limited but noticeable channel separation, as well as benefiting from placement near a wall or solid shelving unit for maximum bass response. m veering towards the Sonos One for a more crisp, spacious audio performance over WIFI, - in terms of portable listening, the SL-Flex seems a very worthy upgrade on the SLMini whenever mine eventually packs up. To all @Smarthomesounds, keep up the excellent work👍👍👍

Hi, I am considering to buy 2 for stereo but I saw a comment about latency especially when watch videos. I usually watch youtube videos, how is the stereo mode with youtube app? Is there any problem about latency? Thank you!

The Highestbrow product a person can own. Trust when I say any Marshall Speaker will please every single aspect of a portable bluetooth speaker you’re looking for. In my opinion a Marshall Willen as all that I ever needed or wanted. If you want or need more than just buy an actual stereo system

I bought one as a replacement for a Sonos Roam, which at my opinion is a piece of scrap in terms of connectivity. I would not recommend a sonos Roam as a portable bluetooth speaker. I am totally happy with my new choice.

I’ve bough this one becouse of other vd comparison from you. I bought it becouse of the decent and balanced warm bass at low mid volumes wich is the expected use of small portable speakers. They are not a party machine but a refined sq experience as background music diring labour without being a burden to carry on mu case and pocket if needed. Haven’t seen anything smaller sounding better but have seen bigger stuff sounding worse, so, that’s a high mark for me. It it’s too expensive, Tribit makes a similar clone…

I bought it to replace an stolen bose soundlink mini 1 and it is easyer to carry, charge, similar space (being slimmer is an advantage). A previous good experience made the jump to a replacement on the brand, despite having had a ton of other bt speakers i can clearly seeing this one as one of my preferred ones

I just bought a soundlink flex... Does the battery run down when it's off?

Can you use this without downloading the app? i.e. simply just as a “Bluetooth” speaker?!

Would love to hear about those having Aptx Support and the long distance connection*. ( *I had to return few speakers because of the Bluetooth range problem even though the quality is good)

Hi, thanks for the great review.. I was waiting for the microphone review in the video but i think it was not clear what I heard in the video.. Did Emily say she was able to hear it better than the phone speaker ? asking because i m considering Flex to use for my office calls.. thank you! Do you think the microphone is good for speaking hands free calls ?

Choosing a speaker is a personal preference for sound. One thing that would help me decide is to also speak t what kind of music the speaker does best..classical, jazz, or other. I am looking for a Bluetooth speaker but still haven't decided.

Bose is not for neophytes, the uninitiated... in short it is an acquired taste.

Had the Flex and returned it right away, not to my expectations, Soundcore Motion Plus is a better speaker.
