I own 2012 # 778 Kona blue. It only has 7021 miles on it to this day and in mint. I love it. Best track car I have ever owned. Will never sell it ever .... if you own a BOSS keep it :-)
My friend just got a 2013 School Bus Yellow BOSS 302. It's incredible! Great cars, but I have to say I think I'd take the GT350 over it after driving both
Gt350 is the better car for sure but it also costs significantly more money than a boss and isnt nearly as rare by comparisons sake because they made them several years more than the boss so to me the boss is the better one for the money. Not a better car but better for the money but its all in what you want out of it.
This car is amazing. I think though anybody who owns the s197 (did I get that right?) Body style is lucky. They all look nice and you can set them up how you like best. And all the engines for those years are great. I own a 12 v6 premium MCA edition and I love it. Revs to low 7ks and it is hella fun to drive.
I’m getting another one and it’s 2/2024. I really miss that car. I’ve owned many mustangs. 2019 GT 350 R. Many Shelby’s including the last 2022 Shelby GT 500. Plus a 2022 mach 1. But even with all those cars I truly miss the 2012/2013 boss 302. Especially at $34K with less then 10K miles.
Very cool man. I own a faily heavily modified Mach 1 and I feel like it was the Boss 302 of its time. Kind of overshadowed by the Terminator Cobra as the Boss was overshadowed by the GT500. I really like the Boss cars and have thought about selling my Mach 1 for a Boss. Although Im a bit too invested into my Mach with the IRS swap, T56 and Eaton blower from a Cobra haha
as the owner of a 2011 Mustang GT that has some great mods I always dream of upgrading to a Boss 302. My favorite being the in your face school bus yellow. I am almost done paying the loan on my 2011 so will see what happens.
I dont understand why you got rid of your boss you clearly loved the car. We all make mistakes and sell cars we wish we hadnt...but if i was you id go get another boss sooner rather than later. Why not own the car you clearly love and enjoy. Just my .02
I definitely love the independent rear suspension and flat plane crank of the current gen V8 Mustangs. I would definitely buy a new regular GT350. Edit: It would be cool if you could have discussions with more detail as far as engineering and from an engineer's perspective. Just a thought and suggestion I had...
Get rid of the Blowfish and get an MGW Race Spec. I use to shift my car at 8k and never got locked out after installing the Race Spec and I was on the stock clutch and stock clutch line.
yefferys50 are you talking about a short throw shifter? Sorry new to the mt82 as I am in the market for a boss, my dream car. Trying to figure out what I need to do for the tranny when I purchase it... thanks
Steven McIntyre really? Never considered purchasing a Boss 302. Was looking at Shelby GT500s. I just so happened to stumble upon a Boss 302. By no means would this have been a dream car. If anything, a 2013 Shelby GT500 or 15+ ZO6 was my dream car. Excluding a Dodge Viper or Saleen S7.
I’ve got a mustang gt with boss 302 heads and cams and forged pistons and other add ons when I got it since I’ve got it light weight flywheel single peace drive shaft upgraded clutch long tube headers and BMR rear suspension freakin live it! Next is boost!
Hey Eddie, I have a question on the choice of buying a car. Here are the choices that I got so far, CLA45, the new audiS3 2018, and the new golfR. If you were me, which one would you buy and why? Thx a lot.
Old comment but i was caught between 11-12 gt500 or 12-13 boss 302 because the prices are close but you can usually find a boss a few grand cheaper all things equal based on what ive seen and ive looked at a ton of for sale ads for both. The boss is lighter, more rare, handles better and is better balanced and is surprisingly close to the gt500 in a straight line (11-12 gt500s with 550 hp stock that is). Best ive seen from a boss stock on drag radials was 11.8 at 117 and best times ive seen for 11-12 gt500 with the svtpp and stock 373 gears was like 11.5 and even the trap wasnt much better like 118-119 is the best ive ever seen from a stock 11-12 gt500. These things are awesome and you can make em fast na or power adder unlike the gt500 and both can take up to around 800+ rwhp on stock engines but at that level id give the edge to the boss power handling wise simply because of the way they make power higher up in the rpm and have less torque than the gt500...that alone can really make a difference as far as the stock engine staying together at 800+. So with all that said imo i like the boss 302 over 11-12 gt500 for the money. I like it better than 13-14s too for the money since theyre significantly cheaper. Ive seen real nice ones in the 26-27 range with low miles (20-30k). That is the route im going next year when i finally add another stang to my stable for the first time since 2012 (ive owned 7 overall including an h/c/i 10.5:1 compression built 347 stroker 95 gt with a 5 speed and 4.10s, a fbo 03 mach 1 and a bolt on 97 cobra all manual). The boss is like the 2012 version of a mach 1...it is supposed to be the middle mustang v8 between the gt and gt500 just like the mach was between the gt and cobra (gt500 is essentially a modern cobra) but punches above its weight class and is surprisingly close to the top dog gt500 stock for stock just like the mach was but in this case its even better as it has a bottom end just as strong as the shelby unlike the mach 1. I loved my mach 1 and i know im going to love the boss.
Mostly a badge and sticker package upgrade over the ubiquitous GT 5.0. Get a GT350 instead. Unique motor, tremec transmission, and current-gen chassis.
KEVBGT you've never driver a stock GT 5.0 and stock boss 302 back to back if you think it's just a badge and sticker upgrade , although I agree on getting a gt350 over the boss , unless you don't have the budget.
"Badge and sticker" was admittedly an understatement. I know there were fairly extensive engine and suspension tweaks that set the boss apart from the GT. I've driven both, just not back to back and even then only around town. My biggest gripe remains the poor decision by Ford to stick the MT82 in it rather than the tremec that chevy puts even in its base V8 camaro.
Not really a badge and sticker. It also comes with 285s in the rear, better suspension, short shifter somewhat, higher numbered gauges etc. Even the block is different..even the exhausts sound different
Really its just as different from a normal gt as a gt350 is from a normal gt s550. It has a tremec trans while the boss has the same mt82 but outside of the trans the boss is just as different as a gt350 is. The entire engine is different, the bottom end, they can take significantly more hp when modded vs a gen 1 coyote. The gt350 is a better car because its newer and based on a better chassis with irs but the boss was amazing considering its built on a platform from 2005 that has a solid rear axle its pretty impressive. There is a significant difference in price between them like 10-15k or better so a boss is a lot cheaper than a gt350 and it is much more raw which some people prefer. Its also alot more unique as they made it 2 years vs the gt350 which has been made for like 5 model years now so there are far more of those on the road. Ive also heard more horror stories about gt350 engines vs the boss engines. Both cars are great but just because the gt350 is a better (and more expensive) car dont downplay the boss as if its just a regular gt with stripes.
I am having a hard time hearing you over that rumble. Do us a favor, if you're going to do an interview do it in the I8 or something as quiet. Besides that, I really enjoy your channel.
If you want boost, just buy a GT500- better internals, and it's got a proper tr6060, not that garbage MT82 that Ford cheaped out on. Sometimes China produces awesome stuff (like Eddie), but that getrag is just shit
Max, leave it N.A. love what you have done on your car. I am a original owner of a 2012 Boss in Performance White and live at Pleasant Lake Mi. just north of Jackson.( Not terribly far from you) Mine is mostly stock. These cars are a blast to drive as you already know.
What a joke of a car... If you had real money you would buy real cars, but I'm definitely glad people of all money brackets can enjoy speed like they deserve.
Sacred Geometry explain? It has an engine, four wheels, brakes, steers, and eats people. What is your definition of a real car, and what actual driving experience are you coming from?
