I thought this looked familiar.... I'm glad to see you fixed up the audio! This is a great demo of the RC-202, I think that the tabletop-format looper is best next to synths/keyboards with patch storage and this really shows it.
Have you tried MIDI out from the Roland? I have with a Roland JX-XI to the Boss rc202 and can't get them to talk, at all. I also haven't been able to export into a DAW. Videos on these would be appreciated. Thanks.
5:38 effects! Excellent tutorial. The best one I have seen. That slicer! That Filter! I am pairing with OP1 and OPZ. Stoked after watching this. Thanks for the job well done.
Gonna try that bass line on my Sub Phatty. It will sound killer.Too bad Roland Doesent make JP08 anymore I got late in the Boutiqe thing bought three boutiques ,but anyway there are other options too.Great job!
hello...just asked a guy a guitar center an he had no idea...but can the Rc-202 be setup with midi to start recording a loop at the same time the JP sequencer starts its 1st measure ?..or when it hits its 1st measure while repeating?
thank you for this demo, very good !!! I just bought a boss rc 505, my problem is when I record a loop. I put the track in read, after the loop I have a silence (or stop) and the reading resumes or loop restart (track 1), help please
Is there a way to have the RC record only the Mic input and NOT the aux coming from my sampler? (I would like to record vocals on top while the sample is playing.)
THIS IS WHAT I MIGHT NEED. I just bought the limited edition on the JD XI ( RED ) and don't really like the overdub, recording feature on it. I need something that I can lay down longer compositions with. My question is this ? How many layers can you use and how does the memory work for exporting if it's possible ? Thanks
It can make layers almost infinite, from 10-12 layers it starts to hear badly. I am a beatboxer and I still think that the rc - 505 and the 202 did it for the beatboxers. If you want to buy a loopstation so powerful to only make loops, I do not recommend it, but if you know how to make a beatbox and use it with a mic, it may be fine.
my noob doubt is: if the loopstation is recording, the rec is passing to the computer and then we can use it in DAW and edited a video with some music from the loopstation.......am I right ?
I’m considering a looper. I need something with MIDI so that I can incorporate my bass playing alongside my Dawless jams. I’ve been looking at either the EHX 1440, or one of these rc 202s. What are people saying about the pros and cons of these 2, or have any other loop pedals with Midid capabilities that they’d recommend looking at? Cheers.
do you know how to get different length of sound looped? in example, in track one it's 4sec and in track two its 30sec. I'm not really sure if it's clear my question...
and, if they are from the loop station, are they good? I play synths and I'm looking for an easier and more direct way then Ableton to do music also cause I don't like to use a software during the creative process. Is something like this a good choice?
@@TwoGunToast I didn't get an answer either and I'm by no means an expert but I think there is a 1/8" to dual 1/4" cable going from the JP08's output to the RC202's inputs. I think I was a little thrown off by the 202's headphone jack and outputs being occupied. Hope this helps!
It is connected by a 3.5mm jack from the JP08 to two 1/4” (left and right) inputs on the back of the RC202. There is actually a 3.5mm stereo AUX input on the front of the RC202 so you can simply use a 3.5mm stereo jack cable from the Output of the JP08 to the AUX input on the front of the RC202. That is how I connect to it. I have multiple Boutiques controlled by an Arturia Keystep connected to the RC202 through a 3.5mm jack splitter. I simply change the MIDI channel on the Keystep to record the different synths into the RC202.
In this demo the synth and looper are not midi-synched. The length of the first loop he recorded (in time with the 202's inbuilt rhythm track) effectively sets the tempo of the tune, and all subsequent loops are the same length.
I believe it's one or two measures, so 4 or 8 quarter notes but you can adjust the BPM. Can also just how many measures it records for if I'm not mistaken.
1) Can the length be changed after a loop is recorded? Like can I stretch a 4-bar loop to an 8-bar loop? If so does it have the option to preserve pitch? 2) Can the pitch be changed? Standard function for samplers, yet I've yet to see this demonstrated in an RC-505 vid.
This is probably an incredibly dumb question but every tutorial I look up assumes the watcher has a certain level of knowledge already and I need to know. The 202 and keyboard are not directly connected to each other from what I see so they're interacting together through a DAW right? How do you get the 202 to recognize that the keyboard is playing and allow it to pick up on it? I, in particular, have a keyboard with no built in sounds so it relies on the DAW to for sounds. What I see in this video is it's essentially going from the keyboard to the DAW, to the 202 and then back to the DAW as a looped sound. I'm most likely wrong but literally not a single video or forum I could find covers this basic set up information of how to get instruments to interact with the loop station through a DAW without plugging directly into it. I have never used USB instruments and devices before for music and have nobody in my life I can just ask about it. I hope this all makes sense and please know how I dumb I feel walking blindly into this shit.
@Sènevè Mwadi I did however find a small piece of knowledge,. If your midi piano/midi pad etc has a Headphone jack get an Aux cable and go from the headphone to the aux input on the 202, even with loaded sounds from the DAW the loop station should pick it up just fine when you play. As for how thatll feed from the Loop Station to the DAW for a final sound recording I'm unsure of yet.
Will it cut loops based on tempo provided by a midi clock ?? Basically if I play drum machine loops into it and both the looper and the drum machine are midi clock syncd, will the loops be perfectly cut and loop?
Ok.... "to prove you don't need anything fancy to make great music" I think these two pieces of gear are the DEFINITION OF "FANCY" ... so yes, you do need such things ... a better demo would be the Looper and a WOODEN STICK!
autoimmune hammerheadsharks fancy equipment meaning a computer and rack/desk rig that take up a ton of space and aren't known to be portable. This is barely any more than a guitar and a looper pedal. Of course you cant play a guitar with a looper pedal if you don't have a guitar or looper pedal...
