The Boss RC-30 (bit.ly/2kBZ1bt) has been around for awhile now, but holds up as a pretty awesome multifaceted looper for recording and playing live. With two tracks, stereo inputs and outputs, XLR and USB inputs and built in effects, the RC-30 is a bit intimidating, but that’s also what makes it great. It’s a tool you’ll need to spend some time with, but once you discover how it fits your needs, you’ll realize it’s extremely versatile.
You can record up to 3 hours of loops and phrases, including imported backing tracks for your solo act. The onboard rhythms will keep you in tempo, and the effects add some cool dynamics to your loops. One of the stand out features is the ability to record on two tracks and use them to add and subtract loops to vary up a song. Finally, the XLR input means you can plug a mic in and loop your voice, this signal can also be manipulated with the built in effects.
We’re going to take you through some of the features and then jam with a guitar, synth and vocal mic running through the Boss RC-30.

I really can´t use these built effects, except for maybe the delay and the Lo-Fi at very special times. I would rather have reverb or chorus there. But over all it´s a wonderful tool to use and so much fun. Love using it everytime I turn it on.

Hey guys,I recently bought my Boss Rc 30,I'm still learning how to use it,but I'm in love with it. I'm planning to get also the Boss VE 1 Voice Echo,but I have a question. Can I connect my Loop to the VE 1,and loop with the effects that the VE 1 has? And If I can,how would I do it? I'm sorry if it's a silly question! I hope someone can help ❤🌻

I have this pedal and the BOSS OC-3 Super Octave for my acoustic violin, I have been using it for a month now and it is endless what you can do with them. Love the mic and dual track for the OC-3, that's why I bought it. Using other percussive instruments and getting the right sound has been my challenge but I am working on it so, feel free to listen and recommend solutions on how to best set up my Yamaha PA gain and master sound levels, please :)

Hi quick question, does the first recording determine the length of the loop? Im wondering if you can record a quick bass line and afterwards record a longer lead line without overwriting the (quick) loop. Overwriting is great for creating layers but not if you want a lengthy diverse loop. Ofcourse you can do this by repeating the bass line a couple times but my suggestion would be more convenient i suppose. Thanks in advance!

You have two instrument cable inputs (guitar and keyboard) and a mic input, so yes. You can even add in something through the AUX input.

On my RC-30, the playback volume is ridiculously high compared to the thru signal, so that I must keep my volume sliders at about the second hash-mark; if I move them even slightly from their ideal position, the playback volume becomes radically high or radically low. Do you have this problem, and if so do you know of a solution? I looked thru the manual to see if maybe there was a master-volume knob somewhere, but cannot find any such thing. What I want to do is dramatically reduce the playback volume, so the I can have more dynamic range in my sliders. Thanks!!

Have you ever had the problem of the Boss RC-30 getting lag or frozen while playing something and you are not capable to stop it? It happened to me a few times since I bought it. For example, I record a guitar riff and when I stop the recording it keep playing even if I press the right pedal to stop it.

9V DC. Same as most standard pedals and you can even use a daisy chain to power more pedals all from one power brick

The usb doesn't make the pedal work like an audio interface, it just transmits to the PC the recordings saved in the looper

While playing RC-30, if I'm on Track1 and I've recorded multiple layers on it + I'm in the middle of the song, I want to [B][U]clear the Track1 completely using Pedals, not the small button[/U][/B], is it possible? If I'm track1, and start loop1, then over that - loop2, then over that loop3. Finally, if I press left paddle for 2 sec, it deletes loop2 and loop3 but keeps loop1 going. I want to get rid of loop1 too. Example - Ed playing this song ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vxP8FIFH2k8.html. At 3:10 (ish), he clears all the recordings in Track1 and starts another track there. Any help would be appreciated.

can anyone clarify if the rc30 has the same 'quantize' feature as the rc20xl? i have the tc electronic but i have to hit the timing perfectly or theres a hitch. does this one just do it automatically with the tap tempo? does the RC3 also do it?

It can be set to start recording as soon as you start playing if you download the Boss manual it tells you exactly how to do it and it is fairly simple

You've got two 1/4 inputs and one xlr input and then you got two 1/4 outputs. So the left 1/4 input comes out in the left 1/4 output and the same to the right. The xlr comes out in both outputs if I'm not mistaken
