Boston Baroque - "The Trumpet Shall Sound" from Handel's Messiah with Dashon Burton 

Dashon is my best friend and old college roommate. For twenty years now, his singing has given me chills and brought me to tears. Listening to him here, and reading through all the comments praising him, brings me so much joy. He's so talented, and I'm so proud to call him my friend! 🤩

There is only one thing I want before I meet my Maker....to be sitting in a live audience when Mr. Dashon Burton opens his mouth to sing. Anything will do but if if it could be "The Trumpet shall Sound" that would be my idea of perfection.

I'm an atheist, but if religious belief could be based on music listening to this sublime, glorious performance i would be a total Christian believer with not the slightest doubt whatsoever! 👂💖

There is a lady in the choir who is enjoying this marvellous performance as much as we are.

The trumpet player here is top notch.

My dad would've loved hearing this rendition and Dashon Burton's voice. He would've been itching to go up on stage and sing it himself as he would every Christmas season back home for their local production. He had retired from singing many moons ago. He gave one last performance two years ago at my Uncles funeral where he sang Bach's "Ave Maria". He struggled, but got through it. Come to find out my dad was dying of Stage 4 lung cancer. He passed away last year on my 44th birthday.

I had heard Mr. Burton sing this in an earlier rendition and thought it marvelous, but my Lord, he surpasses sublime here! Even some of the instrumentalists appeared to be moved. The woman sitting behind him hadn't stopped smiling and nodding her head as if she was saying "Amen!"

Superb performance. Mr. Burton is wonderful. What a God given talent.

Bravo This was a Majestic rendition. Glory be to God in the Highest!

Handel might well have written this for Dashon.

Dashon Burton is a phenomenon. His rendition of this solo piece is the best i have listened to in Thirty-One (31) years. He was flawless in the articulation of the consonants and his breath control is second to none. Above all, his mastery of this piece is awesome.

He has sung with us at Princeton Pro Musica and I sure hope he would again soon. Lordy!

I have heard many performances as a chorister with the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra and this performance surpasses my previous clear

Indeed need to give some major props to not only the bass but the trumpeter, it's difficult to appreciate how incredibly difficult this piece is. Not to mention he performed it on a natural trumpet no less without vents. Impressive.

Mr. Burton is both singing and preaching of 1 Corinthians 15:52 with everything in his being. A very powerful message and reminder to his audience and us about the Great Return of Christ.

Mr. Burton is a truly remarkable talent. I had the good fortune to hear him perform in the Handel & Haydn Society's Messiah at Symphony Hall in Boston in November 2019. He sings with a joy that is both infectious and uplifting. We are truly blessed to have such a gifted man like this to appreciate.

I listen to this at least twice a day. Dashon is pure perfection.

Simply one of the best Handel baritones around.

Mr Burton has the most extraordinary voice unlike any other I've heard sing the Messiah I have ever heard.
