Get Cool Stuff Here: deechwear.crea...
So, it's been a while since I've put out any new content...no excuse, just life happening and the vids had to take a back seat while I got my "stuff" together. I wasn't sure what cover to do, and was having some real difficulties breaking through on a couple songs that I wanted to release before this one. But a golf buddy suggested this a couple weekends ago and it seemed the best option to break the creative blockage I've been experiencing. I've loved this song combo since I first heard it on 8-track tape as a 10-year old back in the 70's while riding in my uncle's van to help him install flooring during the summer school break. It was my first real taste of "rock-n-roll", and I was blown away by the grinding guitar sounds and full hi-fi stereo field that Tom Scholz was able to create. I had never heard anything like it before, and I had no idea at the time what an accomplishment it was to produce such a high quality recording with the gear of that era.
I purposely didn't play it exactly like the album, rather captured my interpretation of it - I did want to keep the integrity of the song in tact, but I almost never intend to play exactly like the original drummer. After all, I'm not them and they are not me. I like to keep the feel of the song as I hear it, not play a note-for-note copy. Even the original artists rarely play the song exactly the same way as their original recording when performing it live, so I only hope that my interpretation keeps the energy and feel of the song as lively as what I heard back as a 10-year-old.
Thank you to all who share my passion for music and drums, and take the time to view and comment - I am humbled and grateful to be able to still have a venue to express my love of the art and indulge in my passion. Enjoy!!
