My dad died 14 days after his birthday, he loved Boston too, hang in there. Your husband and my dad can live on through this music, appreciate God for all that He has down and the fact He allows us to enjoy these songs attached with our loved ones memories. My heart pours out for you. Rest in Gods embrace you’ll be better than ever
@@jerryornberg4406 I agree, but he’s hardly mentioned when people talk about great rock singers. You always hear Freddie Mercury, Steve Perry, Ronnie James Dio...but seldom Brad Delp.
The 1st Boston album should be required learning in sound engineering school and ranks up with the 10 best albums of all time imo. Would be first on my list of albums I have to have if stranded on a desert island.
That first album is my favorite album of all time! When I’ve had a bad day I go down stairs and sit behind my drums and play through side two. Afterwards I don’t have a care in the world!
ESPECIALLY when you consider that the ENTIRE ALBUM was recorded in Tom Scholz basement in Boston and he played EVERY INSTRUMENT ON IT !!! Brad Delp didn't even know this when he went in and laid down his Vocals !!! He thought that an entire Band recorded the Music tracks and then he went in to do the vocals !!!! AMAZING 😎😎😎😎
@@craigjackson5903 drum tracks were just guide track since Tom was not proficient on a kit. The actual album drm trks were done by Sib Hashian and Jim Masdea. Tom recalls " When I made the first demos in the early 70s the only time there was someone else there was when I laid down basic drum tracks with Jim ( Masdea) and Brad overdubbing vocals. "
Almost 50 years ago everyone else was hot over more than a feeling and foreplay/long time that Peace of mind and this one were so overlooked.. Almost 50 gone by and I still cry when I listen to it
Certain songs can bring you straight to tears… so lucky to have grown up in the 70’s & 80’s. There’s definitely something magical about Tom and what he created.
With Led Zeppelin & Pink Floyd stoking the fires of creativity Boston stood out as a force of nature that gave joy to many people. Ya-Boston & my Klipsh speakers/Technics turntable+ yamaha mixing amplifier I pissed off my bros in the condos.
Its crazy how you can hear soooo much LOVE in his voice. Perhaps more than anyone else I've ever hear. And its not like puppy love, it's like fire kickass love!
This was all those summer nights out with your frends chilling to Boston on a hot summer night having a blast rocking out on Boston thank you Boston for all those memories still listening 2020 🇺🇸
Sukhbir Sekhon As a musician myself, I have mixed feelings on the subject. I enjoy playing, but also appreciate the things that become possible through technology.
Brad Delp is easily one of my top 10 favorite musicians, maybe top 5. It's sad to think that he might still be with us if he lived in a time when mental health issues were accepted and not stigmatized. As unbelievably sad as his death was, he left behind wonderful music that will be appreciated for a very long time.
They've discovered that B12 deficiency mimics depression and all sorts of mental illness and neurological and physical I believe he was deficient So many people being Misdiagnosed and could be treated with Amazing results
Pure speculation on my part but famous musicians are iften victimized by their wives. Again, I'm just guessing as I don't know much about Brad Delp. But I do know that women who are attracted to these kinds of men tend to be highly toxic wives.
That would be of satan. 1 Corinthians 12:11 New Living Translation 11 It is the one and only Holy Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have." It has nothing to do with giving praise and Glory to God or Jesus Christ for dying on a cross to save us from our sins. We all deserve hell then then the lake of fire on judgment day.
I was at this concert , at the former Copps Coliseum , one of my all time favorites.... Brad Delp was one of the best vocalists ever 👏 May he Rest in Peace
My favorite group of all time. I met them back stage on June 13 1995 with my sister. I still have my signed sign that I made for the concert. Class act. God bless.
that guitar solo is fucken killer. you think the first time they played this song together in its entirety immediately after they were like "ok guys thats a hit"
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the studio version of this song has the greatest guitar solo of all time, mixing extreme Talent with emotion that pours out of his guitar.
Saw this prior to being deployed out west. Still brings a tear to my eye some 30+ years later watching this video. Never be a band like Boston again...and never will there be an era of music like the 80's again. RIP Brad Delp.
It was so fuckin cool to see them live in 87 in Pittsburgh. Growing up in the 70s, I had the records, but had never gotten to see them live until the Third Stage tour. RIP Brad, your fans miss you.
I used to have a Geo Storm hatchback in the late 80s. The acoustics where awesome in it. The guitar solo in this rocked better than any other time I have heard this song. Never have been able to recreate that sound. Love this tune.
Metallica doesn't come close to Boston nowadays. Also, Boston is still around so idk what you mean by "after them". They're last album was only 5 years ago.
55 year old lifelong boston fan here since i had the first album on 8 track as an 11 year old and have fond memories of cruising around in my 72 cuda in the early 1980s cranking up boston . flash forward to 2020 and im cruising around in my 71 duster still cranking up boston cds . one of the greatest rock bands in my opinion .
57 years old.... loved VH and Journey... Grew up with Boston on the radio. No question Boston has got the best debut album EVER. Im listening now and being transported back in time
Why aren't they in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME ? And why do they come after bands like ZZ top or BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN , or other minor bands or lesser singers, in the TOP 100 BEST ROCK GROUPS ? I wonder ....
@@irinanavrapescu2009 there is an extensive list of bands/artists who aren't in the hall but there are a handful that just makes no sense why they are continually overlooked. Boston is one of them
Screw the rock hall. What a joke it's become. RUN DMC got in before RUSH and BOSTON? They aren't even rock & roll. It's all about political correctness now so why would you even care?
Tom is a master. MIT graduate in engineering. Worked and developed sound audio for Polaroid camras. Then use his technology to get that perfect sound. This whole album was created by him and only him in his watertown Ma. Home in his basement. Look it really cool. Producers came there and were shocked that there was no band. It was just tom who put all the pieces together with every instrument.awesome story
It¨s a very "magic" song i love it so much, i bought my record long long time ago exactly in 1 980 , RIP Brad a marvelous singer , also i cannot forget Tom a God playing the guitar and an excellent keyboardman , and the rest of musician of BOSTON a great band that made me happy and still put some of harmony to my fucking life.
Not only is Tom one of the best guitarists of all time, he is also top shelf on keyboards, bass, recording, mixing, everything involved with producing a killer album, he’s the man
I was raised in a completely country music household and still love it,but the first (1978)time I heard Boston I was amazed and this album I still play the cd regularly..RIP Brad🙌🏼
And I'll NEVER forget where I was when I heard the news about Brad come over my car radio! It still weighs heavy in my heart. Real bad. Honestly hard to believe it's been that long ago. Never got to see them in person. But "Don't Look Back" was one of my first 2 simultaneous LP purchases. (The other was ELO's "Out of the Blue"). Still even remember what song on my album ("It's Easy") had a small scratch that would cause a "repeat" near the beginning of the solo. (I guess I kind of wore it out?! HaHa) Got used to it after a while. Just needed a gentle "bump" to continue. Still hear that "phantom" scratch every time the song is played elsewhere. That memory really makes me smile. Long live the '70s!
I saw them live in '91 - Sacramento ! Best concert ever! My 1st born son was yet to be born, my wife was probably 6-7 mos. along. We and everyone else there was rocking to the music. It was so loud you could feel it in your body. My son loves Boston. He's 28 now. I know he could hear it from inside my wife that day, loud and clear, and he still loves them!
they were old men at that point anyway. they sucked live, sholz was a statue on stage and couldn't re-create the overdubs live. the only good music they ever made was in sholz's basement in 1975. we have the recordings to play whenever we want.
@@adayatatyme yeah don't look back in 1978 had a couple of good songs on it, and i liked "amanda" from third stage. they blew it by not putting out more albums in their prime though.
It is so sad that there is no bands like this today. 55 years old here. If you are 22 you will never get it. you have to be at least 45 to get it. So sad....
sun dancer 52 yrs old here. It’s just a different time. But I still stay up till 345 in the morning in Texas watching Boston Pink Floyd Foo Fighters Stevie Wonder the list goes on. Much love
sun dancer 57, just in the last few years really finding out, how really great 70s music was/is. The Cars was my band of choice for many decades, for some reason, and then a few years ago I found Buckethead, then more recently the rest have been finding their way back into my ‘soundtrack’ . Rick Beatos’ RU-vid channel has really been great for analyzing some of the songs from that era.
sun dancer “I’m an old depressing fuck who thinks they’re better than everyone else because I’m a boomer-hipster.” Good music exists everywhere all the time. There are bands like this today, but you’re too old, lazy, and technologically inept to find them. Just keel over already, asswipes.
Freaking amazing, such talent. Tom sure knew how to put the act together. Blessed and honored to to listen. Nothing today even comes close. Grateful for the Blessings.
I saw them 9 years earlier, 1979, St. John’s Arena, Columbus, Ohio. My FIRST concert. My parents were angry I “wasted” 6.50 on a ticket. The memory of that concert is priceless so kids-mom and dad are NOT always right!! RIP Brad Delp. Thanks for the memories. ❤️✊🏼
Saw what I believe was the second show of this tour. They were one of my favorite bands growing up but they hadn't played live in about 8 years so I was fired up to finally see them. It was at the Texas Jam at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas in June 1987. Lineup included Farenheit, Poison (not a big fan), Whitesnake, Aerosmith and Boston closing out the show. Paul Stanley even came out and jammed with Poison for a couple songs. Hot as hell that day but one of the best of my life. Boston didn't come out for about two hours after Aerosmith - they were waiting for darkness so they could do their light show. Brutal wait but worth every minute. They were awesome. Saw them again several months later on this tour in Baton Rouge - I was an LSU student at the time. Another great show. This is my favorite Boston song and unfortunately they didn't play it at either show so it's great to see it live here all these years later. Thanks for posting.
I remember the Monday morning after the Texxas Jam in 87 lots of people calling in to Q102 unhappy that Boston didn't play Smokin'. Other than that, an awesome concert, heat be damned!
Wow. Didn't know they had shade for miles at that place. Glad you were able to find some. We had moved up to about 15 rows from the stage by the time Aerosmith had come on. The fire hoses were the best things ever. Like manna from heaven!!!!!
what talent...Brad and Tom play guitar and keyboards effortlessly Brad had the voice and Tom could build a song like people build a skyscraper and they become as big as one...just love this band...always have..
my absolute favorite band. High school 78-82 > Oh the fuzzy memories!!! Saw them live on don't look back tour. Wish i had seen them on their first tour
For those who wants to learn guitar solos those guys are great teachers ...just buy your guitar ...just pay attention ...just love it and than you can play at home and have fun with unique and eternal sounds like these
