At the time, nobody had heard the guitar sound like this. Tom designed his own effects and combined with layered production techniques that built upon the Spector efforts a decade earlier added to the amazing lead vocals of Brad … Boston took the country by storm! You had to wait years for their next album, but in the meantime we could catch them on tour! This was in the 70s another magic musical moment of the decade! 💪🏻🎸🎤🎶👍🏻
In the 70's I was a kid and being the youngest of four I was exposed to all of the " classic " rock bands. I was riding in my mothers ginormous Chevy Malibu when I heard Boston for the first time. More Than A Feeling hit the airwaves and this new sound blew me away! Fan ever since.
Very well put Jason. Tom Sholtz is often the unsung hero of Boston, but that's exactly the way he always wanted it. Tom never chased the fame or the spotlight and just enjoyed what he was doing.
people living in competition but all i want is peace of mind ♥ Cant be more me, sick of bragging, climbing, backstabbing and unessecary bullshit, i just wanna go home close the door. This song could learn the world so much, make it a globeanthem.
It’s relatively unknown among non-musicians that this entire record was produced, engineered, and recorded in Tom Scholz’s basement. He also played all the instruments with the exception of vocals.
Yep, you got it, bro’. This is a song to live by. Just be yourself, do your best, do right, and don’t be corrupted by the world, your job, your friends…. and let the chips fall where they fall. And you can sleep at night. Cuz in the end, you gotta live with yourself and LIKE the person looking back at you in the mirror. Plus you’ll live longer. It’s worked for me.
You lucky old folks. I’m totally the boomer wannabe with music fully convinced today’s music pales in comparison to what you all got to see. Lots of good music today tbf but you kind of have to dig a bit.
Tom was working at Polaroid, and He wasn't sure His music would be good enough, having conceived, and recorded all this by himself, and even got rejected the few times he sent out demo tapes. His bosses at Polaroid were skeptical, until More Than A Feeling hit the radio. Where is Polaroid Now, LOL Tom has Degrees in Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering from MIT, He was going to be successful either way, but this album Caught Fire, and has never waned.
I also grew up with a lot of the music you're playing. It's absolutely fun to see younger generations appreciate all the good music us old facts grew up to.
I was recently reading an excerpt from an interview with the singer, Brad Delp, and he said that they were so busy touring to promote the album, that they had no idea what the sales on the album were... no internet or cell phones back then. He called his agent and told him he would like to buy a house, was that possible? His agent said "How many do you want?". Brad said "that's when we knew we'd made it"... 😎👍
Here we go.... Peace Of Mind is my favorite Boston song!! Gonna watch now!!! ;) ;) BTW, you're really pumping out the vids lately!! LOVE IT!! Thanks Biz!!!
This album stood as the greatest debut album in music history. It was only surpassed by Guns and Roses' Appetite for Destruction. Yet still all these decade later Boston still maintains songs from this album with regular airplay time on all classic rock radio stations mainly the A side
I finally got to see them in concert a few years ago. Triple bill with them, BOC and Kansas at Wells Fargo Arena, in Des Moines. Absolutely was blown away, even with the absence of Brad Delp, rip. Kansas was freaking amazing as well, even without their retired lead singer. Long live rock and roll...
Boston got BARS!!!! 😂 Now that’s something I never even thought of 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 great review fam!!!!! I love watching you enjoy these timeless classics!!!! Can’t wait for the next one!!! Thank you 💞
First time I heard this album was at my cousin's house. I was 9. He had the album and we were there all day kinda thing. I was floored. I was told to turn it down a dozen times that day. It went on from there.
This might be the best 1st album ever recorded. Every song got airplay. I don't think there are too many bands that can say that. Even the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, GnR or Skid Row. None of them did that
All the songs are brilliant!!! Everything about them is genius and perfection!!!!!" "Well everybody's got advice they just keep on givin'.. Doesn't mean too much to me.. Lots of people have to make believe they're livin'...Can't decide who they should be.. I understand about indecision.. But I don't care if I get behind.. People living in competition...All I want is to have my peace of mind..."
The mix is the same as it was mastered in 1975 and quite few record companies turned it down and then it became the best selling album in the 70s and held that status for a long time ...Listen to FOREPLAY /LONGTIME
Next up: Foreplay/Long Time! Foreplay/Long Time is one of those songs that makes responsible drivers who usually drive 65mph look down at their speedometer while the song is cranking on their car stereo and realize they are now driving at 98mph! It starts out semi-slow and then it soars into the Stratosphere with awesomeness!!!
Biz! This is another one of those killer albums from the 70’s that is a must own in one’s library! This whole album is kick ass! I remember how huge this was when it came out in the mid 70’s!
Now you’re ready for Foreplay/Long Time. Foreplay is an instrumental with a kicking organ that leads into the main song, Long Time. The entire first album is fire. Enjoying the channel! Cheers!
taking a broad view of the word, stuff like doing the thriller arms for a few seconds as a joke is a meme. image macros etc. are definitely more immediately recognizable though :P
My favorite is your next choice...Foreplay/Longtime! The one word I use to describe it is 'bombastic'! Smokin' and Rock & Roll Band are bangers. The entire album is genius!
Hey Biz. Awesome channel Man! Would you please react to, "Don't let me sleep in the morning", by the 70's band, 'Head East'! Such an awesome tune. FIRE! You would be the very first one I've seen do a reaction to it. Keep it up! Kudos!
One of the 5 greatest Rock albums of the 70's easily. Never gets old, still love the whole thing as I did the first time I heard it. Not bad for a bunch of college kids recording in their basement. How bout trying some Jethro Tull? Special band, great muse for decades. One of the best front men in Rock history as well. I recommend the song My God. Has a powerful message, the tune is just as powerful. Cheers~!
The times we live in now is so devastating for human souls. As soon i go out i just wanna go home close the door.. No pretentious bs, .No Karens, No cocksuckers. BUT when at home i can suggest next Boston: Foreplay/Long time
There is no music like Boston. And every album to date is in a niche by itself. A better use of the word "timeless" does not exist. Once you are done with this album, do us and yourself a favor and move into the next 2 albums track by track. You will understand.
