I've noticed everyone who gets murdered is described as "sweet," "kind," or "popular." I've decided to live the rest of my life as a stark raving b*tch to make sure I never get murdered.
They always say that but then something comes out about the victim being into some dodgy shit, like “she was a prostitution and a drug addict but she was such a sweet girl” so I dunno…

@ Legionmint, my heart breaks for her family as well. Karina Holmer, like many other people, decide to come to the US for better or different opportunities and in less than a year Karina lost her life in the most brutal and horrific manner. Her family must face the nightmare as each day followed by years which turn into decades for Karina to have justice only for that opportunity to never materialize. RIP Karina Holmer 😢

Probably just clothes they used during the murder, not the bottom half. It's strange leaving one half so easily findable, while hiding the other so well.
@@dimikaydoesthings I hate to even mention this but has anyone heard the song Sarah by Tyler the Creator? He ends this girl who wouldn't go to prom with him and saws her in half. Then gets rid of the top half and keeps the bottom half for "personal use". I wonder if thats why the bottom half has never been found. The sicko kept it
@@mickbowling4412 idk man someone sick enough to chop a girl in half is EXACTLY the type of person to keep the bottom half. Or bury the bottom half near him. You're acting like a normal person would commit a crime like this when they wouldn't in the first place. There's already got to be something seriously broken in their mind to commit this crime to begin with.
Safe to assume her employers did it. Being a painter and a photographer, they would most likely have multiple studios or shops where they do their work and where they could hide/dispose of a body, and a dumpster at their home was on fire around the time the victim's remains were found, and the artwork is all way too coincidental.
It's sad... Everyday technology evolves to the point were old cases can have other chances and get solved, but in this case, there's no evidence, I don't see we ever finding out what happened to Karina unless someone who knows something comes forward...
That does happen with a lot of cases though fortunately. The headlines are like COPS SOLVE CASE!! And you find out someone came forward and said "my ex husband told me he did it" Great job cops
“The subject matter of the paintings should not be taken as an admission of guilt “ 😱 As an artist myself, I can tell you those paintings most certainly should be taken as some sort of admission of guilt!!!! I’m not saying she killed the girl, but I’d wager a million dollars she knows who did!! Cheers
Same. I'm an artist myself any form of emotion such as guilt is easier to get off your chest if you put it on canvas. Her mind was definietly troubled by the case most likely because she knows the truth. It's just too convenient yknow
@@d3ad_ro0ster I completely agree!! I work in abstract art but my feelings and mood certainly dictate my color choices and overall patterns I end up with on the canvas. So when I saw her images, I knew immediately she knows a lot more than what she is saying. 🤔 Cheers
First off, who in the world would draw and make more disturbing that link to the case. I think both of them were far more guilty after they removed the final piece of art, which concluded that they knew the case more than anyone else. Number 2, if it was after the case and they knew about her death, wouldn't be kind of insult to injury to person death and no remorse for her death as well.
I feel like coping art such as that shouldn't be put up for sale. If they didn't do it, feels disrespectful to her memory to sell art about it. If they did do it, even more so!
They might’ve lawyered up because the husband confessed to hitting on her or cheating, which would have put him at the top of the list for suspects. Especially if he thought there was a chance she told people about it.
Had the same thought. Investigations like this get so difficult because often there are so many agendas at play. The employers may have had nothing at all to do with her murder, but decided not to cooperate because of all the messy details about their own lives it would have brought up. That makes them looks suspicious in the murder case though, and the already muddy waters get muddier. Respect to investigators and law enforcement that can actually weed through all the garbage and solve real-world murder cases.
The lawyering-up up is one thing, the fact that they stonewalled the investigation and flat-out refused to cooperate, continuously, is another thing entirely.
@@fredericabernkastel8354 That's what I was thinking. I'm an artist, currently dealing with some heavy trauma in my own life. And my main coping method has been through a private visual journal. Anyone to find the photos and sketches in there would think I'm a sick, twisted psycho, but I'm just pouring my grief and pain out on the page, and recording this time of sorrow, the way that someone less visually oriented would write in a journal. It's the exact same concept. Maybe in the future, when the pain isn't as fresh, some of those images will find their way into my work intended for public viewing. So many great works of art are rooted in pain and trauma. Think of The Scream, or any of Frida Kahlo's works. I saw much more disturbing works than the paintings in the video daily when I was in art school.
I believe in getting a lawyer no matter what, don’t take a lie detector test ever and other things to make seeing the police more equal. The police are not your friends and will lie to you to get you to say something incriminating. However it is hard when you see those you think are guilty use these rights. But has to be done to make sure we are all treated right when accused.
100% agree. However, what *REALLY* sticks out to me is the fact that, even after getting an attorney, they completely stonewalled the investigation and continuously refused to cooperate. Really, really sus, and an absolutely colossal red flag.
Just the sheer number of people who have been exonerated by DNA and other physical evidence should make every single American request a lawyer and shut the fuck up. Unless you did it. If you did that shit, just start talking and don't stop.
Logically you should. Society is the best detective tho, look at this comment section. They all know better what happened than people that studied their job for years. 😂
Yup. Don't feel bad or guilty because you refused to talk, lawyered up and refused a polygraph. It is your right and silence can't be used as evidence to prove guilt..
In French, we have the expression "cadeau empoisonné," which translates to "poisoned gift;" it fits perfectly with the concept you mention at the beginning, something you get that you think is a blessing at first, but turns out to be a curse.
The most suspicious part for me is that, someone who found a way to dispose of her lower half so that it could never be found just tossed out the upper part like trash. If you have an apparently foolproof way to get rid of the lower half, why just haphazardly dump the top half? I think someone trying to hide evidence would prefer to get rid of the whole thing, that way it can't be confirmed that she's actually dead. Even then, that doesn't seem to fit with a serial killer, unless we assume he only wanted one of his victims' bodies to be found, which also doesn't seem likely. This whole thing is bizarre.
a dumpster is actually a pretty good place to hide a body, once it gets taken to the dump the remains are unlikely to ever be found. considering her body was discovered on a sunday afternoon, if that homless man had been a few hours later the can would likely have been emptied and thats that. hell, even if he had just been less curious our less conscientious he could have looked right at the bag and never opened it or never told the police about it. i imagine the killer simply hid her 2 halves in 2 separate dumpsters and the 2nd one was cleaned out before anyone found anything.
It’s sort of weird that they made public all the details about their investigation into the employers, the homeless man, the guy with a dog, and then are just like yeah no information on our coworker the police man just trust us on that one. We’re treating him completely different than all the other suspects for a good reason
Maybe he had such a strong alibi that he was immediately off the table? Cops often work weekends/nights and frequently travel with partners - if this was the case at the time of her disappearance, he would have had a water-tight alibi with corroborating testimony. It's also entirely possible that he was at the scene of another crime at the time of her disappearance, in which case he would have once again had a water-tight alibi. What about any of the other guys she dated during her time in Boston? Why are you not equally focused on them?
@@yayhandles The subject of my comment was the obvious inconsistency in available suspect information, not the cops guilt. It's probable this guy DID have an airtight alibi. but we don't know because they chose not to tell us. If they had released the details of their investigation into the cop but kept everything about the guy with the white dog top secret, i would be commenting about how it was weird that the police refused to release any information about the guy with the white dog. As for the last question I'm not certain I understand, are you asking me why I am focusing on someone who was a subject of the video over people not featured in the video?
What I find sketchy is that the couple wasn't suspects from the beginning. I mean they were the closest to her. Also the fact that they were off the hook so easily is pretty fishy. And for some reason I can't believe that none of their employees haven't file for sexual assault of some sort. I believe they have people in the police that covers up for them.
I agree with this to an extent but the part about employees filing some kind of sexual assault, I have to challenge. This was back in the 90s. If you remember correctly or were around then, sexual harassment or assault in the “work place” was not talked about as openly as it is today. It wasn’t encouraged as much to report these incidents and people were doubtful on what was even considered sexual harassment because for the most part unless you worked for a corporation that had formal training and policies, it wasn’t really an awareness people had. Especially in this kind of work setting. There was a lot of doubt surrounding it bc people would be questioned on what THEY did to provoke it and it wasn’t taken seriously. That put together with the fact that they worked for a prominent well known family and most of these Nannie’s were not from the US, there is a lot of good reason why they wouldn’t want to come forward or feel like they would even be believed or taken seriously. So that part is not surprising to me at all.
Why is everyone who’s thinking it was her employers or even her ex-bf ignoring the fact she was never seen again after she was spotted outside the club? She clearly left with a stranger(s), most likely the two she was with sitting in the green car. When and how do you people think she was somehow intercepted by her employers to be murdered?!
@@LiveFreeOrDie2A I think the line of thinking is that she did make it back to her apartment. If I remember correctly there was speculation that her employer put her up in the place so he could come there to meet with her whenever he wanted. People suggest that he has been there waiting for her to get home or maybe the ex was? I didn’t have a theory in that my theory was just based on why other Nannie’s wouldn’t have come forward with sexual assault claims so I don’t know I’m just guessing why other people may think it could of Been them 🤷🏻♀️
Not to be scaring you Europeans, often times recently arrived emigres here in US who are murdered are absolutely has zero clues as to their murder leads might be, you've seen it with many cases but often times, its hard to pinpoint when and how, they even new to the country and are easy prey for the killers here
@@AlamoOriginal Not just the US, really. Recent immigrants, temporary workers, or foreign travellers in almost any country that get murdered are far less likely to have relevant leads than an established local. It's seemingly a recurring theme on his channel - the Dutch girls in the rain forest would be a great example.
I’m happy that this channel has gone from a scary stories channel and morphed into a true crime channel that spreads the word about widely unknown and region-locked unsolved mysteries. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the scary stories stuff, but the reporting on these is always excellent and engaging, and could even lead to cases being solved if the right person hears about them. All this to say, Lazy, I have been a fan since nearly the beginning and I am proud to call myself a viewer of your videos. Keep it up! ❤
I'd say it was her employer's. All past employees said he was a creep and tried it on them. He got her an apartment so he could have been waiting there for her. The burning in the dumpster behind their house. The paintings......they did it!
I agree, but don't just flat-out say they did it. That's a bad way of phrasing it and is the kind of mentality that leads to false convictions. It would be more accurate/less disingenuous to say something along the lines of, "it seems likely that they were involved somehow.". I agree, I think it's very likely that the employers were the perps, but projecting the individual equivalent of a mob mentality and simply announcing, "they did it!" as a matter of fact is incredibly bad form on your part and sets a *TERRIBLE* social precedence. Also: All the points that you cited as the reasons pale in comparison to their reaction when questioned by police. The immediate lawyering-up and refusal to cooperate with the investigation is the only hard evidence that we have to support any theory of their involvement. With that said, this specific element is... *QUITE* telling. Everything else (the character statements, the dumpster fire, the access to tools/facilities, and the content of the paintings) is purely circumstantial and supporting relative to their actual reaction.
@@yayhandles somebody needs to start calling things like they are. This crap worrying about feelings is making the world worse. If it's so obvious it's painful, there's nothing wrong with saying it exactly like she just did.
@@johndodo2062 except that this ISNT calling it as it is. I'd get a lawyer too if i were innocent, because the pressure was probably on the cops to put it on someone and the employers just happened to be available. Wouldn't be the first time an innocent would be charged based on a twisting of something they said because the cops felt like doing that
I live in Boston, worked for the City in the 90's. I drove by that dumpster a lot. Everyone kept expecting her bottom half to be found. They searched every dumpster in the Back Bay. Nothing ever found. Another reason the photographer employer was a suspect, the large tanks he used for photography could be used to keep the scene of the crime (his studio) clean of evidence. As their would have been a lot of blood. There was nowhere in the home it could have been done. No shed, basement, nowhere else but the studio.
Everywhere, everyday someone is being murdered, like this probably wasn’t the only murder that took place on your graduation/birthday as I’m speaking I’m sure someone right now is being raped, murdered or trying to commit suicide or being trafficked
@@danidavis7912 but the exact date _is_ something to her. You have to admit, that is kind of weird. And a bit sad. This is why she mentioned what she did.
The 'something terrible' was definitely her sleeping with Frank. I think the couple hired someone to kill Karina and then burned all the evidence in the dumpster. The bottom portion of her body most likely wasn't burned or else the cops would've found some charred body parts. They couldn't have done it themselves because what would a painter and photographer know about killing and disposing of a body without leaving any DNA, it had to be done by a professional. I doubt her ex-boyfriend did it because there is no information suggesting that he held any grudge about the break up, unless I completely missed it in the video. It could also be that Susan found out about Frank's affair with Karina and hired someone without Frank even knowing about it.
Knowledge of bleach and gloves preventing the retainment of forensic evidence was not a new thing at the time. Anyone that had ever seen a mob movie from the 80's would have known this.
Right... They're aware of their limitations regarding the carrying out of a murder, hire a professional to do it but both them and the professional are so stupid they know of no better way of disposing of evidence than setting a dumpster in front of their house on fire.
Yes, that seemed obvious to me. She might have been sexually assaulted by another person, and/or become pregnant. I wouldn't say from the "something terrible" comment that she was "sleeping" with Frank. Possibly he was periodically raping her and she didn't feel free to go to the police.
I agree with your first point, although I think it’s more likely someone at the club took advantage of her emotionally vulnerable state, yet it’s quite strange that she would still be able to party while also feeling like she is unsafe.
@@Urlocallordandsavior If she were taking drugs she could well have been partying without her brain "in gear". Other types of drugs would remove the awareness to feel unsafe, so she could well continue partying. Someone at the club (stranger/acquaintance) could well have taken advantage of her in that state or combination of states.
As someone from Boston, who lives in Boston and knows these street names, the proximaty between them, who went to school in the Fenway my blood runs cold at this story. In Boston all bars and clubs shut down at 3 AM. A Atreet is and was known for artists, especially in the 90's, today it is known as the Seaport and it humming but in the 90's it was empty. You could easily kill someone there and no one would hear. If you want to know what A Street was like back then, watch The Departed, Capt. Queenan gets killed on A Street, thats where its shot. IMO: Susan wasn't involved, and her paintings are not a coincidence, they're just a way to express her feelings, maybe capturing the moment of her death, but the one with the angel definitely seems like something she'd paint in grieving like feelings. The "terrible thing" might have been rape, but by the hands of whom, I don't know. It could be Frank, it could be the cop who was still into her, and would indeed be something too heavy to just write in a letter, and either because he was her boss and a known man, or because he was a cop, she did not go to the police but wanted to just go back home, and maybe getting super drunk at the club was a way of numbing herself and try to forget it for just a moment, but the culprit wasn't gonna let her leave and blab, so they might have sent someone else in place (hence why nobody says they recognised Frank etc, or someone else), and they threatened or enticed or something else her in the car, and then bam. The fact her lower body wasn't just tossed so carelessly might mean that they really didn't want anyone to find out that she had been assaulted, and maybe find dna, hair, what have you. It could also be that it was Frank all along, and maybe they did have a relationship, maybe just a one night stand, and then she thought it was wrong, and he panicked thinking she'd tell the wife, and when she indeed left on her own to go home (maybe told her friends, but they were too drunk to understand/remember), she arrived only to find him there who jumped her, brought her somewhere, and took care of it. I think if Susan was involved whatsoever, she wouldn't have involved her in her art at all, trying to bury everything to not raise suspicions. But, that's just a theory...
Although it's very true that expressing grief through art is definitely a thing, the fact that they immediately lawyered-up, then continuously refused to cooperate with the investigation and fully stonewalled it, is about as big of a red flag as you can get.
This was an extremely good video as it broached the possibility of "if someone won the lottery could something bad actually happen?" As for who killed Karina though I think it was her male employer. Of all the witnesses who seemed to be reliably retelling that night's events it seems to be the one who said she left with an older gentleman, as that camera collaborated that she was indeed hanging around someone older I think what happened is Karina's friend saw her hanging around that Superman cosplayer, but sometime after that her boss showed up offered to take her home, and then did the deed which is when I think her female employer comes into play, as I think she stumbled in on him having already sawed Karina in half and was forced to secrecy or willingly helped to clean and dispose of the body only later confessing her guilty conscience through her artwork.
Remember despite what people tell you, it's NEVER suspicious to Lawyer up, your first and only words when talking to the police for any reason should only and always be "Lawyer." I was waiting to see if someone made this comment. First two things my thoughts went to were the Black Dahlia murder (where the victim was also cut in half, all of her blood removed, and had her body similarly "displayed", albeit with both halves in that case, as DNA evidence wasn't a risk back then. Also, the fact that there's a prominent theory that the BD murder was the work of a *very* fucked up artist) and UrbanSPOOK
This person definitely needs to be caught because they're dangerous without any shadow of doubt if they can murder Karina in such a brutal fashion you can only imagine what they can do to any of their other targets

I absolutely believe that more criminals would get away with their crimes if they could only keep their mouths shut. The minute I saw that employer with the sunglasses, I KNEW he had something to do with it. He looks TOO creepy. Also, why would the wife draw inspiration from such horrifying events? That shows she has a sadistic or psychopathic personality. I don't know anyone who would do THAT. It's SO insensitive. That makes me think she was involved!
Man, if you judged me based off my art, you’d think I was a complete lunatic. But then again I would never think of drawing something like the pictures in the video after someone close to me has died…I find it difficult to make anything when I’m upset or depressed.
Actually happened to my sister; they were doing voluntary screenings using a newly developed technology for finding cancer and stuff, and my sister decided to go do it because it was free and would help provide data for new cancer research. They ended up catching a tumor in her head as well as her spine, and because of that she was able to get surgeries to remove both. I went to visit her both times after the surgery to help around her house while she recovered. She's doing well now but that was crazy. For further context she was in the army for a while before this and apparently tumors tend to form wherever you got bone breaking injuries; the tumors grew right where she had been injured in her army days. I think she has like 80% disability or something. My whole family is composed of teachers and soldiers and every soldier in the family has sustained some form of injury that put them on disability. I'm about to get my teaching degree.
I wonder if they tried matching the partial finger print found on the garbage bag to that of the couple she worked for. They definitely know more than they’re letting on.
I’m an American and happy to be so, but if someone asked me if a non-American should consider moving here, I would say absolutely not. Reason being, I know how to navigate the dangers and signs to look out for a possible dangerous situation. It breaks my heart to see non-Americans come here and be slaughtered like this. I’m sure Karina had such wonderful hopes, but it’s tragic she did not have time to bail out of the American “dream”. RIP Karina and all foreigners who died here so tragically.
Immediately thought of the employers as possible suspects when they were introduced to the story, and I thought I was probably just overthinking but to my surprise they were actually named as serious suspects. I think the dumpster fire combined with her to this day still missing lower torso seems like way too much of a coincidence. And the "terrible thing" that Karina mentioned in the letter is in my mind most likely that she was pregnant with her employer's child, as it fits together with everything else so perfectly.
Just an FYI - police investigating a crime are never your friend. Please, whether you are guilty OR innocent, *never take a polygraph!* And always consult an attorney before answering ANY questions from law enforcement!
Yes. Exactly this. Retired police officers, defense attorneys, former prosecutors and criminal law experts all say this. But unfortunately tv and movies including true crime documentaries and even RU-vid love to paint the picture that if you “lawyer up” you must be guilty

9:58 Wait, they did not question the bouncer? The worst witnesses are the drunk people, "witnesses" are bad in general regarding memory, but surely the cops could get the staff testimonies?
I'd be interested to know if there was any new or nearly complete construction in the area. A circular power saw isn't a common item for people to own in the city. Also the ligature was called a cord not a rope making think it was a smooth item instead of a braided rope ie a power drop cord. I think the cleaning was no so much to hide evidence of the attack. With the time table I'd expect someone to just wipe down the body not completely clean it down to removing the make up, but to cover up a botched attempt to hide the body. I think maybe the perp tried to hide her in a concrete form at a construction site but it was not big enough for the whole body. It had to be removed and the concrete washed off with a hose or power washer (which would have drawn out the blood if she'd already been separated) and the lower half hidden as originally planned in the concrete and the torso nearby because there was not another area of the concrete to hide it in.
“Police take notice” could have a different meaning. If it was the cop ex boyfriend who did it, maybe it’s a warning that if he’s suspected again there won’t be protection for him the next time around.

Was on BBSes at the time which would lead me to be loosely aware of a person on the board who herself would be killed at the end of this year. Why are people so evil?
