@@frontrow9978 Comcast isn't to blame for not getting an NBC O&O station in Boston. Now remember, before Comcast completely brought NBC in March 19, 2013 they brought a 51% stake of NBCUniversal from GE after General Electric and Vivendi Universal formed NBCUniversal in 2004. But before NBC Universal existed, was when David Mugar sold WHDH-TV to Sunbeam Television in 1991 by and then NBC brought WHDH as an NBC affiliate on January 2, 1995 but because of that came with the rocky relationship from WHDH and NBC because WHDH announced on April 2, 2009 that they will choose to air a 10PM newscast on September 2009 because they didn't want to air The Jay Leno Show but NBC was in the right to air it by that fall and WHDH was in a flagrant violation by NBC's contract so WHDH announced later by April 13, 2009 that they will comply and air The Jay Leno Show instead. Fast forward a few years later on January 7, 2016 Valari Staab announced that they would cease it's affiliation with channel 7 on January 1, 2017. Later that year Ed Ansin's company Sunbeam Television sued Comcast in the District Court Of Massachusetts on March 10, 2016 because of an antitrust law but that was dismissed by Judge Richard Stern saying that the loss of over the air coverage maybe a public concern but it is not a concern that WHDH had standing to redress and that absent any actionable harm attributable to Comcast, it is simply an indurate consequence of doing business in a competitive and unsentimental marketplace, which is why WHDH lost and Ed Ansin said he would no longer pursue the appeal against NBC because it was unlikely gonna be resolved in his favor. And besides Sunbeam Television had plans for WHDH to become an independent station which means that they will have more news coverage. So to completely answer your question, Comcast wasn't to blame after all those years in the last decade because it is not Comcast who's at fault when WHDH was an NBC affiliate for the majority of time until January 1, 2017, it was Sunbeam Television owner Ed Ansin. No TV station that's affiliated with a TV network such as NBC should violate the network's contract over a new show based on a late night host. I also knew that *(after watching the pasts newscast archives on RU-vid)* that it was weird for an NBC station to not become an O&O *(and yes WCVB is a Hearst owned ABC station, we can argue about that, but they didn't went behind ABC's back by refusing to air a program by it's contract)* in Boston after WBZ-TV used to be an O&O station of NBC until January 1995. But I'm glad NBC actually got an O&O station because I am a huge TV fan of watching an O&O station *(like WBZ which some O&O stations have a sister station)* because a O&O station is far more superior than a non O&O which has more benefits to air it's own live events *(whenever it happens)* while moving it's network programming to their sister station for most of the day and sometimes moving their own early evening newscast to their sister station due to a game around 5 PM.
