I’ve had 3 Boston’s. One is a puppy mill mom rescue. She has had a few issues that have worked out over the years. She is very healthy for 13 1/2 yrs. The only time my boy dog drooled was at the dog park, with all the awesome smells. There is no apparent dog odor . Sadly these very cork screw tails, can indicate hemivertibrae. It’s heart breaking to watch your baby become paralyzed. Don’t let them jump up or down high things. Our boy was 12 1/2 when he died. Man, he was my favorite of all. Obedient, intelligent, discerning, great watch dog, calm, BRAVE, energetic, sweet with newborn and toddler humans, playful with older kids, and dogs, healthy until the end, gentle, leader to other dogs ( 2 times we saw our boy run into a skirmish of 3 big dogs at the dog park. He thought they were starting to play too rough, so one by one, he pushed them away from the group and scolded each one with a small”woof”. They each stood there looking at him, as if to say “Who was that masked man?”. )At the dog park, he would always run to the gate when a new pup came in. He acted like a bouncer at the door. Then he would go back to playing and smelling.he was friendly with adult and senior peeps. He was the whole kit and caboodle! Oh and he always said his prayers before he ate! I have a sweet Cavalier now with the old Boston girl. But boy I hope I see him over the rainbow bridge. Thanks for your video.Be blest! ☦️👩🏻‍🦳🐾🐾

My Boston has more energy than any dog I’ve ever had. He is so affectionate and gives actual hugs and lots of kisses. He is very loyal and doesn’t bark a lot. We love him dearly!

I have had Bostons my whole life. I now have three they go everywhere I go unless it’s too hot and I need to pop into the grocery. They go in the morning to take the kids to school and pick them up. They make sure everyone is in bed sleeping at night then hop in with me where they snuggle until morning. I can’t imagine life without them.

I had a Boston that died about a year ago, she was eighteen. She just got so she wouldn't eat and the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her (just old). The are hard to find anymore, I had to drive over a100 miles to find a puppy. My Vet say I am the only client that has Bostons in his practice. They are a very smart dog. Years ago when I was a hobby breeder, my bitch had a litter of 7 puppies. I had a whelping box that had a flat- bottom bowl in it that you plugged in to provide controlled heat to the puppies. When I would clean out the whelping box, I would put the puppies in a cardboard box that had bedding in it sitting by the whelping box. One of the puppies was a runt. A lot smaller than the rest of the litter. I would come in to check on the puppies and that runt would be in the cardboard box. And sometimes mother dog would be in the cardboard box feeding the runt. I would put it back in the whelping box and she would move it again. I quickly figured out she was putting in the cardboard box to feed it separately. That is the dog that died at the age of 18.

M John Im sO sorry for your loss. Omgs..18 years old! That’s amazing. I have a Boston Terrier. He will be 10 years old in March. He’s been sick lately. I pray that my baby bOy gives me many many more years to come. I love Boston Terriers. I could never get another breed. ❤️

1:56 not a Boston it’s a Frenchie. Love the Boston breed. Very smart, loyal, courageous, dog friendly, people friendly, amazing with kids, they will love everyone in the home but basically have only one true human that they are most dedicated to.. They are so sincere, they don’t bark unless it’s necessary or playing, they have a hard time in the heat and get cold easy, and are prone to having allergies if you don’t watch what they eat. . My boy is the sweetest Boston. He has a very gentle soul. Best EVER!! Much aloha from Hawaii. You should check us out on the island of Oahu 🤙🏻

Francine Atimua hey! Saw what you said about them having allergies in regards to what they eat. WhT do you feed your Boston? We got our girl this summer a couple months ago and I just want to make sure we’re giving her good stuff. I do notice her eyes tearing a lot, not both actually, just one in particular.

Lol.. Very good.. But I don't recall Boston Terrier to be aggressive or demanding. Though I was not the care giver. (UNFORTUNATELY). She was a quiet. Nice little girl. Who probably wanted some cantaloupe when we were having dinner.. (It occurred to me a few years ago.) Absolutely no issues.

I got my first Boston terrier a year ago and I love my little girl. I rescued her from a bad environment. She loves affection. And I personally wouldn't get another breed. I am looking into adopting another one for her to have a companion ♥♥

I agree with the high points, but take issue with the average/low points. There is no weak point with this breed. My husband can even take our puppy to work because she's so well-behaved and friendly. She makes everyone happy - complete strangers stop in their tracks just to say hi.

Are boston's inclined to experience a lot of ear infections? Ours does. Any advice?ours is also becoming over protective of us. Is this also their nature. We love him ho bits though

@@lynvandermerwe5716 Have you tried cleaning the ears periodically. Just dampen a cotton ball or gauze. About the protectiveness, They can sometimes get that way. My niece comes and cleans house for me once a week. Sometimes she would just come in the house without knocking. He never bit her, but for a while I had to meet her at the door and let her in as he was barking and acting really aggressive. Usually the tone of voice will do the job. If not use some kind of a choke collar. They are a smart dog, it dosn't take them too long get the right idea of whats appropriate behavior.

Perfect for me! I have an older boxer who has been with me since she was a baby. From the things the vet is telling me I probably only have a year left with my best friend - it breaks my heart, but she has lived to an old age and I know it won't last forever - sad as it is. I think a Boston will be my next dog. My mother had a Boston and he was such fun - he loved a room full of balloons. Being retired, my Boston would be the center of my world and want for nothing.

@@karenbrandwein4759 I have 4 because I haven't found 5, 6 7 or 10. So many need good homes. So many to rescue. So many need foster care and all need love. Some for whatever reason don't find furever homes and after a period of time still need to feel permanent so I fail as a foster and succeed as an adoptive mom..... some of us have all the luck and I'll do without b4 my fur babies do

Karen Brandwein.. do you realize most Americans own more then one dog at a time? Or more then one animal at a time? It’s normal. My sister has a husky, Rottweiler, a pitbull and a lab. The same shit you asked, someone could turn around and say that about people having more then one kid too. FYI: no one isn’t fuckkng enough. One dog alone isn’t enough. The more the better. Nuff said.

Most wonderful dogs in the world....I miss my girl every single day. They are wonderful, sweet, funny, affectionate, empathetic, playful companions with loads of personality. I'm surprised the cons in this video didn't list the farts. They FART. A LOT. The reverse sneezing can be alarming too, but it's not life threatening. They tend to have tender skin, and they can be stubborn during training, but with patience, they will get it and know what to do from then on out. I will have bostons for the rest of my life. My heart isn't ready to adopt another yet since I cried throughout this video, even a year after my girl had to go....but that's the impact they have on you. They will absolutely steal your heart!

Just got an almost 7 yr old Boston sun.Hes a bit shy and uncertain right now came from a good home .Hes so sweet and loves affection.Ill just love on him until he comes out of his schell....Then soon he will become king of his suroundings.......He's already stolen my heart with those sad brown puppy eyes.......lol

We have had Boston Terriers since 1981. So my son grew up with them. Never had a problem with them being around children.. The are very intelligent, and loving dogs, even with kids. There hasn't been a year yet that I haven't had at least one Boston Terrier.

I've had4 Bostons in my life, and they are wonderful. They are smart, playful and loving. We're too old to get one now b/c we don't want to outlive the dog and have it wonder where we are. Adopting an older dog is not an option b/c of the increased health care costs.

I'm really of getting of buying a Boston terrier, my beautiful English Bulldog, Penny girl passed away on St. Patrick's Day, she had heart trouble and wd miss her, our hearts are broken, we can't believe she's gone she was a rescue , we had her only three years, so my next one will be a Boston terrier.

I had a Boston while growing up and the memories of Little Joe--named after Bonanza Cartwrights of T.V.--was a real friend. We played football on numerous occasions where he would grab the point of the regulation football and have us chasing him allover the yard. Great memories indeed. Perhaps time to get another Boston.

Our 2 1/2 year old is the love of our lives she's spoiled no doubt.She's 27 lbs but in great shape.She loves her walks 1 1\2. Hrs a day I don't no about anybody else experience on a windy day , but on a windy day and those bat like ears she don't like it.She is my best friend.

I feel awful saying this ...I've loved all my dogs - but the Boston, has to be my favourite. I probably won't do any other breed now. He's as perfect as a prefect....with the right amount of mayhem. So easily trained, didn't chew a darn thing and very (I hate using this word but ye know what I mean) obedient! He is indeed the perfect gentleman....until he farts :)

I grew up with a Boston Terrier. They are Great family members. AndbCan be a lot of fun. Sweet.and smart. Each night Bonnie would make the rounds. Starting with my father in the lounge chair. Then when my mother went into the. bedroom she would follow. Later when my father went to bed. She'd come into my bedroom. I was usually fast asleep and in the late night somehow she would burrow underneath me. Because I would wake up with a little Boston Terrier underneath me. She'd cuddle under the blankets w me and somehow push underneath me. I would wake up often on top of a Boston Terrier. What's funny is that in the course of the night she managed to spend time with each one of us. It was really cute when I woke up in the am and my mother would be having her coffee with a Little Boston Baby on her Lap. And there was a small bowl with coffee and milk on the table for Bonnie too. LOL. I wonder if this was an every day occurrence. I usually got out of bed Either before my mother had breakfast or after. So I really Don't know if the dog was addicted to caffeine... They are Great dogs. And should be appreciated every day. Really special. Oh, and I Give my Bonnie Lou ( Boston Terrier) credit for my learning to swim... She loved the water. And was a great swimmer. My parents brought her with them when they came to visit me at camp. And she was the Biggest encouragement to my learning to swim and going (I think) into the deeper water. Really love Boston Terrier a but if I were to get a dog I think I want a white fu by she she breed. Probably would end up getting a Boston Terrier?

Good video. I will take issue w/ the shedding rating here though. Bostons barely shed at all. As an owner of two and a filmmaker w/ a lot of electrical equipment around the house that would get damaged by hair, I can vouch for this. Actually, I have another filmmaker friend who embraced Bostons for the same reason. I think the separation anxiety probably varies by dog, but I find they do much better when you have two.

Hi Sam Frazier. It is because of a low shedding level that this breed has a 7/10 rating. A lot of hair will rate 1/10 like for all "negative" aspects from an owner's point of view (drooling, barking, grooming needs, prey drive, exercise needs, wanderlust, dog odor). Hope it helps !

I have a Boston Terrier! He will be 10 years old in March. I bought him when he was 5 months old. He is the best boy! I would never get another breed. My baby bOy does have separation anxiety☹️ He cried the other day when I went into work early. He wouldn’t eat his dinner and he stayed in my bed alllllll day. Luckily enough, my mom is retired so she’s home everyday with him but it’s not good enough. He wants his mommy and his grandma or he’s sad. 🥺

I have my seventh Boston in my lifetime. Once you go “Boston” you don’t go to any other breed. They are smart, easy to train, don’t shed & love to be with their family, are great with babies & kids. They want to please. My last three have lived to 13 or over. They are not a dog that you can put in the back yard or chain them to a tree, they can’t take the extreme heat or cold.
