I am going to guess the year of your Whaler....1974 possibly 73 as you do not have a smirk on it. I have a 1974 with a different console though. Great trustworthy boat and you will get wet in the waves. Anyways Hello from "Gilligan" over in BC, Canada
It's a good thing I didn't see these videos when I was younger! I would have talked my friend and fellow adventurer into making a similar trip. I currently have a 1998 Montauk 17 with a Johnson 90. Grew up close to the Chesapeake Bay; my dad had an older Whaler that I was fortunate enough to be able to use until he sold it. Looks like you decided on a good gear selection, and I'm looking forward to finishing your ICW series. Many kudos to you for your accomplishments! And great job on you boat restoration!
Interesting watching this video after the fact and thinking about what I would bring with the space limitations and how I would modify my Mako to carry as much as was needed, keeping it dry and secure. What would you say were the items you should have brought as well as those items that were not needed?
Oh boy... I brought wayyy too much stuff... I wasn't missing anything but probably wouldn't take a generator, battery charger, and a bunch of "just in case stuff"... The fact is that I wasn't "offshore" and could have easily pulled into a marina and bought whatever I needed. BoatUS would have come and gotten me if I had broken down sooooo... Keeping it simple is the way I would go next time...
I would think if you’re on the water with fishing tackle & no license it would be hard to say I’m just passing through & not fishing to a warden? Looks like a fun adventure though.
How many times are you going to make this comment? Do you have any recommendations for mics good in the wind? Any experience with sound? Love to hear how you handle it in your videos.
